Well for the name factor...
Keep the names elaborate, but not so simple its like Bob... because, thought it may work for those who like simple names, the real rpg populous will prefer those crazy names like Donzayta the Newbie!

Personally, i think people should create a map which is just one huge beautiful town, without all these caves and such, and you'll walk around to do things, like those first moments of WoW, and since its all one large town, you can do many things and there are loads of different ways to complete parts as it were.

do not feel discouraged by any negative comments on your work, its because people have experienced great projects and expect similar things from everyone, which is unfair on anyone who cannot create the greatest maps, through simple lack of experienced knowledge.

I'd say complete yourt project and you'll be ahead of the majority of people here, and then you'll have a good standing ground.

Tomorow, Decmeber 13th 20004 I will officialy star working on it. I'v already started doing some stuff but npthing big, and tomorrow I will start working on it everynight (of course if I have nothing more important to do). After finishing this one I already have 2 other mapping project so I hope I wont take more than a month or so do to this one.

Ya I did, it's now Dec 16th, I've almost done the Terran. I will post screen shots soon.

ADDITION: Oh and by the way. I made some changes to the Story Line and Renamed my Characters. But since I don't want any comments or anything about them im not telling them until im put it out to the public.

Ok, So your telling me that I should only do one huge town that you can do alot of things but no other caves, no boss to defeat, just one town on a 256x256 map? That sounds real weird. Or do you meen the normal map, but instead of putting caves and other stuff that doesn't connect to the storyline replase it by making a llarger town? What the use? Please Explain me because if I i only make a bigger town and no anexes, there wont be other than 1 ending....

Ok, So I will restart and do a Big town were you can do lots of stuff, but the will only be one ending and one path, is that ok? Please answer fast i am waitting for your answers to continue with the locations or to know If I should start over the terran...

Anyways, storyline is great, I would love to see this in action!

You SHOULD NOT (!!!!) make only one path and ending, you should have some freedom of where you go and how you go etc. Multiple paths and endings increase the fun, replay, and it just makes it better I think.
And multiple towns is also better then one big one I think, coz then you'll have to travel to a other city to get certain things or something like that, and you could let people travel between towns etc.

Ya ok I decided not to start over, nut I will make some modifications to the map. I will take out the useles stuff and creat a better land scaping **Acording to you guys**

Bolt was going to do a map where you are in one big town exploring and solving some mystery. Sounded like a great idea, but then it died when Bolt decided to quit (he did quit, right?). Anyway, don't let people make such huge decisions for you. When it's no longer what you wanted to make, you lose motivation and do a poor job.

i love rpgs but the only good ones that i eva play dont have enuf rpg do you no what i mean thats the kinda thing that i wold like to see giting keys an time like night and day butt no won makes **** like that

_skillledghost, maybe your point would be better taken if someone could read it. Let me try and rephrase for you;

_I love RPGs, but these days the only ones I see don't have enough features like getting keys to unlock doors and further quests, day and night time variance, and other more advanced features to better an RPG. Those type of maps are seen very rarely.

What Will Be The Story... I wana know...
Most people judge games by the story...
Example: HouseOfTheHaunted... Fun map... no much story exept to get out alive... its a good story... kinda...

If I need help it will not be questions I got enough experience, just stuff you could do if i'm missing time. I am trying to hurry a little. I got so much ideas for my Halo 2 map. Can't wait to start it. It will probably be another of my great maps i've done! If ever you guys have couple of hours to put on doing brushes tell me! Lol. I am making mountains and stuff so the brushes are pretty long and complicated... Oups, I think I've already said too much things about my map... You will see the full things when my map comes out!

ADDITION: I got a question for you guys: I am hesitating between creating a Futurist Map, Like with snipers, tanks and stuff and creating a medieval map, with archers, trebutchets and stuff liike that. Witch one should i take?

Lol your funny, you want me to mix futur and past!!??? So the will be and Archer trying to kill a tank? and a Swordsman trying to kill a sniper..... No sence!

Well, you could mix them, such as Swordsmen, trained with swords, which so happen to be similar to Jedi?

Archer = Plasma Archer... Longbow with arows made of plasma...
Swordman = Jedi... or if to starwarsy... Plasma Saber...
Mage = ... Mage...
Ranger = Plasma Ranger...

Actualy you could use plasma for everything... mabe you could make new words like a Psi Saber...
