Thats like comparing good charlotte to AC/DC, same genre but they are no where near the same sound. Also I listen almost exclusively to rap but it'll be a cold day in hell when I turn on BET or Vh1 to listen to what they call rap.

Good Charlotte and AC/DC are not in the same genre.

Panic! At the Disco, Rap, Country, and Screamo are my hated genres.

.. So.. don't listen to it?

I think people just hate emo's so much because it makes them feel like part of a majority. You would think if someone was part of a minority they would be more respectful of other minorities, but no!

In reply to Willhelm's post, i have to say i have only ever heard maybe 10 christian rock songs ever and enjoyed them. The rest i am forced to listen to because Techno is "of the devil".

I like alot of stuff, from Metal (but only REALLY good screamo, alot of it is just stupid crap.) or Rap (once again.. 90% crap..) to Techno, which is my favourite genre mainly because the people that make the music actually get credit for it. It really pisses me off seeing Ashlee Simpson, Madonna, Eminem and any other wankers that fit in that group making money from some song they didn't even write lyrics for! Like what the hell is the point of that? Apparantly some of them don't even sing.

Like, for instance, The Pussycat Dolls. When did it become acceptable for strippers to become world wide renowned musical artists, without lifting a finger?

That and the fact i absolutely love all the underground styles of Techno (Not most of the crappy house ministry of sound albums.. yeccch..) the stuff that is made for the sake of music and not money.

Money ruined everything. disgust.gif

And these are all opinions. I sure am judging rap by what I heard so far rather then by listening to all rap that ever came out or will come out. No one said there are no exceptions, though.

I just don't understand why some overrated music that emo's make just drives people into wearing tight girl pants and having hair over 1 eye...

In reply to the rap/techno thing, I think most rap is just pointless and has the same beat and talks about the same thing. Nothing new and nothing good about it. I listen to alot of techno and most of it is very good. But as you said, I agree with you on the whole Ashlee Simpson, Madonna, and Eminem thing. The thing about that is that they know something better than they have ever made can become even better if they just cover the song and they get all the money for it and hardly give any credit to the original producer of the song. Just people are greedy and know they can make money when other people know who they are and never heard the song before and are like "OMFG EMINEM MADE THAT SONG!! ITS SO GOOD!".

I hate:

Metal, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Country, Some rap, Techno, Trance, Bluegrass, Raggae, Classical, and some others.

I hate how some people stereotype rap though. It's not all "Ohz I'ma shoot your momz", you just need to listen to some good rap.

Since people looked at female performers more for their bodies than their musical talents.

Most Rock sucks, along with Metal(All types), Country,Rap, and some Disco. I love Mainstream Dance Music, along with Techno and Trance. DJ Tiesto FTW!

You, sir, are an idiot. Techno and Trance, especially, is nothing but loops of repetitive and monotonous sounds strung together - and most of it sounds like the rest of it. My left pinky toe could make a trance song for all the skill required in making one and it would sound no worse (or different for that matter) than whats currently out there. I would care to wager that most DJ's have 20+ albums because its so easy to make that garbage. Furthermore Techno/Trance has no purpose but to provide stimulation to mindless masses of people (often referred to as Zombies by nearby onlookers) who are high on acid or ecstasy in which case it doesn't take much stimuli to begin with.

DJ Tiesto can suck it.

Report this post, I insulted him.

Flaming me over my prefered music isn't going to push your point any closer. I enjoy Techno/Trance, it's fast, and I like fast music. If you enjoy listening to annoying country or just pointless rock, that's fine by me.

mu·sic (myōō'zĭk) Pronunciation Key
n.

1. The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre.

Seems to me that Techno and Trance are more music than most of the stuff out there today. chuiu, you're obviously entitled to your opinion, but we don't want you trying to force yours on us.

2. the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.

.. That doesn't even counter the argument, Techno and Trance use instruments.

Even if they didn't, the first definition still stands.

They said and. Not or. And. Rap only has rhythm. Do we need more proof that rap isn't music? I think not!

I would say Techno and Trance are considered music; they may not use instruments, but looking for loopholes never makes you wise. Computer-generation could be considered an instrument.

And I believe my money would be safe if I bet you have no clue how to actually make quality techno music..

Techno/trance stimulates me, and I haven't ever touched ecstasy, or anything similar to it.

But then again, you decide what I think sounds good or bad, so I guess trance/techno do suck!
