Thank you.
Unfortunately I can't say the same about you. Yet.
It's down to personal preference whether or not someone views maps as legitimate intellectual property like a real piece of software. DEAD, what I don't think you realize is that the rest of we staffers don't have as strong an opposition about OSMAP as you. In fact, as you can obviously see, some such as Kenoli are strongly for OSMAP.
My comment is completely off-topic. It doesn't relate to the OSMAP discussion in any way.

Replace your name in my last post with "Farty". Bam.
I do realise that viewing maps != stealing.
I do realise that not everyone has such a strong motion as myself in this manner.
I'm trying to show you that whatever you're trying to accomplish with OSMAP is either bad like stealing or can be done in a better and easier way.

I'm not strongly for OSMap, I even said that. I am just trying to get it through people's skulls that there is some good in OSMap.
I don't care if SEN supports OSMap or not. What about making map improvements where the author is gone DEAD?

Simple, make your own map, without bugs. Even if a map maker has left SC forever, he has put his own effort into the map. If the map maker has protected the map it is his rights to keep it that way. It's not like it's doing any harm if you don't fix the bug, you know. If the map is not protected then obviously it's up to you to fix the bug or not. But this doesn't require an unprotector.
Invalid reason to create & use OSMAP
Post#4
Pffft... that's kinda retarded, sorry.
It obviously didn't work for Bush... "I want a country that bows before me as dictator and fills me and my friend's bank account..." "Nooo... the consitution protects us... go make your own country" "Uh, no... I will just use terror and lies and you'll never know."
(I suppose it's up to the author to fix the overlap bug?)
Well thats terrorism right? If you didn't notice, I'm calling LW a terrorist as well.
I mentioned in the post#1, removing overlaps is probably the only valid excuse to use OSMAP.
Why the hell are we using the word "terrorist" in the staff forum? Shouldn't we be a little more mature?

All rhetoric and little substance.
The only thing that is actually just a theory is the hack thing. SEN channel banning, OSMAP creation and SEN domain holding hostage are facts, aren't they?
Yes, but I made this thread for correcting problems on SEN, not attacking some other faction.
This is my OSMAP thread, silly.
ROFL, I thought I was in Open Door.

*Syphon(MM) replaces all mention sof the word 'terrorist' with 'hippie' and all 'guns' with 'walkie-talkies'. Happy?
There is a poll because we are (alledgedly) democratic.
I find it interesting how the split is quite even. I thought that the map protection camp was much bigger. Maybe they are just very vocal.
On a different tack, I think that SEN should host OSMAP. It's time to face up to the facts: OSMAP is out there and if people want to find it then they will. I propose that it be put in the DLDB with a description along the lines of:
'OSMap is a program created by LegacyWeapon which allows users to open any map for viewing or editing. It is meant for educational purposes only. Staredit.net does not condone map plagiarism.'
That would be the same as we hosted porn adding this line.
'This video material is only for sexual education means. Staredit.net does not support pornography.'
I'm reminded of when sale of spray paint, a legitimate product, was banned to "stop vandalism".
We all know how that turned out... I hope.
Would you still be saying we should host it when LW's site comes around practically built over the top the thing?
OSMAP is not the proper way to go about editing existing maps, for one (protected maps lack labels, comments, ISOM, and sometimes get damaged when unprotected). OSMAP does not need to be in the hands of just anyone who wants it: Only those who can be trusted to use it for valid intent (like fixing patch-affected maps). Finally, if we were to change our stance on sponsoring OSMAP, that would be like having demodded LW for (almost) no reason to begin with. I don't think that counts as any more than a pride issue, though, but that still affects credibility to change stances like that.
Seven words:
Do not put OSMAP in our DLDB.
If people wish to use the program, get it somewhere else. Afterall, dont most of us want this program to get as little attention as possible?

No.
