Second one sounds good
Edit: Ugh, just dont use the D-Pad. Too confusing. Better just move Link with the mouse.
I Agree, if you make it too complicated some ppl will be confused.

Might be complicated, but maybe he could make a grid system that follows the screen in a corner, would look pretty interesting

Ok here's a movement test. This is an early work in production.
Hotkeys: Y - Up B - Right V - Down D - Left
Bugs: When moving left you travel 140-145 degrees instead of 135. Meaning you move left and a little bit up instead of just left.
It's the best hotkey combo I could find with the 5 units you can build from a building. It's also a pretty accurate system using different air units instead of the same one because locations will center on the wrong unit most of the time in other maps.
The next one will hopefully have: -Sword Carrying -Rolling, like in four swords adventures -Sword swinging(attack) -Charge-up spinny sword thing
I also want to expariment with clokr_'s relative movement method with only 2 locations. Which would spare some locations and strings for the main map.
Relative movement will have to be everything in Zelda. On to make it better...

DeathKnight, Dropship? Good idea.

It's a great system and has some fricking awesome triggering, but the talking from the just-built units gets REALLY annoying. I hate to say it, but I would prefer the Dropship method.

Hm.. yea the dropship has more options, but the position of units in a dropship tend to change... Let me fix it up a bit and get rid of the sound and add diagonal walking.
Bah, the 2-location system isn't as nice.

You could use a SCV and let it build a certain building to activate an effect

That takes more time and concentration than the building or dropship method, so it's not a very plausible idea.

Thanks for the ideas, and after all this, im planning on making an rpg, it might become killed from tuxedo's rpg... but it would be nice to see how well it would do in comparison to his rpg... wish me luck.... thanks you guys...
Btw, your ideas are good, but most people would like for things to be simple, many people prefer a simple layout to play... too any complicated triggers, and complicated layouts could slow down gaming, as well as cause for the player to lose interest in learning the required tools to play... meaning: an underplayed rpg map that you used so much time for...
ill start working... o, and that puzzle map might be next... been thinking about it...

What about both things? A RPG with puzzles
