So, you are still making maps for the public... I mean you might be trying to make a map for the maybe 500 people on battle.net that aren't complete idiots, but then it won't really serve a great purpose.... I just started wondering what the purpose of making maps is actually... I think it's just self-satisfaction so yeah.

Actually most make good maps to improve thier understanding of SC, for improvement, or if they are good enough for tournaments.

What's the point of a better understand of StarCraft or making better maps, if they're not meant for anyone.... The only one there that I think is a good reason is if they're good enough for tournaments.

I'd say that's a good reason, except that I don't really understand the purpose of that smile.gif. Just enjoyment I guess, but then the question is why is that enjoyable? Creating is natural human-instinct I suppose would be the reply to that smile.gif. Wow I sound sort of like a might have a few braincells smile.gif, except that comment ruined it sad.gif.

Even if they are made for the noob public, albeit they still probably won't be balanced or whatnot, at least make it look like you spent a lot of time on it.

Like some doodads and other terrain details, and clean up the "look" of the way the terrain is placed. It looks kinda crooked and off. But like you said, with practice you should be able to fix that.

The only reason I try not to put funny terrain shapes is because I'm anal about stuff like that... confused.gif

you shouldn't be offended by people bashing this map because you clearly didn't even try on it. The bases and expansions aren't even close to being alike and the terrain is totally blank.

the noob public and most of the public for that matter plays money maps, so this will not win over the masses.

www.pgtour.net look at the maps there to learn how to make. don't give up though you will get it.

I'm wondering, is there a melee tutorial section? Because people really should learn what makes a good map. I mean, grabbing a Blizzard map and looking at it is one thing, but knowing how to grab a Blizzard map and develop a map as symetrical and balanced as their's is hard work.

For what people haven't said on this map, 4 players should have at least one natural for each player, and at least one side base for each player. Any less is suicidal. Also, Gas, if you only make 2 geysers a person, should have anywhere from half to 100% minerals of a normal starting position. Lone Mineral fields should have 80%-100% Minerals.

Well the problem was I made the map too small to begin with, I thought 96x96 was big enough, and when I realized it wasn't I was too stubborn to change it, and so I pressed onward and got a crappy outcome. P.S. if you'd like check out my map "The Randomizer" in the UMS completed maps section, it's useful for just making random values for anything.
