Its better for isometric terrain, starforge runs circles around SCM draft for making sqaure terrain.
lol but scm draft is better switching from square to isomic too but starforge has the edge with the custom brushes
I don't know why you say it is better for switching between the two, Yeah SF doesn't do isometric terrain perfectly. SF also has the edge on a supperior pallet that doesn't get in the way, a master pallet that is resizeable and easyer to change brush sizes. SCM draft has the advantage of perfect minimap colors and animated tiles.
well i just say that because if you place square terrain on your map in starforge and u decide you dont want it there and u try to cover it over it messes up and scm draft 2 doesnt do that for me

There is only one correct editor to use, the one that gets the job done. Its up to the mapmaker to decide witch one he prefers to use.
This should be made into a Mapmaking Tip.
I don't see why people hate SCMDraft 2 it's the editor I used for all my terrains in all my maps.
ya im with you beer keg and idk if that should really be in the map making tips

Last time i checked SCM draft had the same problem. It can't be easly fixed because sqaure terrain doesn't modify the isom section. So when you place isometric terrain ontop of the sqaure terrain the isom section still thinks the old stuff was there.

Just a thought doesnt it have the same problem?
u bolt head posted the same exact thing above you mapper! and scm draft still has minor problems with that but starforge is a lot worse in my opinion
ScmDraft can't exactly place good terrain, like for example: doodads. The doodad section in SCMDraft are REAL doodads. This is a problem, you know why? Because doodads are limited. Starforge can place the ramp without it being a doodad. Starforge has custom brushes, can place any terrain tile, can spice up the terrain sprites. Etc. It also has custom brushes. You can save those brushes and continue later. You know Starcraft can have some wonderful terrain, but it isn't put into use. We need some terrain-only projects people.
I use:
StarFire Edit: Regular Terrain / Triggers / Unit Placement
Emerald Edit: Regular Terrain
When I go to my friend's house...
StarForge: Square Terrain
ProEdit: Protection
With the newer version of
SF we'll have 2 see the changes...

SCMDraft triggers might be something to get used to, but it works fine to me. Using ProEdit for protection, SCMDraft for practically everything else.
I used to use GaiaEdit, something I designed myself. Sort of Emerald Placer. See attachment (Built with MPQDraft).
trigers with scm draft? i think you mean starforge, now that i learned how to use starforge triggers this is what i use
starforge 2.2-partial terrain;partial triggering;unit placement;name colors;doodads and sprites;other things i cant think of
scm draft 2-partial terrain;some unit placement;sprites;doodads
extra editor 2.6 fix-partial triggering;unit placement;other things
now my life is much easier with starforge

no.
since when were you able to use triggers with scm draft? id like to know

hmm well i dled that and got it working but its really confusing, maybe ill try it when its in its final release or when it has a help section. ill stick with xtra and starforge triggering for now...
Are we still talking about what editor we use?
Anyways, here is what I use
Starforge - Triggers (so much faster);
X-tra Editor - Moving triggers up and down and maybe Isometric terrain
Protection - ProEdit
I use mostly Starforge for everything, just with you could move triggers up and down on Starforge. Don't like how when you edit a trigger it brings you back to the top of the list...Very good overall though.
didnt heimadal(i think i spelled his name wrong) fix that problem by adding the move up or down feature in version 2.2?
