In my musical collection I have a lot of songs. You didn't say what kind of generes you like so be sure to know most of all of these are rock.
Audioslave - Out of Exile CD
It has fast guitar solos in a lot of songs but also has it's handful of "Wow that sounds cool" songs. Like "Be Yourself"
Rage Against the Machine - Any Album (Except Renegades)
RATM has the same band members as Audioslave, although different singer. It has more of a Rap sound to it but it's all political. Nothing like "Wahh african biznatch ass whore i love my money betch" crap that you get with other rap. With the exception of the Renegade CD which is 100% covers. It's great music and if you try to ignore the fact that most of the lyrics from Evil Empire album don't really make any sense then it's good music
Gorillaz - Demon Days
All the tracks on this album is good to listen to when you're in the car. It's like backround music, but it's not. Listen to some samples of the songs on Itunes or something and you'll see what I mean.
Allman Brothers - At Fillmoore East
It's a live album but you wouldn't be able to tell it without someone mentioning it to you. It's nice music, sort of blues and rock combonation, but none the less good music.

Metallicas newest album ST. Anger is a good album if you want fast metal, though it's rather repetive sometimes, but Metallica is Metallica, really good I mean then.

Electric Light Orchestra - They are always backed with a Orchestra, so theres alot of different sounds. Try their earlier stuff, their later stuff is a bunch of slow love songs. Good songs include: Telephone Line, Turn to Stone, Mr. Blue Sky
Rush - Being a progrssive rock band, alot of their music is about mythology and fanasty. They are often backed with a Orchestra also. Good songs include: 2112 Overture, Closer to the Heart, Freewill, Spirt of Radio
Jefferson Airplane - My favorite hippie band. They had like, 8 members, so theres lots of variety. Good songs include: Somebody to Love, Volunteers, White Rabbit, Good Morning Vietnam[/sub]

Jim Croce, Johnny Cash (though his songs are generally very simplistic), the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, Edif Piath, that's all the musicians I can think off of the top of my head that I like. I dunno what you'd like.

By that I mean a really good choise to listen to. And everyone has a taste, some might like it, some don't.
ADDITION:
Personally I liked the ol' Metallica, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lighting etc.
But I still think ST. Anger is good.
