A good idea, but it just won't work in this map because there's no real "neutral" building population to draw from. Or if you're recommending I do this for your own faction's structures, the idea doesn't give the right gameplay feel. Troops from your own team are called in, not magically given birth to in the middle of nowhere (like SC does).

That idea is being implemented in multiple abilities; maybe not "from the base" in all situations, but you get the gist.

Awesome idea to bind items with this... I already have a Drop Pod ability in there, which is a supply drop with troops; to do so with resources would be kind of redundant 'cause you're receiving a salary constantly. As for air strikes, I'll incorperate an "Air Strike Marker" or the like to designate the target (Drop Pods already have one but it's a slightly different concept.) This also allows people (friend or foe) to mess with the ability by using SCVs to move the marker around or away. This results in football-suicide-runs and, inversely, panics to get a marker out of, say, a base. As for "radio" items in specific..... no, sorry.

I'm tossing this idea around. Missions use a LOT of triggers and a LOT of strings, which I'm carefully managing. So maybe 1 or 2, but in the form of major mission objectives. Like killing that third faction leader. wink.gif

lol I'd like to test the map too...anyone interested in this would love to play the test version.

Other Ideas...

1-For the all general abilities what about bribing?

2-For that tactical nuke thing I meant it as an item.

3-If the map is like your men come from your base and attack to the other side, why not make it like if you build something you upgrade the amount or quality of the men that attack...if the maps not like that than forget this idea.

4-For items how about a radar? Like if you hold it it pings where like objectives are or certain units and things.

5-how about things like weather effects? Dunno how but maybe you could figure something that you could use for weather effects.


I'll try figure out something again later.

P.S. but really is the observer for the sniper suppose to be called reticle, reticule, or reciticule? I forget how it's suppose to be called.

(You know.. so you can jump over walls.. fly across narrow rivers.. that sorta stuff) How long does it take for the nuke to land? How much hp will you have the generals? A "blink" sort of ability sounds good.. although it would let players go over into too many areas, some of which I don't want them in (yes, this includes on the battlefield), so I regretfully have to scratch that. The "tactical nuke" is a regular nuke that the Nuclear General has. Takes 10 seconds. The Generals have anywhere from around 800 to 1200 HP, but the stat system of this map is designed to be realistic. Metallic units have 76 armor, making them impervious to bullet fire, and most have enough firepower to tear down infantry in seconds. Although things like tanks are very, very expensive and rare. Infantry weapons are relatively powerful too, capable of tearing down yet more infantry in a small amount of time. I try to apply this kind of realism balancing as much as possible, without rigging anything. But to put it plainly... everything is rigged, which is why the gameplay is intense.

How about a sprint ability? Like if your using a drop ship you drop a certain unit named sprint or w/e and you change your unit into a vulture or ling or w/e

Hm... how about this ability drains your Auth to zero, by giving you more/varying men for higher rank? The trigger would do something like "check for 5 gas, spawn marine, subtract gas, repeat" until you hit 0 gas, then order the men to attack to your target.

Like Space Pirates RPG? Sounds good! I'd probably use it to detect either cloaked units any unit, or air units..

A friend and I talked about this very idea today.. there's no really good applicative uses; "thunderstorms" that strike stuff maybe, but in my opinion, random death events are a reason not to play a map. Then there's uh.. wind... "5% chance your general will lose his hat! Minus 1 morale point, sucker."

Sprinting, blinking, do I sense a want for movement-enhancement? Let me think about that one.

The radar...I don't even know what I was thinking about a radar. I just thought all army tactical kinda games have some kinda radar, then the ping idea came.

Umm I don't know I keep thinking of stuff...hmm maybe I should stop thinking about the all general abilities untill I actually think of something.

1-For that weather thing maybe you could do something like I don't know maybe drop DTs in random places and they might slice a guy once I dunno. Maybe something that resembles a storm, or that wind could block off passages for a couple seconds like if they go where the wind is it pushes them right back...lol a cyclone sucking up guys that'd be funny(Not suggesting this just something I think would be funny)

2-How about this idea like when one faction controls about 3/4 command points, or maybe more if you want, the other faction could maybe create a new type of unit or that could help them in reclaiming the field but then after they get back a couple Command Points, a message says that they ran out of resources for making the unit. This effect will only work once. You could either make both factions have the same type of new unit or they could have seperate. Also if one of them got the units then later in the game the other guy gets it because there losing you could say like they copied there schematics of the unit.

3-For a super weapon building how about like when it fire it mutates/or burns them
alot making them weaker....much weaker.

I'm so interested in this I actually make suggestions, gotta love maps like this.

The problem with having a weather machine storming a target and things is how are you going to target units? you can't just randomly choose units to kill in a location, and it'll be controlled to how many units die.

Protoss Fleet beacon= Weather-Machine
Location1= (on target)

Bring the "target" to a point of attack, Use something i dunno to activate The "Spell" (storm).

Center Label "location1" on "Target"

Center location: Location1 (make the screen can't move)

Display message: (ex:)

Storms are usually long lasting, hey don't just appear kill a unit then disapear taking every single unit in the location with them.

Ok what I'm saying is, if you do that you control exactly the amount of guys that die or have there hp set low...well unless you make 3 or 4 variations of the trigger then everything could be mostly random. I'm not saying I don't like the idea it's just theres no randomality in the trigger unless there are variations.

Maybe you could add a skill thats like carpet bomb.

In a ame my friend once seen a dropship that constantly drops spider mines underneath it so you could do that. But give the dropship low hp so you cant just fly into the enemy base and bomb the crap out of the main base. So it could be more like a thing to use in bottlenecks and narrow passages.

I think you map will be one of the great maps if you get it balanced.

there is already a carpet bomber. It was mentioned in the very first post.
Psi is also trying to make the game as realistic as possible. Bombers has alot of armor hp.

I heard "cyclones" mentioned... perhaps a Tornado ability (or random weather effect) that uses the classic recall trick, and kills men outside of vehicles? I would move the vehicles around too, but I don't want an insane amount of complex triggers.

you could build it into a very hard-to-reach/find outpost to make things fair like.

you could also include similar hard to reach/find places that have warp gates, and other such stationary non-controlable features. ^.^

I dunno if you saw the quotes but if you want to use the cyclone idea I won't have a clue for you to make it...well some but I doesn't matter.

I had 3 ideas on the other post dunno if you want to use them, there on the 3rd page.

The 2nd idea on my other post could be like a last effort to retake some of there Command Points before they run out of the resources...well you look you decide.


More ideas!!!

1-For the third faction why not let them have units that no one else has. Because wouldn't they have stuff if the other factions didn't attack them for so long...I think.

2-For items how about something that makes a laser targeter so a laser in your base could fire at it. But then there is a limit to how far the laser shoots so that way you can't put it in an enemies HQ or something.

3-Each faction could have something the other doesn't like...1 faction has superior air while the other has superior ground forces. 1 could have super weapons that is more protective with there weapons like maybe the corsair ability the web thingy to stop the enemies from attacking your units, or the dark swarm to protect against ranged attacks. That or maybe making hallucinations to protect your men. The other faction could have things like the plague ability (dunno how but you could maybe do that).



Thats all I can think of at the moment take them into consideration plz.



P.S. Somethings been bothering me after I read your introduction of Generals. Since it is a Strategic War Simulation does this mean it's not really a war? lol...wait that didn't sound right I mean to say does that mean this is only a simlutaion and not really a war...wait that didn't sound right either...well you get the idea.
