If the ads are so crucial to SEN, then keep them. However, I don't understand something about this: most of the moderators and other staff are old enough to work, correct? Are you guys paying for SEN's upkeep too?

This is lame beyond lame. You're forcing people's hands for donation. Totally unfair.

No. I know exactly how this works, you're sure that people like this site too much to leave over something like hideous ads, right? I'm starting to understand the mentality of "this site is going down the drain".

Cry me a river, build and bridge and get the censored.gif over it.

Ads are fine, they don't bother me. As long as i don't have 100 popups.

You should have done this yesterday, would have been a good April fools joke =\

If people are willing to leave the site because of these ads, then they should. Probably the same members who make this site "go down the drain" anyway.

SEN doesn't need idiots who can't put up with ads.

And let's also help them leave by putting them into the Forbidden group.

If this is best for SeN, do it. After all, we all want to keep coming back for the next few years, right?

Mindless dedication, hmm? I seem to recall, uh, what's it called... uh.. contributing to SEN's terrain forum fairly often. Yeah, that's it. Devilesk, I don't remember you ever making much more then a few flames here and there.

Wait wait wait. Let's hear his argument. What's wrong with ads?

SEN with ads, and without ads is barley noticable:

The only complaint I have about the ads is how it's in a odd place and makes it look like a glitch happened. They really belong at the bottom or the very top of the page, but under the task bar. Like right here would be good:

Obviously the ad was made smaller but you get the idea.

Also Wilhelm you really shouldn't be complaing. This is one of the few fourms that doesn't have any pop ups or porn links on the side of it. Now a single ad and you say that your going to leave the site (Or hint at it) all because the site isn't convient for you. As cheeze says "Live with it". We're not MAKING you pay to join the site, it's not like you can't read what anyone is saying because of a simple ad. He's only testing things out now, in the future it may even be in a place you never knew exsisted.
Also you know how selfish your being? You're saying that Mods should dedicate some of there life just to maintain a site where they make sure everyone stays friendly to each other. All because you don't like having a single ad under the first post. How is that fair at all?

Ad's disturb!

Ever read a magazine with tons of ads? Not much to actually read, huh? They get in the way of reading actual site content.
Golden-Fist, I'm not saying that I'm leaving, I'm not saying that the mods should pay for the site. If ads are neccesary for the future of the site, than they can say. I was srurpised at seeing them suddenly and didn't really get why they were there. I don't like having them.

That isn't the case on SEN.

Really, I find 5-10 minute break on television for ad's every 15 minutes pretty annoying. Don't you?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HorroR on 2006-04-02 at 17:04:29
The ads are like what, the size of about half of a semi-long post?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-04-02 at 17:05:50
But there isn't a 5 minute break, there is a 150x600 image, that takes half a second to scroll past.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2006-04-02 at 17:06:00
Smaller. Your sigs are + post space is usually triple the size of it.

Personally, some of Sen's posts is worse than the ads in terms of spamness.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2006-04-02 at 17:06:23
A magazine without ad's won't exist. You need someone to pay to the initial costs before the people buy it. It's their own way of making sure they won't get too many loses if they don't sell much.

Oh yea, you're right. All I do here is flame here and there.

At least I don't complain about crap like ads.

Only thing that really bothers me about the ads is them being after the first post. It's not like it's the apocalypse or something, they're just ads, one per thread, and the one in the corner for Firefox.

Edit: One per page, not per thread.

Well, whatever. Considering most people aren't going to back me on ad removal, I have a request: Move them and/or make them smaller. Better color merging would make them easier to skip as well.

When I first saw these ads, I thought I had gotten spyware. Maybe some kind of notice about the ads would make it less confusing for people.

Um, the notice is THIS topic as news closedeyes.gif This would only be new and cause confusion for older members. Anyone who joins after this would probably just accept this as part of the site.

A notice before all of the ads would be unnecessary and a waste of space.

If anything, sticky this topic or something as a permanent notice about the new ads.
