I think the main problem is I need more room for protosses correct? I don't know enough about melee map making to know what else to change so tell me exactly what to change and tell it to me kindly, Special note just to Yenku I don't wanna hear ure f*cking flames so don't even post unless you're going to say it in a civil manner, thank you.

Edit: Crap I put up a version I was using for testing purposes seeing how comps would fight in it, I'll tell you when that's fixed.

Edit: Fixed.

Erm, apparently you misplaced a massive amount of resources in the middle. Also, there are only two small paths through the middle, not cool. Positions are imbalanced, when its bottom left vs bottom right, or top left vs top right, terran can very easily push. Also, total lack of decoration and no good use of terrain. And you need to work on the expansions.

What's wrong with placing a mass of minerals in the middle? It makes middle more desirable and more of a wanted position doesn't it? I realize that bottom right vs bottom left and top right vs top left is screwy I gotta fix that, I'll probably scrap this map, but I still want suggestions for future projects. Yet again please explain what's wrong with the mass of minerals in the center, because in my opinion it would make for an interesting game.

[sub]Look at some of the 'Pro' maps in the DLDB, expecially nonname's work. They should give you some good ideas and its good to use their mineral placements untill you can make your own.

Also another thing to look about is tring to make your terrian look more natural. It makes the map a whole lot better. Always remember doodads are your friend.[/sub]

I was attempting something new, I dunno it's not really great, but it's kinda a new idea.

I dont think putting all those minerals in the middle of the map is a very good idea. Unit AI cannot detect mineral walls so if units are going to want to go from, lets say, red to teal's base, they're going to get caught up in the middle with all those mineral walls. That could get very annoying.

Or at least, leave some opening so units dont get stuck or anything.

I tested this with AI's they didn't get stuck, units go around on their own. Problem solved??

The first thing I thought when i saw it was "lol".
As the others said, the minerals in the middle is a real bad idea. There are nowhere to place a CC, Nexus or Hatchery near enough. Also near the starting bases there is a lonely gas supply, not good, you shoukld add some minerals there too. And the bases seems to got different sizes too, just as many other ares in the middle.

Why point me out specifically? I don't flame so much as tell the truth..
And no, I don't do it harshly either... People just don't like hearing that they aren't the right person to be making maps or that they made an error etc.

The mineral placement in the middle is terrible and there are too many. Same goes for the mains.

Not enough expos.

Yenku, because a comment like, "You obviously just shouldn't even be making maps" isn't even constructive. It is basically saying give up. Everyone can learn with practice. That's how I learned to make UMS maps.

[sub]But do you even play melee? If so, would you personally play on a map like this? I wouldent.

The general setup is not too bad, but the terrian does not seem to flow. Also note that the two bottom bases need more room around their ramps to make it more fair. They cannot defend it as easy as the top two bases.[/sub]

This isn't UMS.

Rose.of.Dream and Bill307 both started out making maps that didn't suck. The only way your going to make a good map is if you have the right skill. My friend is great at melee, better than me at my best and he can't make a map for his life. Even after 3 maps he can't get crap done on it.

ADDITION:
I would give up if I were you. How about that?

Notice how I am only harsh to f**king morons who don't know anything yet act like they do.

I'd prefer a comment like "I'd give up if I were you" actually, because it's just saying what you'd do in their situation smile.gif. I don't act like I know everything, I hardly know anything. I still believe with practice you can learn to make melee maps, I don't think it's just some natural born skill.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yenku on 2005-11-05 at 19:58:54
Well, I think its only in some cases you can learn to make good maps, and that will only come with tons of practice and thats way beyond you.

Yenku, no, it is not beyond me. I just made another map for two players, I think it's better I'm about to put it up.

Yea, go get it.

Look Yenku, I don't want to get into a war with you about this, if I'm enjoying making the maps and enjoying playing them isn't that good enough.. Also I played both of the crappy maps I've made so far with some people, they all liked them. They said the thought the minerals in the middle was a good idea, and isn't what the people who play the map's opinion what really counts?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by decafchicken on 2005-11-06 at 13:41:33
Umm, what kind of people are you playing starcraft with?

I'm not sure how anyone could think either of these maps are good, or like them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by NerdyTerdy on 2005-11-06 at 15:32:36
Well, pretty much anybody... Just people I meet and play with doesn't matter who. I'll meet someone in like an LT game and be like hey you wanna see a map of mine, it's not good, I want suggestions on it, then they played it and they're like I like this, let's play on it again.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by decafchicken on 2005-11-06 at 16:54:12
Oh, pubbies, that would be your problem. Try playing on it with someone from TL/SEN(a veteran melee maker)/pgtour/broodwarmaps.net

Aren't maps made for the public?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by decafchicken on 2005-11-06 at 17:58:49
Most of the public is ignorant.
