Now it works fine. I just have a few more symptoms to add on... Oh, and BW to install. pinch.gif

As for Geist...I dunno, I might make a better version. The first version kinda sucked, didn't it? I'd have to make the arena a lot smaller.

Hey look, I don't wanna start any censored.gif with anyone, I'm just saying what "she" tells me.

I said I'd give "created by" and "idea by" credits, because I do believe it is your map and your idea - and frankly you deserve most of the credit for Insanity Redux. If you still may want to collaborate, that'll be fun - if not, that's cool as well. If you don't want me to release this at all, that's fine. As I said, I just thought it was a great idea and I didn't want it to go to waste - specially with all the new tricks for SE that have been discovered since IR was started.

I'd also like to add that I added more insanity affects and new features so I'm not actually ripping off your map aside from the idea. Also, I think your terrain is godly, so I created my own so as not to seem like I stole your terrain or anything.

I'm truly sorry for all the problems this has caused.

I'm not mad at you or anything. It's just that when Eury quit the map, I went through a lot of hell to fix the triggers, and now Eury acts like he/she did most of the work. His/her triggers didn't even work the way they were supposed to. I think I only kept the respawn triggers that he/she made, and the puzzles.

Like I said, feel free to release Insanity: Redux on East. I never intended to release IR on East, so if you really want to make your own version, that's probably the best way to do it so it doesn't cause problems.

The collaboration thing would be a good idea if I wasn't almost finished with the map as it is. The only thing that there would be for you to do is duplicating triggers, and that's no fun.

If you want, sometime I could show you the updated version of IR (I'm pretty sure I still have the most recent version in backup...) so you can get a better feel of how the map is supposed to be.

And thanks for the terrain comments. I actually have to give partial credit to Shatter (I believe that's his name...I can't remember, it was a long time ago) for setting up the basic look for a few of the areas.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2004-09-14 at 00:40:16
Alright then I'll do that. And yes, the latest version would be great. Eury sent me one which didn't work at all. Not even the insanity points triggers worked, so I'd never go insane - in the game that is... <.<

And about the terrain, I actually remember complementing you on it many times when all 3 of us would test together.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JokersSpecter on 2004-09-14 at 00:48:56
Yeah, I do remember playing it with "][)S-DevlinD". That was a long time ago...

Okay, well, I'll e-mail you a copy or something once I test it out to make sure it's the right version. It might take a few days, because I need to get one of my friends to burn me BW.

I think my favorite part of the map is the briefing... Weird, I know, but in the latest version you'll see why.

Alrighty, sounds good.

Now whether or not I decide to work on this with Eury now is a different story... blink.gif ermm.gif happy.gif helpsmilie.gif tongue.gif

This is Euryale, this is the name I use for most things besides B.net. I think I've been given a bad rap here. Most of my triggers did work, but joker, frankly at the second half you were just so uninclined to test I found other people to, so you were left with unclompleate versions. The triggers were buggy, to say they wern't would be a lie, and the map was a good learning experience for me. The only triggers you did was the beginging 3 minutes of the game. I did the symptoms, the parts, the effects, the "dungeon", the randomization, the text messages, the boss battle, and all the part effects. You did the begining, the caves, and the terrain. My triggers were much more complex and therefore required much more testing, equalling more work.

As for taking credit that was yours, I never really did that, not that the credit was really yours to begin with (Eternal Darkness). All I took credit for was what I did, which was a lot more than you did. Devlin helped more than you did with the 40+ times we needed to test. Thats just my side of the story.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2004-09-14 at 01:53:34
And now, since I never copied any trigs from IR, I'll have to do them all from scratch - so no matter how you look at it Joker's IR will be done and he'll take credit for his, while Eury will have her triggers in my version and get credit for it. Both parties get what they want in the end.

The map gave me more than I expect to get from it being released. I dont care who gets credit, I did it for fun, I cant make any money from it etc.. etc..
Khaoskreator my good friend refered me to this topic, with Joker flaming me, which is what made me reply.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JokersSpecter on 2004-09-14 at 02:03:49
Eury, you lied about your gender...so how are people supposed to believe you?

You can ask Helmarch, Geno, Mog, anybody that I had to fix up your jacked up triggers. I showed it to a lot of people, and they all agreed that your triggers were screwed up. I tested the map with somebody every step of the way, so I've got witnesses to prove that I did the majority of the work. Even Devlin says the version you gave him wasn't working.

Wasn't he the one who tested with you?

Anyway, I don't get what you're saying. You and I both worked hard on it, and yes, I'll admit you did lay the foundations for a lot of the triggers, but I still had to completely redo the majority of them because they interfered with each other when it came down to it. Then when I was working on it, and I didn't understand one of the triggers, I came and asked you for help on them, remember?

You were playing Warcraft 3, I believe, and you ended up quitting the project.

Now, if you really did more work then me, let's compare YOUR version with MINE.

Devlin, sorry you ended up in between this. Your intentions were only good from the start. I just hope you understand that, as the creator of the map, I don't like being told that I did hardly any work on it at all. Especially when I've been working on the map for well over a year and a half (on and off, that is) and Eury only worked for about a few weeks to a month.

EDIT:

In response to Eury's most recent post. It takes two people to fight. You're trying to defend yourself while I'm trying to defend myself. We both have good arguments, in a sense. I just don't like being told that I did hardly any work on my map. I'm sure that if the same thing happened to you, you wouldn't like it either.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RabidRodents on 2004-09-14 at 02:15:41
"so I've got witnesses to prove that I did the majority of the work." Ok so who?

"You were playing Warcraft 3, I believe, and you ended up quitting the project." Yes I dabled in SC, WC, (Mainly Half life), but you had long abandoned the project before I did. As I said before, the last half of the project I would work for 3 hours and you'd test for 5. The triggers were buggy, but If you had shown even a little intrest we could have worked together and fixed them.

"Now, if you really did more work then me, let's compare YOUR version with MINE." Sorta Impossible because it was your map, so i felt obliged to show you my progress.

"You can ask Helmarch, Geno, Mog, anybody that I had to fix up your jacked up triggers. I showed it to a lot of people, and they all agreed that your triggers were screwed up." I doubt they seriously even looked at the triggers. They played the map, and it was buggy. They looked at the triggers, they were buggy (duh). Its not even their map, what right do they have to judge just how messed up it is. The lack of work you put in doesn't even let you decide that.

"Eury, you lied about your gender...so how are people supposed to believe you?" This is a seperate issue. If it really ticks out off (Phyco biggrin.gif) ask khaos about it.

" I'll admit you did lay the foundations for a lot of the triggers, but I still had to completely redo the majority of them because they interfered with each other when it came down to it." As I said before this is a learning map, so it was expected that things will take longer. When I was putting serious work into this (4-6 hours a week) you weren't even working on the triggers. I'd do say 9 parts, be tired, and hand it to you for the 10th, or at least for the first half of the project.

I dont know where you are coming at, but theres no way to prove anything really. I just came here to defend myself against exaturated lies and truths. If you are really this sore about it as you seem, take all the credit. Whatever helps you sleep at night happy.gif .
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JokersSpecter on 2004-09-14 at 03:53:23
Well then. It's obvious you don't care about the credit.

I can't take all the credit. That's the problem. I did most of the work, but you were just one of the many, many friends who helped me with the map. Even minor things, like testing, deserves credit.

Seeing as how over the past...year or so, we haven't said more than a few words to each other (not counting this forum), let me thank you while I'm thinking about it for being a good friend, back when we WERE friends.

RabidRodents,

For one joker did have fix up your censored.gif . I looked at your triggers total mess. I dont even know how joker could even let you work on map in first place. Even so this is getting way off topic of this map so get THE FU CK BACK ON TOPIC!

I agree.. get back on topic, we want to see the progress on the real map thats going ahead...

I am never fond of the idea of working together, they cause arguments - demolish relationships. Well... not really tho, but just watch where you guys are going next time you work with someone. Because trigger clashes are extremely common if people work together.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2004-09-14 at 17:41:55
Actually I'm working on another RPG with Oo.EviL.oO and we're working fine together. I guess it just depends on how well you know eachother - he knows I work hard when I'm motivated and same goes for him.

Back to the topic, in a sense all of this was on topic because Insanity Redux is just a completely redone Insanity Reload. In this case, we were discussing both maps, keeping in mind that I was still making "my" IR. Once Euryale got involved, I suppose you could positively look at that as me saying that he (damn you for getting me on that one!!!!!!!!) and I could collaborate on Insanity Redux.

But yeah, things got out of hand...

Progress Report:
Editted some terrain and started some trigger work. Still unplayable, however.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-15 at 10:16:49
it seems hard and very difficult, and i do have one question, the insanity points, can they be avoided? or r they always in the game like if u beat it rly quick
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2004-09-15 at 19:43:09
You can't avoid them. Every few seonds you're outside the ship, you gain points. You can remove points at a healing bay in the ship, once you find a power cell for the bay.

And you can't beat the map quickly, its impossible to do it in less than 20 minutes.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2004-09-15 at 19:51:05
I believe I saw this map a while ago in an unfinished form (or another one very very similar to it), and frankly while the concept sounds good it needs to have some sort of plotwise or gameplay-relevant function or else it just starts to annoy players over time. That or put in a system (subquests?) to make certain effects go away as you progress into the game.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2004-09-15 at 19:57:01
Actually there is a plot (and there was a plot in Insanity Reload as well). In this one its basically that cliché start where your ship crashes on this strange planet. In the process, important parts of the ship are lost (i.e. power cells for the healing bay, cockpit, etc.). If the team wants to leave the planet alive and safe they hae to search for the missing parts. In the end, they'll have to fight a boss and then they can leave easilly.

...uhh what?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JokersSpecter on 2004-09-16 at 01:04:48
Tuxedo, yes, I think I showed you my map. I'm not sure though... As for the taking effects away thing, the more parts you get, the easier it is to play. One part, for example, makes you respawn faster.

Maybe I showed you the original Insanity...that one has no plot whatsoever... IR is a huge step up compared to Insanity.

In Insanity Reload, you only gain insanity points when you're near monsters. I think it'd be hard if you constantly gain it while you're outside the ship.

(I'll just be popping in every now and then to make comments about your progress... If it starts to annoy you, just tell me.)

EDIT:

Oh yeah, just for kicks, I'll post the insanity effects I have so far in IR. I'm doing this from memory, though, so I probably won't remember them all. Also, some of these may not be in the map yet...

Paranoia - Player runs from monsters every now and then.
Blindness - Vision turns off for about 20 seconds and then turns back on.
Hearing Sounds - "Nuclear Launch Detected" 'Nuff said.
Forgetfulness - Every minute or so the player loses 5 minerals.
Rage - Player begins to attack allies.
Split Personality - Player turns into a non-attacking unit.
Hallucination - Player attacks a hallucination, which means trouble if you're in the middle of a battle all ready.
Dizziness - The screen changes to different parts of the map randomly every few minutes.
Seeing your own death - The player's unit appears to explode, but reappears moments later just as if nothing had happened (yes, the life is the same too, it doesn't create a new unit).
Binding(may change name) - The player becomes attached to another player, and cannot move away from him/her. He/she must travel with the other player.

Umm...that's all I can remember, and I can't open up the map to check. Oh well, I'm sure I'll

Joker: Yeah I have all those in some Display Text Message trigger on the IR vfersion I have. As you can tell, I decided to use some and not use others.

As far as the constant gain of insanity goes, I figured it would add another level of difficulty if they gain 1 Insanity Point every 5-10 seconds. They can always run back to the ship to stop this and to lose Insanity Points.
