PS3 is gonna have graphics equal to Shrek the movie.

ooh! ooh! My gaming system is going to have graphics like they did on the Atari 2600! Or like chicken noodle soup!

Okay, true, another little true factoid: People buy a system for its games. But if you have two identical systems, except one plays DVD's and one doesn't, you're gonna go with the DVD-capable system. Unless you're a diehard fanboy. THe ability to play DVD's was something that led me to xbox (Before I get 8000+ complaints that so can Ps2, when I got xbox I didnt realize that Ps2 COULD play DVD's, and without having to fork over 20$ for a remote adapter. Cheap-ass MS.) along with its built-in HD, meaning not only would I NEVER have to use those friggin fragile and oh-so-easily lost memory cards again, but I could also transfer all of my CD's onto it, eliminating CD-read lag.

That brings me to a question: I have I think 20 CD's on my xbox. IN my memory management, it says I still have 50k+ blocks free, yet each CD takes up about 11k blocks. Is it not measuring right? Or do I really still have that much room free?

Heres something the xbox has over no system: Crappy Technical Support. I recently had the "Cant recognize disc" problem (do a google search to find out what I mean) I called tech support, and theyre answer was this:
Either A, The disk is damaged (its a brand new game...NOT damaged.)
B, I have a corrupted file on my xbox, and I should erase all my saved data (Yes....I did this...of course, it didnt help at ALL)
C, I have damaged my xbox and should send it to a store in TN (where I happen to live) along with 99$ to have it fixed.

I wasn't exactly eager to fork over another 100$ to get the damn thing fixed, so I went online and did a little research. Apparently, this problem occurs with more than half of xbox's. When MS designed it, they used some certain kind of Phillips DVD drive. The problem with the drive is the Pot (Potentiometer, serves as a variable resistor) on the laser is set too high, meaning it has a very weak laser. Over time, it will eventually stop reading CD's altogether, and is rendered useless. I also found instructions to fix this, which involved dismantling my xbox, then my xbox DVD drive, finding a screw similiar to the ones they use in eyeglasses, scraping (yes, SCRAPING) a layer of resin off it with a knife, and turning it counterclockwise half a turn to decrease the resistance.
This, of course, is a very risky procedure, and the slightest shock/slip means I have a dead Box. However, I figure theres no way in hell I'm spending ANOTHER 100$ on it, so I go for it. After 30 minutes, I finish up, reassemble, and test...and holy hell, it works fine. It actually reads CD-R's and CD-RW's now. The downside? The drive will only last about 94% as long as it would have before. I say it's worth it.

Technical support can kiss my butt.

Sony is the best company so far and it has better games, Xbox is the best system so far but they have no series, and Gamecube is... sturdy?

oh man, i saw the preview for Final Fantasy 12, and it looks awesome....

PS2 would've been the greatest if it came out later...

I had mine 2 days after launch somewhere in November 2001. Ancient is too vague of a statement when you ask me when I bought mine.

Each system has a different type of controller. The gamecube joystick is best since it has rubber circles that give it the best grip, and has an octagon shape so you know exactly where all the directions is compared to guessing with the Xbox or PS2. The PS2 has the best d-pad because it's not too small like the gamecube nor is it a pancake like the xboxes. The xbox has the best cord because the cord disconnects in the middle when your friend timmy trips on it so your Xbox or controller doesn't get mangled.

NO! PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE CONTROLLERS! Ive went over this on my topic. WHAT SYSTEM YOUR USED TO USING IS THE CONTROLLER YOU LIKE BETTER. All ps2 users dont like the Xbox controller. All Xboxers dont like the ps2 controllers. Its the shape our hands are used to. There is no better controller. The only bad controller is Super Nintendo.

If a game is released for more than 1 console, controller design could help a person decide which version they want.

Actually, the super nintendo had the best controller design...period. happy.gif

Personnaly, I have played on all 3 systems, and I own a cube and a PS2. here's my review for each one.

X-Box: Even though I only rented it a couple times just tom play( and beat) halo 1 and 2, I had a great time with it, and the hard drive really comes in handy. The graphic effects are awsome, and it has loads of features. However, I hate the controller, the gummy buttons and the controller is too big. Also, the system is too....bulky, and big, and heavy. Plus, it costs $$$ to play online, even though i hear its the best online, which makes up for it. Finally, I don't think there's enough exclusive games for the big X. Halo 1 was too short tongue.gif .

Rating: 8.5 Great system, but requires fixing of many minor flaws and a couple major ones.

PS2: One I own, the money-maker for the money hungry, Sony. Only 2 controller ports? that's a rediculous mistake by Sony, or just another money making stratagy. Really, I just rent the multi-tap, done deal. To me, the graphics are fabulous, but still can't match up to the X-box and the Cube. I hear its online is free, but sucks compared to x-box live, but, at least its free! But, the games, there's so many of them! So many you can love in there its not a joke! Atv, offroad, Star Ocean, FFX, Suikoden, Dynasty warriors, and too much more to name, (so many more, I would have +200 minerals after that lol closedeyes.gif .)
No hard drive, so that means you need memory cards, unless you get FFXI.

Rating: 8.2 However, it is the most popular, because of their huge game library, but I really don't see any other advantage to it.

Gamecube: The other I own. From the look of it, its a pushover. Furthermore if you look at many of the games library......it seems to be the smallest library here! And packed with games like Super Monkey ball 1&2, Animal Crossing, and star fox adventures, and several more, it looks like a 4.8 rating, like a great majority of the people think. Obviously, they have never played a gamecube before...The gamecube is like a timeline of a gamer. It starts with kiddie games for the smaller ones. (star fox advantures, Super Monkey ball, Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race, and the such) Then, it grows, into legend of zelda:Wind waker, F-Zero Gx, SSBM, Final fantasy: CC, Star wars! But then, it takes a look back to its roots: Super Mario Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball 2, Animal Crossing, Donkey Konga, Legend of zelda: master quest and collectors edition, and my personal fav, legend of zelda:four swords, but by upgrading them with moderday equipment, like the game boy adv. connection, the bongos, and new features in the games, like more mini-games. And now, it looks foreward, and marches on. Look at Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 1&2, Star Fox: Assult, the next Legend of zelda, Baten Kaitos, Time Spitters, Killer 7, Geist Advance wars: under fire, and Fire emblem. The little guy has big dreams that he is to soon realise. PLus, its got the wavebird Wireless controller! (play from my bathroom while im on the throne lol). Huge capacity memory cards, the game boy player, and 4 players capabile, and...The HaNdLe!!! rockon.gif . However, its flaws of course, as the nearly no online capability as its biggest (PSO:I&2 tongue.gif ), which really dispoints me, since I could just imagine, SSMB online, or F-Zero Gx (30 racers), Animal crossing, or sports games... Also, I find the games are WAY too short, like star fox, Metroid Prime 1, or Custom Robo (beat that the same night i rented it....Wth...) they take but hours to complete. And like I said earlier, there's not enough games! crazy.gif .

Rating: 9.0 The most underated, overlooked, and unannonced consol (my speling is bad right now, i just typed 3 paragraphes and I can't wait to be done sad.gif ) But with all the over-the-top exclusive games, it should be the best, not the worst. Ps2 and X-box should dual for 2nd spot, not cube and Ps2. happy.gif . The future is bright for Nintendo, there's light at the end of the tunnel!!!

This is based on what I know, what I think, not on what anyone else thinks, because I have my on opinions, and I think they're just fine. I can't change your opinion, so I won't try. I just wanna prove a point. wink.gif . Wow, that was long...workout. happy.gif

All I saw as the advantages was: 4 controller ports, exclusive games, game range...

Ah well to sum it all up, it boils down to this.
All three systems are great. It depends on what you like, nothing else. People can sit here and argue about this or that about them, but who the heck cares. If you like XBox more then Playstation 2 than thats final. And so on with the others.

Yes, but like I said earlier, this is based on what I think, my side of the coin. To me, the gamecube's potential rating is over 10.0. But Nintendo and other companies can't bring it to its full potential. sad.gif The Ps2 and Xbox have room to improve, but not much, the game has the power to improve, as well it should, it makes no sence why the best video game makers are in the back of the pack. Microsoft knows how to make computer software, and Sony makes entertainment systems, where do those two belong in this match? They shouldn't be here, in the video gaming world, trying to take over, getting them selves more money. It not all about the money! Its how you make the game. Nintendo has an uncerpased, and unreachable level of imagination and innovation, but i'f you want to know WHY they can't win, and why can't they win, here it is: People think they are too cool for good old times, they can't be seen playing kiddier games, funner games, they need to play only the Halo, only the Doom 3, only the underground, only "playboy: the mansion", only that, they can't play Star fox: Assult, they can't play Mario Tennis, they can't play Mario games, they can't play super monkey ball, they can't play even play zelda, because they think its too geekish and the such. Its not, only people who have not lost their imagination would play nintendo, only those who can except the past and cope with the future, those who can see, with eyes unclouded by hatred and fear would play those games. That's what a video game is meant to be, for all the great gams to be played, no "underrated" games, that's how it should be. Nintendo is highly underrated.

Btw, im not trying to suggest every to switch to Nintendo, it, adapt to it, by all means don't abandon Ps and X-box, because they're there already, but for god sake, give the inventors a chance. They deserve it, for all they have done for the gaming world, people simply shove the aside. Battle is fun, but a simple game is just as good.

P.s. And I still think gamecube is better tongue.gif , just people are blind.

No amount of mediocrity on Nintendo's part (and though the Nintendo GameCube certainly has not lived up to its true potential [especially since the online play {for the one or two games that support it} is free], it is most definitely not a mediocre product) will overshadow what they've done in the past.

They thoroughly outstripped Atari, scoring the first fully 8-bit game console, in 1984 (Japan) or 1985 (North America). Although Sega beat them to 16-bit, releasing the Genesis in 1989, Nintendo beat them power-wise (the Super Nintendo had 3D support and greater processing power).

The Virtual Boy was the very first fully 3D system, despite its failure to sell.

Sega and Sony beat them to the punch with the Saturn and PlayStation, but once again the Nintendo 64 was a superior product.

The rest is recent history.

ok, here i go: the only reason why ppl would get gc is cuz theyre loyal to nintendo..n64 rocks so much. ps2 is my least favorite..cept for it has the final fantasies, but other than that it just has a bunch of not-so-good games...xbox has the best hardware, and it looks promising, i have an xbox..ppl would say that all it has is halo...which is true ( smile.gif ) but im sure it can get some really good games...

The only reason I got an xBox was for halo. Hell, its a great system. The controllers are comfortable (if you dont get the clunky MadCatz controllers), graphics are awesome, and the games are cool.

I dont have much money to buy games, so I cant really go into what games for what system are better, but I do have all three major systems.

I had my gamecube first (of the three). It came with Mario Sunshine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hell, my mom loves it too (She's been a 3D RPG fan since Mario 64). Then we got Zelda: The WindWaker. Another great game. We got some other games such as SF: Adventures, Viewtiful Joe (It's weird saying that without the SS, my friends old SN), and Mario Kart. I enjoyed all of them but SF: Adventures, mainly because it was basically a copy of Zelda. People say that these games (Zelda: WW, VJ, and Mario Sunshine) are kid games. But you put any kid in front of it and see how far they get. These are not kiddy games.

Dude how can Zelda be a kiddy game?!?! Link's my favorite video game character! I'm tryin to save up money for a gamecube, but since Revolution is comin out, i might get that... Zelda online... drool.gif

I just got PS2 cuz:
1. I think Gamecube and Xbox was either sold out, or I didn't see it and I was in a hurry...
2. PS2 had more game selection (didn't see halo back when I got it...)
3. PS2 had continuations of series that I liked...
4. I liked Anime (Japanese Cartoons) back then and PS2 had lots of Anime Games...
5. It was the only backwards compatible game (PS1 was breaking down and I needed to play my FF8...)
