Perhaps you should search for information on the official Nintendo site and Wikipedia pages to see how many times they refer to Yoshi as a he and Birdo as a she.

I believe Yoshi is male since the wikipedia article refers to Yoshi as he multiple times. Also on the official Nintendo site:
Wikipedia as a reference is the last place you want to go to. I can just go to wikipedia, type yoshi, and change all "he"'s to "she"'s.
Yoshi's definitely a girl. Look at the color. eww.. which guys wear green these days.. so outta fashion...

i think yoshi is like bisexual...cause err it can lay eggs so it must reproduce with itselve

Yoshis would not be classified under mammalia, and therefor would have unfamiliar sexual traits.
Random fact, -Ova is a Czech surname feminine suffix, meaning that Latova is female. (Mike told me this.)

I don't think Yoshi really has a gender. I think yoshi's race reproduces asexually.

This is just like the OTHER gender question that's on everyone's mind: Is Ash's Pikachu male or female? No one knows the answer...
100 minerals to the person finds out (using only official Pokemon sources, no Wikipedia that isn't a quote from something official).

Actually there are several differnt Yoshis so why couldnt they have both male and females?

well there still are several THE yoshis in the snes version... i dont see why they couldnt be male and female. anyway if they were the same or something i would say they wouldnt have a gender. they reproduce by asexual means
