when he makes this youll have grandkids. the only thing i dont get is how do you get the passwords that are given to be saved so that they can resume?
Dag...seems crazy... But i have lots of Faith in Red2Blue... His bounds are great and so will his RPG...I know it

GL man!
R2B, when do you plan to have this masterpiece hit battle.net?
He said it wouldn't even be done for a...
long long long long long long long time...

urmom, It wont save(i think) it is just like if you put a code you will get a certant unit with what ever weapons that pass comes with. Well thats atleast the way i think hes making it. I'm not sure tho if its a totaly different thing that involes SAVING the game then i have no idea im lost
I'm pretty sure it's the whole code thing. Unless he has some revolutionary idea.
Well. for the rpg I planned to have two different ways to play...
In the first mode: The "Story Mode" is the mode where the actual rpg is... meaning, story, characters, plot development, character development and all that good stuff but it is only restricted to single player... (because if I used multiplayer... the triggering will become too crazy, and too hasslesome...) and then I was planning on creating a "Team Mode" where everyone can play, in a sorta 'Open RPG' type game for up to 4 players, which you can do whatever you want in almost every area the game can come to.
concerning characters... its gonna be pretty much 4 different types of characters. which contain 3 different classes of spells and abilities...
[The Wariyu], [The Marzun], [The Chion], and [The Rinhya]
The Wariyu (war-ee-you): are the strong warrior type characters, who are considered the "Tank" characters (built to withstand lots of damage) and deal it as well.
The Marzun (marz-oon): are the spellcasters, who cast strong spells and auras. This character has a ranged attack.
The Chion (chai-on): are the supportists, using their battle formations, and supporting attacks to strengthen other characters.
The Rinhya (rinn-yah): are the demonic character who calls upon the darkness to aid in their attacks. This character has a ranged attack.
you can choose your character type, then choose which class of spells you would like to learn... through hard earned experience and playing of course... and you can use these skills to fight each other and what not...
The names of the character types are not set in stone yet... but that is pretty much what they will do in concerns to the character playing types...
it will come out in my next life time...
I will be using jungle... what else?...
LATER ON IN THE ROAD IF I CAN FRIGGIN FINISH THE MAP:
I plan on creating a "Clan" website... which will host 3 separate clan types... also... you must be initiated into the clan... which your password must be changed in order to represent your clan. There will be 3 clans... these clans will "duel" other clans for "points" which are also saved with the password... These "points" cannot be shifted... but its more like a win record... more points means more benefits and bonus stuff... (like bonus spells and such).
but... this is only in my dreams right now.... =(
After reading all of that, I STILL have no friggin clue wtf this is.
To sum it all up:
An MMORPG for starcraft, that will require stranius mind straining, and long amounts of time.
Thats pretty much what I got, and alot of extra usless talk.
_If you persue those dreams they'll become reality; that's if you want it enough.
Wow. Those sound like some crazy dreams... but like i said before your bounds were great and so will your RPG(s). I also belive in dreams coming true. Go for it man and dont let anyone put you down ignore the haters

GL man
To live your dreams you need to work hard...

Basicaly im trying to say to keep working hard and youll eventualy get it done...
My guess is 4-5 years... Patience is the key!
4-5 years? I think you mean more like 45 years.
_Well hopefully for our kids starcraft will be around that long, so it can engulf them like it has done us.
_In any case, if he does a good job with this map I'm positive it will work out. Blizzard created a pretty good editor for starcraft, and establishments such as Camelot Systems (RIP) have given us enhanced versions of it. This is well within the lines of a starcraft map and can in fact be done.
I would seriously like a due date for the year it will come out. You have to at least get that going. Maybe 2006? 2007?
hmm im guessing the end of 2oo5 maybe...cant take THAT long

wait.. so let me get this straight. You are going to have each player be given a password at the end of each game so that they can play it again and keep there same character and upgrade stats??
If this is right won't you at one point run out of passwords.
How will you set the players upgrades back to what they were? Just give them minerals?
I don't think im understanding this.. to me it seems almost impossible to have the player keep his same unit and stats when you play the map again.. maybe im missing something here.

You are missing something, and so am I. AFK, soda.
its just becons that you can step on... Certain ones are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, ect...
He will add in a password so that you step on the beacons or whatever in order and you get your character... All it is is triggers in orders and switches or something like that
MMMMMMMM, soda. The drink of the gods. Anyways, I'm guessing his pw system will be a lot like the one i'm gonna use. You move a unit to a beacon or something, then you'll get a 6-14 digit password, and you then leave the game. You put that password in next game, and you'll get the same exact guy back.
Wait, so say i get a password, that password will have all the information needed for my character? What if people just typed in random numbers...
Chances are, they'll be wrong. But if they magically luck out, which is close to the billions i think, they'll get a char with diff stuff.
Mine is about 1 out of every 20 thousand times, you'll guess it right. However, I have no clue what his is.
1 out of 20,000?
Sounds nice, must have lots of combinations.
Thank God for being able to just base different sections of the password on certain stats rather than having 1 trigger for every combination...
Or are you going to have something that changes what code area(like digits 1-4=weapon upgrade, 5-6=char class, etc) depending on the other parts of the code?
"there is a way of equipment available ONLY IF you create the game using a shift based attack/battle mode, which is shown to be pretty effective in many rpgs..."
Not really.
Out of all the battle systems I've thought of(About 6-10), all but maybe, 1, perhaps 2(and that's supposing you're lazy), would allow weapon equips. Perhaps not armor, unless you use Protoss units, but that's only because armor would be more complex, and most people would settle with upgrades.
How do you get your characters armor and weapon upgrades back? Do you just give them the minerals for them and they upgrade them again?? And when will they receive there password at the end of each game?
Is each map a different quest? and can you play the same one over with your character?
My guess is it'll give you all the exp points, minerals for upgrading, etc, and you just grab the password whenever you want, by telling game to give you.
Password systems are insanely stupid, people are gona be giving out the numbers for higher EXP and Upgrades and Gold and

, just like the "MMORPGS" of WC3.
