QUOTE(Toothfariy @ Feb 1 2006, 09:29 PM)
we did a thing about this in english today.

we got a paper that says "... While in REM (Rapid eye movement) your subconcience mind comes out to answer the questions you concience mind has for your self. When people say ' i need to sleep on it' and some how they know what to think the next day, it's because of dreams..."

it also went on to explain that you are the only one who can interprate your own dream. some belive in symbolic things in dreams for example : you and your friend smoke cigars alone in your house. maby your subconcience is telling you that cigar = wang. answering the question if you might think your gay. (unless your a girl)

but dreams have meaning to them. it's up to you to figure out what they are

Yes. I believe that is certainly true about in a scientific way. But sometimes, I feel like I want to believe in dreams you know. For example, if i won a lottery in my dream, I would most certainly buy a lottery ticket in hopes of perhaps winning a lottery or something. But scientifically, it doesn't have to do with anything, although it just means it CAN help you clean up your messed up mind...

I had a pretty peculiar dream last night. I don't remember much, but I remember a girl, suposedly my girlfriend (currently single). She wasn't exactly anyone I know. She had all the characteristics that I find attractive in a girl, suprisingly, they weren't what I listed in my 'Girl/Guy' thread. She was giving me tips on kissing and handling a girl. I dunno, it was awesome though. *sigh*

How funny and ironic. I had that kind of dream last night too...

your a perverted illegitimate child?

er... i mean

the fact that an authority figure is causing harm to you may be because school or another authority is stressing you. since your teacher isnt attractive(i hope not) she resembles that you do not like the authority. BUT since you decided to go have sex it means that you allow the authority to control your life. the closet represents that you would like to hide these feelings.

the sexual part just means that your horny

Dreams relate to casual stuff you do or cover a broad factor in life. It mainly comes down to interpretation. I don't think it predicts the future. I personally think it's a lot like Deja Vu; a simply mistake by the brain making one think their dreams have shown the future.

In a way it does... it is just whatever you have in your mind, but doesn't really predict future...

Although I am korean, I don't believe it... My mum does... she won like 20k dollars in lottery after she had a really good dreams with people throwing money at my house...

agreed. I mean, if i won 20k in a dream i would look in my dreams very carfully. hehe.. But no, that won't happen to me.

Dreams are merely the unconscious recollection of your current day and your current toughts. Dreams are there only to sort out your mind into a state of equillibrium so that you wont go insane when you wake up. The more complex and strong the feelings that you feel during the day the more strongly you dream. And the things that you dream, are indeed reflective of what you currently feel as a whole. There are no boundaries in the unconcious world. When you are conscious you hold back emotions that WANT to be expressed, but because you are holding them back you can never feel them (you even feel some stuff that you don't even know you are feeling). When you become unconscious and you reach a state of REM (rapid eye movement) this mental holding back is lost and you experience everything in your dream that your conscious will not allow. Thus there are indeed explainations for everything that you dream.

What a dream is, is indeed objectionable. There are many portrayals for them. However, the explainations of the dreams are based on a broad whole, where there are many people who have felt the same thing and dreamt the same dreams.

Check out some findings online about dreams and you too will see that there is indeed a consistancy between your dreams and their explainations.

As a final note: in case you didn't know, you dream a dream everyday! You would die if you didn't dream. The only reason why you don't remember them is because the only way to remember a dream is to be woken up in the middle of high REM.

Dreams are probably a result of deep thinking before you sleep.

Sometime it does, sometime it don't. It depends.

When I was about 7, I told my mom I have a dream about something something, and my mom go buy Vietnamese Loto (only one number 1-100 or more or something, the prize isnt that high it only about 10x the money that you bet). The next day my mom told me she won a lot of money, we still poor now*

Based on my knowledge I think dreams are results of deep depression / deep thinking / excitement / any other forms of deep concentration and extended thinking. We basically have dreams every time we sleep and we just don't notice it. sad.gif

of course dreams have explanations!!
wait... do they??

i think it just reflects what you did that day, or how you felt that day or whatever

When you dream, you only remember the dreams that have something to do with problems, or situations in your life.

It is your subconcious putting it into terms that it understands, so it tries to work them out in forms of dreams.

I believe dreams are just a little swim in your subconscious, or your mind being active. They are just a huge jumble of old memories, past thoughts, present thoughts, what has happened, your imagination being bored, etc.

Sometimes when you are dreaming you are actually moving your limbs as you would if you were really in the situation in your dream. Such as I have been dreaming I was going up a staircase, and I was taking a step. When I moved my foot down it just went through the step and woke me up because it had startled me when my foot did not hit anything solid.

Once I hit my cat during a dream. (I just remember hearing my cat meow and me waking up. You never can quite remember a dream.. unless it is the kind that keeps coming back to haunt you)

You usually don't move much in your sleep during REM (Random Eye Movement. A form of sleep) because your body is paralyzed.

Yeah, pretty much. But it's all your subconcious while you sleep.
