That is not at all accurate.
The only unforgivable sin is when you deny God when he asks to enter your heart.
If you do not repent for your sins before you die, you will go to Hell. If you do not believe in God when you die, to Hell you go. Other than that, you will not go to Hell.
Church is just a place where some people feel more secure with their religion and that they can communicate with God better in a group, it is possible to be a good christian without even being in a church.

Heres the thing...if someone as sadistic as god thinks that if he is not loved or worshipped the people should be damned for eternity then that is not the religion i choose to believe in. Me, I like to believe in a Afterlife, no Heaven, no Hell, just another plain of existance. If god is there then I might consider rethinking my believes but till then i'll never bow to anyone, mortal or otherwise and instead live my life.
