How can I be the only one to say Time Splitters 2? It's gotta be the best modern one. Cmon people, stop saying Halo. It's old, the multiplayer system on there is really boring and it's got very little to do on it. And Halo 2 isn't even out yet so don't say that.

I agree with you on saying Timesplitters is the best shooter on console currently. The only gripes I have with it is the fact you can carry 20 guns, needless to say I like some realism in games. It's nice to carry 20 guns, but it doesn't have as much strategy as choosing which gun you like best and having some realistic body figures aka CS... The story was interesting, but a bit too short. The AI was pretty weak, they wait a few seconds then fire, and sometimes their accuracy is a bit... um hackish... Graphics are good, but I prefer realistic models over the cartoony sense, nice arsenal of weapons, the map EDITOR WAS A FRICKING GREAT IDEA! (though they could add more stuff to the editor) Multiplay is a blast, though it can get repetitive after a while... Music is nice, and there's lots and lots to unlock, wow...
The reason I place PC multiplay shooters over consoles is because they are customizable and the human will always be more unpredictable than the AI. Bots get boring... If you play console FPS by yourself, it gets worn out...
Goldeneye had great length, impressive arsenal of weapons, 4 player awesome multiplay, great music and good graphics for it's time.
Perfect Dark improved in almost all areas, but the story did not divulge me as GE did and the nasty choppy effect when you got punched was annoying... It had lot's of customizability though.
Though these 3 games have influenced me a lot... Half-Life is what changed my view of a shooter forever. The story is somewhat realistic, dark and incredibly immersive. You get placed in the shoes of an everyday hero and there's no real moment where you can be sure it's safe. There is a nice selection of weapons, no major complaints and overall, it's just a way a shooter should be done.
It also doesn't hurt that it hosts dozens of mods that are each compelling and interesting to play adding to everlasting value and replayability. On top of this, it SHOULD work on many of the low end computers since it only needs a 16mb video card to work and it was a game where the AI was not AS retarded as some games... You have the tools, it's up to you to solve the puzzle.
Half-Life 2 however... will be a game I am looking forward to the most.
