If you want to know anything else about the history of Macs, download MacTracker:

http://www.mactracker.ca/

I like it because it plays back the old startup (and death...) chimes I remember from when I was a kid.

The old Macs always seemed to be mocking you if they broke - they played a little tune that was different depending on the model.

Considering there are ways to convert programs so that they are able to be used on any system, I have to say the Mac is better, Windows is more user friendly.

I've also heard the whole Bill Gates stole the program now known as Windows from Mac, but just made it simpler and easier to use. Then he basically just bought many programs for his system.

I have noticed that in lots of books MAC'S Were the computers used, Not pc's. Weird.

Product placement.

And commercials.

Every computer seen in entertainment is always a Mac. They rock at product placement.

LOL smile.gif, mocking teh users ftw tongue.gif

I personally am a Windows user, I don't have that many problems with crashing that you Mac users talk about. Also I like the idea that almost all programs are designed for Windows (I hear Mac users talking about how a lot of the map making and mod making tools won't work for Macs) so I never have issues with using a program. Right clicking is also something funny to joke about with Mac users wink.gif. Right now I'm happy with Windows, so yeah..

Why do people think you cant right click with Mac? Use a USB, normal mouse. Or you could go the route i did, and get a wireless mighty mouse. It looks like it doesnt have buttons, but has a left and right sensor underneith the single button plus a tiny infinite direction scroll ball! I like that mouse.

Ya, but a power point remote isn't much use to a mac.

Whoever said that Linux is only good for servers is dead wrong, there are several variants that are excellent for day-to-day use, such as Debian and Ubuntu. Ubuntu is especially user-friendly, and has amazing out-of-the-box functionality, as well as a cool "software catalog" full of open-source apps that you can download, all free.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-11-01 at 22:48:26
And yeah.. to say it's only good at servers... how did you get that? You can't really classify Linux alone... Linux is so wide... every Linux distrobution does it's own little thing...

First of all, I wonder why it would matter who favors what? If you ask me, Macintosh is probably my answer because I have it. Another thing, pc users, if you say PC is better because of its compatibility and its enabled features to run .exe, Memgraft, etc. Macs can also. There is a program known as Virtual PC 07 that creates a virtual OS allowing the computer to run both Macintosh and Windows. Furthermore, Powerbooks have a program called BootCamp that allows users to startup their computer with a choice of Macintosh OSX or Windows XP. People underestimate the uses of Macs so much thinking PC are the only "good" computers, well it seems I've proved you wrong, eh?

Anyways, Macs have simple and more efficient programs rather than just writing program codes with applications that allow you to create UI, mapmakings, mods, and everything else and more that the PC does. Mac applications are (in my opinion) simpler, more efficient, more organized, and simply better.

No offense but, 9 out of 10 people who say PC are better than Mac haven't even used a Macintosh before. Sure old versions of Mac such as a classic OS9 might not be a real competition, but people need to understand that Macs are just like PC with everything. The OS can be changed, the writing software, and any other additionals.

By the way: Macintosh > Microsoft Windows tongue.gif

To be technical, Apple bought the GUI from Xerox. biggrin.gif

Bill Gates took "T-DOS" from someone and turned it into "MS-DOS," he didn't take Windows from Apple. You were right, however, about his ability to purchase programs for Windows.

*DevliN looks over at his three-button mouse*
*DevliN looks back at his Mac computer screen*

I love my Mac simply because it is one complete package. Rather than buying a computer and then buying an OS, Apple designs its computers and its operating systems.

And on a larger note, Macs have Final Cut Pro. If you know anything about professional film editing, that reason should suffice.

All mac user can test it if you want just message me on msn the_ian_man@hotmail.com.
PC's can run almost any program wich I wish macs could, but I used to use a pc and it would die at a power outage. Macs save everything when you do it so forcing it to quit by unpluging it doesn't kill it too much.

Emulators are not the same as actually using the operating system. All PCs have the ability to duel-boot operating systems. Infact, I currently have 5 OSes on my computer.

And bootcamp isn't a program.

I don't even know what you're trying to say, but I think it's that there's a perfect end all Mac programming language? There isn't. You cannot program better applications on either OS.

No offense, but 87% of people make up statistics on the spot. You are one of them. I used a Mac almost everyday in the summer, not only is the user interface worse, it frequently crashed when I tried to do routine things that take about 1% of my system resources on my PC. And yes, it was OS X Leopard.

To make a mac rig with the same performance as a $2000 home built computer rig would cost upwards of $6000 and just look ugly in comparision. You fail at arguing.

By the way: Macintosh is not an OS, you fail at arguing, and Kubuntu > Windows Vista > Mac OS X.

And yet you can't boot any Apple OS on a PC (legally).

It sounds like you've just had some bad luck with Macs, to be honest. Tell me about these routine tasks that would take up 1% of your system resources on a PC.

Claiming that the user interface is worse is a little petty and, in my opinion, not necessarily wrong but definitely a product of having used Windows for the rest of your computing life.

Personally, I find Windows XP ugly but functional (again, an opinion that is a product of my prior experiences), and PCs to be generally less reliable than Macs. Of course, this is because the Mac OS is designed for an Apple computer so the chance of hardware conflicts and the like is much reduced. I've also discovered that Windows is definitely less 'fool-proof' than Mac OS, and appears to be poorly designed in places (the implementation of the system registry is particularly glaring).

I think the only advantages Windows has over Mac OS are gaming compatibility and...that's it!

And Syphon, by the way regarding this nonsense.

I got this 17" MacBook Pro (LAPTOP keep in mind) that cost me $3,600 but i got a free HP photo smart all in one printer with $100 mail in rebate, and a student discount so i actually paid $2,976 for it. It's packin:
* 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 3GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x2GB, 1x1GB
* 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 4200 rpm
* SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
* MacBook Pro 17-inch Widescreen Display
* Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English

and i bought a LaCie 250GB external hard drive for $122.53

Not to mention does your laptop have the security features that mine has? Probably not. My little built-in iSight camera thas smaller than a pencil eraser, serves as a security feature. If my laptop were to get stolen. I call Mac before the authorities, and they activate the iSight theft feature so that the next time the laptop is opened, it snaps a picture of the guy without him knowing and when he plugs it in, it sends it to Mac which is auto-forwarded to the police. Not to mention its got Lojack GPS system in it.

Go Mac!! biggrin.gif

To Will, opening Firefox or Safari and going to more than 3 tabs crashes every Mac I've ever used.

To BlackerWinter, I wasn't talking about laptops. They're all overpriced. I don't have a laptop, I never said I did. And that iSight 'take a picture' is a pretty frivolous security feature that proves nothing more than Mac has a large enough percentage of users who can't keep their eyes on their laptop to keep it from being stolen.

My PC has a biometric fingerprint scanner. Only I can use it, cool++.

Syphon.. I got one too!! tongue.gif (usb is wonderful)

And regarding the laptop crack u made, maybe when you become mature and go to college you'll see the use of a laptop, but until then, keep your thumb out of your mouth.

And maybe Mac laptops get stolen more because they're better than windows pieces o' junk? closedeyes.gif you have to better protect a more valuable asset, and i mean valuable in every sense of the word.
