The required courses are there so The Man (or whatever alias you use) can shape us up into "their" idea of what we should be. They control more of your thoughts than you think.

Optionals courses make you feel and think youre free.

Even.. food. Look at food. One week I find out that eggs are healthy for you. Next week their unhealthy. Maybe "they" just want their puppets to eat more eggs.. or less?

Ignore the above post. I needed to get that out. I think everything is a conspiracy.

EXCUSE ME?!? There are many people I know that failed MANY courses in school, almost ALL of them are earning 800000$ (Can) a year with their jobs, very few had to go back to school. Including my grand-pa, he's made (on average) 1.5mil a year on owning and selling buildings, and he's a grade-6 dropout, too bad my family got nothing of it sad.gif.

Like my principle said: The canadian educational system is bent towards the White Male population of Canada. It is a lot harder for natives (especially natives, in my town all they do is take cree class and talk on the cellphone during other classes), women or any people with other tones of skin (don't want to sound racist) would have a harder time in school than any white male.

Some people would argue the fact that women have harder time in canadian schools, 'cause they are better in classes. That's because (normally) they are naturally smarter than men, while men are naturally stronger than women. And no, I'm not sexist, all of this is based off surveys and studies.

While I'm on the topic of my school, Once I crushed the casing of a pen to a white powder, and I put it in a paper bag. A native girl found it, took it and opened it, (I was watching this from across the class) and then snorted it. She's obviously a druggie.

Women are not naturally smarter. It has to do with hormones and other neurochemicals. Testosterone (The male hormone) makes it so men are inclined towards more concrete subjects, like math and science. Estrogen (The predominant hormone in women) inclines women towards abstract subjects, like English.

Gym - there is a point to this credit. you know more than half of the world hates fat people, its even a disgrace to the school to even have a fat kid for a student. if your getting picked on by your classmates deathhawk then its ok to admnit it bag.gif

Pool (in some areas) - well this could be half good and half bad. you can drown easly by stupid immature kids, its a practice for survival, to save other people that are drowning. if you dont know how to swim, then its a real embarrasent calling for help when your drowning.

Spanish - might as well extend your learning with a new language. if your comming to america, you better learn you english quickly or else were going to call immagration service on you.

It's always of politeness that when speaking to a stranger, you always speak the language of the person foreing to the country. Also, talking about business, what if you could do business with Hispanic customers, but you can't conduct it because there's no means of communication. They'll simply go to the spanish speaking competition that you have, and that means your market just got way smaller.

Hardly, I know many succesful people who only speak one language. And again, I don't see where it's going to come up in my future life.

Hey, if I move to Puerto Rico, I'd learn Spanish right away, not make you guys learn English, but I'm not going to move to Puerto Rico because I don't speak Spanish.

And again, what if your job doesn't require you talking to people? Then all the classes you're taking won't do anything for you.

And I can always get a translator smile.gif

Well, there are the occasional people who get extremely lucky. But don't tell me the neighborhood 'gangsta's' are going to be multimillionaires. Please.

Beer, I generally agree, but it still has nothing to do with general education. The school system teaches second languages too late anyway; if they start in 3rd grade or something, then 1) They'd have time to master yet another language later. 2) They'd learn much faster.

And on the subject of you having a 100% more chance of getting the job then me, I already have 2 languages and am studying french at school. That doesn't apply to immigrants who actually preserve and learn their mother language.

You have to take gym because you live in the USA.
The USA is trying to fix its fat-people problem.
You may not be fat, but you can't seperate who is fat and who isn't then just make the fat people take gym. Plus, its good for you, keeps you healthy, you want to stay healthy. Be healthy. Stop complaining.

Learning another language increases your IQ. You become smarter which inturn makes the rest of school easier, or if not school, then life in general. Plus, you now have increased your number of availible jobs by learning another language. You can move to Spain, get a job there. Spain is hot and has a lot of hot girls. Stop complaining.

Gym was hell. They lumped everyone together. The honors kids, and the stupid potheads and gangsters. You have no idea how much I wanted to freaking kill the whole class because of their stupidity. Also, I have a depth perception issue (I'm half blind, hence the wandering eye) so most all sports are difficult for me unless I truly get the jist of it, but I never want to because I hate the people in the class. It's a vicious cycle that never ends and only produces extreme dislike for pretty much the whole school's population.

I'm a full bilingual, meaning I can read, write and speak to near perfection 2 Langauges. That means that if we have that same education and experience, I have a 100% chance of getting the job before you.

That's my point exactly. If I went to live in Spain or Puerto Rico, I'd learn the native language. If I went to live in France, I'd learn French. If I were non-english speaking and I moved to America (or an english speaking nation), I'd learn english.

K1-12 Schools have required courses because of the requirement of basic education and the fact that people will change their minds about what they want for their future when influenced by certain subjects.

Then they've got the wrong person, because I'm not fat.
Why can't you?
I can stay healthy without taking a class every day.

And taking a class about computer programming, business, or whatever else doesn't?
Yeah, good idea, I'll just take the bus to Spain and work there, and take the bus back. I don't want to live in Spain,
So does every other damn country? As if where I'm living doesn't have a lot of hot girls either.

HolySin, you want to know what I've learned in Gym? How to shoot a basketball. And yeah, I don't plan on being a professional basketball player, so I guess it's not going to help me in future life.

And pool isn't teaching me anything when I already know how to swim.

So instead of teaching us at least something, they'd rather make we waste my limited amount of classes on nothing?

We also have health (.5 year health, .5 year gym). They're such fooles that you just want to stab them because they don't respect the teacher. And about disliking all subjects in school, I happen to be in honors + AP classes, so I don't have to deal with them (except one class which isn't honors because there's no honors or ap version of it so I have to deal with fooles)

I have a depth perception issue, so it's extremely difficult for me to do that kind of stuff. That + not wanting to try harder because of the fooles in the school ridiculing me = Hate gym

Let me put it this way: Every subject in the world can be useful for a certain person at a certain point in their life. If that time comes up and they don't know the subject, tough. But why force them to learn something that they apparently think that will never help them? If they're too stupid to understand that it's major and learning it helps with everything else, that's their problem. Not the school's problem.

|)ark 13 - Every subject can help you in a little way. But let's say this is true (not from personal experience tongue.gif). You are a superb basketball player, but are having math problems. You are forced to go to gym. Why don't the force you to learn math, something you have problems with, instead of something that just annoys you.

Oh, and Cow, I agree that gym is annoying. Your gym is worse because you have everyone lumped together, but I have the Honors people lumped with what I think are the 'Special Education' students. Worst combination ever.

Holy Sin, as said by me before in the post, sure it can help. I must say that I do not plan to be a professional basketball player. That would be a disgrace (for me). And someone who sucks at math won't become a famous mathematician either.

The damned American education system is too lazy. Evaluate students individually if you want to be considered a good education country!

Water basketball is so fun though smile.gif. If I honestly could, I would become a professional basketball player and I just might if I practice enough, so I guess gym helps me there. It might be different for you people who plan to become engineers or something like that so I won't judge.
