Clan[SiP] - I found it to. Actually, the exact same place where you found that. Please do not give out this URL.

Actually, all protectors are not safe anymore except for PROEdit 1.4 now.

Unsafe protectors:
  • SCUM Protector
  • GUedit
  • Starforge
  • Proedit up to 1.3b
  • Togi
Of course, theres always hexing as well, which can always unprotect maps. But we're not worried about the hex'ers, just the newbies.

Well this is a little off topic but it's possible to get sounds from a map without unprotecting it. (WINMPQ)

Yeah, but why do you want to protect a sound!?

Actually if you want to get technical (pun intended), here's the full list of unsafe protectors:
  • All
Claiming that one protector is the best or the only "safe" one, IMO, is naive.

Its the only protectors where I found detailed Hex tutorials.

And then I said at the bottom:

I downloaded PROEdit as my desicion scm toolkit isnt all that great, even though you can change the colors of text and players units, its just i want only a map protector not some mumbo jumbo thing where its like i have to read an instruction manual just to know how to open a folder (which by the way i know how to use scm toolkit and hardly like it). thanks for all the helpful info.

Just be happy that no1 in our knowledge has unprotected proEdit.

Thats a good enough reason for me.

PROEdit can be unprotected, just like every other protector.

Some one unprotected my Time Up Bound, witch was protected with Proedit. version 1.1 i think. It was quite pathedic, they made a strip of land to the left of the island so you could walk past all the levels.

Starforge's protection isn't the best, it's actually pretty bad. I think it just adds an extra row of terrain to make it a not normal size so other editor get messed up or something of the sorts.

Just use Proedit and you'll be ok, v1.4 of course.

SF can also corrupt your maps.

Clokr_ showed me how to edit a .chk biggrin.gif

Clokr_ = Cool

Information on why Proedit is the best protected (Information from Clokr_ Himself)

Proedit has a randomize factor. So every map is different. Looking at 2 indentical maps protected with proedit would be different. happy.gif

I used to be a member of KoN, i wonder how that old clan is doing...they did have some awful members who loved their bound maps...

If your gosu use Hex Editor and do it yourself style!

It's all stuff in the chk, if you can go through it and change all the things that were change back to normal then you could open it. Of course that would take like forever for most people, so you could probably remake the map faster yourself.
