Mobile shield archs, tux im suprised you don't know how taht works.

All it is basically is moving the observers somewhere while being attacked, preferably by alot of corsairs.

It looks pretty cool, but in my opinion nothing like rain.

He said with nothing attacking it and I'm sure he didn't mean the shield being on forever with all the corsairs attacking it, he said the shield flickers. I don't think "Mobile shield archs" would make good rain -.-

He said nothing nearby attacking them, and unless you tell me some other way to make the shields go on without them being attacked, then I'm gonna continure thinking its mobile shield archs.

Yea I didn't think it would be good rain either, but even if its something other than I think, shields don't look much like rain anyways.

I'm also working on lightning, I can't make temp use pso storm alot, and all psi storm sprites or w.e I find crash SC. any Ai script that lets you make storm?

Anyways, the rain is mreo important than the lightning.

Is there a way to make scarabs go through things so that if I had to sue them as rain, they wouldn't dodge the units? I know how to control them, but I can't make them go through things, and doubt there's a way, but I figured I'd ask.

I tried using cloaked SCVs attacking burrowed lings, but that didn't work too well.

Look at this map. It shows how to make the comp use all the spells including psi storm, it might help.

And scarabs won't go through things, maybe disabling them or something, try it.

Whoops nevermind I'm stupid. crazy.gif

Maybe you can use some pylon aura sprites to get a better rain effect and make it darker.

Good idea.

When I go into the site, it says I need a password and username. I'll be back online in 2 hours or something and I guess I'll make one then, but ti shows how to make all spells go? cool.

use a bunch of observers....wait, they answerd your topic already ranting.gif

But Observers dont look that much like rain. I'll use w/e looks the most realistic rain effects someone comes up with, but they're all pretty cool and I could use them in my map.

edit:

The map you posted was cool, but the Terran beacon didn't work, lol. However, it was very useful. All I need now is some kind of small blue thing that can move fast and be moved by triggers and not crash SC, or just be remade (like missiles).

I think a good way would be to make a marine cloaked, so its shooting but can't kill anything. so all you see is the gunshots
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-11 at 08:09:48
I'll see if it works well.

im using marines&ghosts shooting at observers as a part of weather system in my map
ALOT of marines look nicely, ghosts make puddles
need to think how to place marines =) currently high ground
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-12 at 16:10:16
I can make puddles easily. Just stack a lot of beacons then disable them the way the blur FX mapdisabled a bunch of floor hatches (I'll post the trigs when I have time), and they look like puddles.

I just want stuff to slide down quickly, preferabbly slanted. I think interceptors and marines combined are my best option, but makeing the interceptors attack in one direction is best. Too bad you can't disable interceptors and make it act like a disabled marine (shooting mid air).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lisk on 2004-09-15 at 07:16:21
observers also create wind of some sort.

have you ever played amazing turret defence? like when there are tons of bunkers and a fast unit you can actualy think its raining =))

as for the lightning
2 pc's unallied with each other
create high templar+some units(marine)
the marine will attack in a sec and the templar will storm
remove both in lets say 2 seconds?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-15 at 15:32:43
Do you have a screenshot of the bunker thing, sounds like a great idea, I forgot about putting units in bunker and moving them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lisk on 2004-09-15 at 16:53:33
i use marines and arbiters over high terrain to hide them. quite simple =)
