I think that the obs thing would not work.
If you are attacking a guy and the obs would fly over the unit will keep on firing at the ground unit. The only way he would shoot at the obs, is if he was not shooting at anything at all, and besides, the only ground units that can attackt the air are Marines, ghost and goliaths. Then there are firebats, Seige Tanks and Vultures would can't attack the air.

I was planning on making a map like this before but then I forgot about it. Since you reminded me...I am not going to do it since you are already doing something like my idea. It wasn't as complex as your but biggrin.gif . Anyways I don't think you should have "guard towers" or make it so that they can be destroyed. Like real war, because (I am not sure) are you saying that they CAN'T attack you? they just sit there and wait for you? If you are maybe you should make it so the guard towers can be destroyed and that they can attack you, just like real war.

You should really mess with the obs thing to make the comp 'miss' alot. IT'll be more realistic and i've never seen anything like tat in a map!

I don't think he was talking about Observers (was he?) I think he was talking about obstacles like buildings or terrain. Because units can miss sometimes due to the terrain.

Anyways, good luck on your map.

He wasnt talking about obs, it's just something i thought up on the spot =D. And it doesnt have to be observers...it could be burrowed defilers or w/e. I haven't thought about it but im sure you could cook something up to make this work. Like have the units borrwed and when the player brings his unit near one the defiler becomes a comp that is enemy to the badguys and maybe they will attack. I'm pretty sure units that are being attacked will turn to their attacker...but maybe units that attack because units near them are being hit will maybe attack the defilers....i'm not sure.

That could work, but the only way I could think of making it work are these two possibilities.

#1) Create one friendly defile that follows around the unit, and gets a fifty/fifty chance, to attack either the unit or the defiler.

#2) Create and bunch of defilers at certain intersection where the two armies meet, and create ten or so defilers for the enemy and create three defilers per hero for each player.

I wouln't make it follow the unit around because it will slow its walking speed which would be super lame. All you have to do is have a bunch of locations and give to the comp when the player brings a unit by...remove when the player leaves. IF you don't have spare locations then you could do it your way.
