Sometimes you can find viruses in the processes tab. Used by System these are usually called stuff like qckuy or zyohp. Just random letters. Once again be careful about closing anything being used by the system however.

Yeah, with my laptop... I was trying to get NIS2005 working by using a crack and it ended up being spyware....
I would have like 6 processes of random letters like jushc and pwusm.
Eh... I had to reinstall windows, I only had 64 RAM, and it was just too much for my comptuer to handle.

I knew about this for a long time, but I was too lazy to test which programs would work and too scared that shutting certain ones off would jack my computer into bits.

I have not used it yet, but you could try to use net limiter. I think you will need a CD key to make it work. You... *shuts up*

Also do not close anythign that says SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE or NETWORK SERVICE as your computer needs to function with these.

This is true to a certain extent. I have come across viruses that will list themself as system, local service, or network service.

I do advise that you test and re-test which programs you will close and such. As I said, don't close Explorer.exe and anything that says SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE and NETWORK SERVICE. It is also highly important that you don't close other programs like your Anti-Virus.

Eh..You can re-open Explorer.exe with the Windows task manager, if it so happens you closed Explorer.exe

Just go to "File" and then "New Task" and type Explorer =).

did u look at my screen shot. to close the ctrl+Alt+del thing i have to end taskmgr.exe process.. well just look at the screenshot and u will under stand.

Dude, you don't have to do that though. Although works quite nicely. Just double click the Top really quickly and the Tabs including "File" and all the rest should return.

Do you use WindowBlinds? WindowBlinds has a process (I think it's wblinds.exe) and if you kill it your skin will revert to normal. Just restart your computer.

I think that's what happened. I just logged off and on (didnt even need to restart) and it reverted.

Im usually 45 seconds...

I'll test it on a 4:45 Second Mp3 off of limewire. (And take note that my limewire sucks... =[ ) If there's a better way to test, shoot, but this is all I know.

I got about 53 seconds on it, with opera and Itunes on in the background.

Thats odd.. our specs are off.. Maybe you were naming bandwidth or something, i dunno.

It might just be slow naturally...

And you can quit explorer.exe, it just makes everything much harder to do. And it doesn't decrease the time it takes to do things.

Anyway, I just have to say that I get about 150kbps average on my mac, without closing programs...

I think 54mbps is bandwidth.. It's confusing, because I know cable is like around either 256kb/s or 756kb/s
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-12-20 at 20:11:52
8 bits = 1 byte

Ergo X mbps = X/8 mb/s
X kbps = X/8 kb/s
X bps = you're pathetic

Do you mean your network? I have very stable internet, and it's only 6 mb/sec. A lot of networks run at 54/108 mb/sec. Mine happens to run at 125 mb/sec. That means that a total of 54,108,125,etc. mb/sec can run via your network. If your internet connection is only 512 kb/sec DSL, the most bandwidth you'll get from the internet to your network is 512 kb/sec (for the entire network). However, up to 54,108,125,etc. mb/sec is the bandwidth between your computers.
