Well, it all depends on the players point of view. It can be a newb who only plays defense and wouldnt know wat to do. You can either A, have a special tutorial for that kind of player or B explain advanced things an advanced player would want to know.

Write a tutorial on how to play Monopoly with your modifications. The tutorial for advanced settings isnt really neccesary, just say its for the advanced player.
For the tutorial, is it going to be accesible while other players are performing their turns? Such as, any text you would normally recieve during another player's turn is removed while you read the tutorial until your turn comes up. (it would "bookmark" your place until you accessed the tutorial again and resume from where you left off.
And, if u havent already, make a "Classic Game... Are you sure? Y/N" When people pick a game style, before any voting.
okay thanks for the useful feedback guys. ive made a few decisions. once the game settings have been established, there will be a main menu that lasts for a maximum of 2 minutes, which looks something like this;
What would you like to do?
[1] Play a tutorial
[2] Read the official rules
[3] Talk to another player
[4] Start the gameif the player selects option 1, an interactive tutorial is fired. option 2 opens another menu, which has a list of topics, such as
Mortgages, Dice, Salary, Selling Property, Auctions, etc. I will use the official rules book as a reference. option 3 allows you to interupt a specified, or all players, and they are displayed a menu which asks them if they want to accept your talk request. if they deny it, they return back to their previous menu. option 4 allows you to start the game if all other players are ready. also, you can exit any menu at any time.
and yes, all of the menus use a bookmark system.

I personally think thats a dumb idea...This game just has to be a good working monopoly and nothing else. That will be a hit on battle net with other stuff people will think its dumb and wont truely be monopoly

...Cheats? In Monopoly?
And also, alot of people would evade the tax & pay $50 to get out of jail. I know I would, besides, its too funny when someone lands on taxes already, they dont need to start going to jail too.
ive made the decision of leaving it out. i think the gameplay will be good enough without it anyway.

I don't think you quite understood what he said. He's saying that if a player is in debt and has to pay a tax, there would be a 50% chance that they are thrown in jail or get away without paying. What you're thinking is that a player has an option to pay some sort of tax or just $50 to get out of jail.
nono you were right devlin. that was the original idea, but im leaving it out. ive been thinking of something else however. maybe there is a password you get when you win a game, that allows you to change the version of the board. currently, im using the original london version, using pounds. its possible i could create a password entry that changes the version to america, using dollars. so all the names of the properties change, and all the
£s turn to
$s. anyway, im still not 100% about the whole idea of having a password. i just thought it would add a bit of mystery to it. you know how great it feels when you reveal a secret in a game!
