I'm starting to like how this game is turing out.

What kind of boss fights will there be?
Where does the game take place?

Good decision on the tileset it looks really good.

How are you dealing with Lag issues currently, and will the upgraded weapons be the important part, or the units.

Have you fought of enabling the opponents to cast similar spells themselves from time to time, and even the option to counter-spell for both sides.

With Computers i'd mix a Random system, with a percentage chart, so that with certain units/levels the level is creater, therefore the chance of the computer doing things are higher.

Computer
Condition:
Switch 1 Set
Switch 2 Set
Switch 3 Set
Something is at least x
something is at most y
action
computer does a spell

also have it for counter spells, either constantly have it randomise, or else have it for when a player casts. and remember you can make it work for other random amounts as well...

In the real game, upgraded beams just make it alot easier to kill an enemy, not much of a big-story
line option. And i'll try out your suggestion about them attacking in custom ways or countering. happy.gif

In this map i'll be lucky if i add more then 2 bosses, because this is just the beginning, this maps quest
gets you a couple upgrades and gets you into the actuall areas.
And if you want to know where this map takes place, i suggest reading the story-line...

[ UPDATES ]

Since i will be using Virtual/Unit HP Combo, i thought that i should use special conditions that damage you,
such as Phazon, and the Air of the Dark Dimension, etc. I am currently getting all the scenery objects that
damage you.

what do you mean scenery objects that will dmg you? Also, in the final map is there going to be a supreme boss of the entire series? If so can you describe a bit about him/her, and elaberate on how you will make boss battles?

Scenery objects er... Like a placed unit that represents a main part of whats around you in metroid... Like Phazon, a light blue crystal like substance that deals massive amounts of damage in Prime 1-2. And the last boss... You'll know who he is if you've beaten Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and some bosses may have stages, like complete tasks to move on to the next part of the battle, Like against the main area Guardian: Chykka in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes... First Larvae stage, then it hatches, then eventually it gets taken over by the Ing, etc.
But i am also currently mapping out how you'll fight guardians: options, styles, areas. etc.

Fenix'01 Arcadia map had an interesting feature of using similar units for Bosses/Norm units by having them owned by different colours to show bosses, basic, and special so that you could run off limited numbers of units and still get a wide range. Also affecting your choice of combat was your own unit.

Not sure how your working your battle system though.

When do you expect the map to come out?

What kind of music are you using in your map?

Could you post an example of music or something?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by VoidArchon(MC) on 2004-12-05 at 15:27:50
The battle system is combo of a couple,
You have a shuttle, first unload the desired unit which switches to the weapon you want say:
Probe = Light Beam, SCV = Dark Beam, and Drone = Annihilator Beam, Medic = Missile
when the Probe is unloaded, it will first say like 'Selected Light Beam'. Then you unload the Probe again to fire the Light Beam, it shows a special effect showing that the weapon has been fired, like using the Location Grid, with explosions, observers, etc, each hit subtracts HP from the enemy, i will work all beams and other attacks to work together.
Normally if you.. say i used a Light Beam 2 times, making the enemy's hp go down to say... 50%, then i switch to and use the Dark Beam, normally it would reset the enemy HP to say 75%. But i'm going to make it keeps subtracting HP.
When you approach a swarm of enemies, it will target 1 enemy (gives to another player). then you have the options of what to do (as beam system is explained).
or theres other options like Morph Ball Bomb, etc. I'm also adding a feature that allows you to switch targets wink.gif. And when you hit an enemy, the enemy will either counter your attack (rerely), or most likely he will attack back (with custom attacks). When you die, your unit is revived in the same spot, but subtracts a certain ammount of health from the virtual health (score board) depending on what unit kills you. There is ALOT of stuff that this system will require, but this map series will be the best! To be the best you need to do your best.

List of some Weapons:
  • Light Beam
  • Sun Burst: Expansion of Light Beam
  • Dark Beam
  • <need name>: Expansion of Dark Beam
  • Annihilator Beam
  • <need name>: Expansion of Annihilator Beam
  • Missile
  • Seeker Missile: Expansion of Missle (Targets up to enemies, and shoots 5 missiles that seek out the enemy)
  • Morph Ball Bomb
  • Power Bomb
  • Boost Ball (Need to find out how'll this will work)

Uh i have no idea when it will come out, cause i work on it from time to time.

I will be using the Temple Grounds theme music from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes happy.gif

And when i get the music, i'll submit it to the Download Database.

Are you going to use a Health Counting System (creating units on a special place or using death counters) or are you doing something new ? If that is so, could you tell me, if you want, how you're going to do that (in big lines) ???

It all looks really neet, I hope it will all work as it should, then it would be a great game smile.gif.

[ OTHER INFORMATION ]
  • Unit Interaction: I'm still got a couple glitches tongue.gif when i fix a glitch, another
    glitch spawns, etc. So i wil be changing it to death counters, and basicly the
    whole trigger system itself.

  • Battle System: this marvel is a combo of a couple,
    You have a shuttle, first unload the desired unit which switches to the weapon you want say:
    Probe = Light Beam, SCV = Dark Beam, and Drone = Annihilator Beam, Medic = Missile
    when the Probe is unloaded, it will first say like 'Selected Light Beam'. There is ALOT of stuff that this system will require, but this map series will be the best! To be the best you need to do your best.
    [NOTE: Theres alot more to the battle system but it gets a little complicated for ME to say, and i found an easier way for the part of dealing damage to the enemy cry.gif]

    List of some Weapons:

    * Light Beam
    * Sunburst: Expansion of Light Beam
    * Dark Beam
    * Darkburst: Expansion of Dark Beam
    * Annihilator Beam

    * Morph Ball Bomb
    * Power Bomb

  • Virtual Unit HP/Condition Damage: Sometimes when some enemies
    attack, their attack might contain some special elements, such as
    fire, phazon, acid, poision, which can eat away at your suit, causing
    you to lose certain ammount of damage rapidly, or even whats around
    you can cause damage, such as Phazon Energy. When touching this substance
    is causes you to lose health pretty fast.
