I would know how I could help. But SF is a third party program, and it will take a while to get it installed on any camp computers.

Test map 01 - Unit HP detection and unit HP setting.
Delete the last trigger to disable the HP setting.
[attachmentid=12042]

Test map 02 - Marines with shields enabled.
You can change the shield amount by changing the unit properties.

This could be big. Super-big. Ultra big. You wouldn't even need an Automodder, you could mod via triggers.

You dont know how right you are...

I could view them in X-tra editor but not in starforge

On X-tra editor the marine shield there was only 1 trigger...

Ya thats because xtra converted the trigger to something it could understand.
I actually just saved the map as the xtra trigger and the marine stil had shields (it said 0/0 but it had the icon and everything). I guess its just because xtra doesn't have a shield slot for marines. But thats really interesting. Is it really just setting a death of an extended unit to 1 for player three to make marines have shields? (i doubt it).

Addition:
I also looked at the trigger and the blank where the unit should have been. I selected it to change the unit and the "Any Unit" option is uncheckable. you cant select the unit to be "any unit".
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-07-25 at 16:50:38
It is. You can set deaths for extended units. I'm pretty sure Starforge reads it. It's just the unit ID no editor can read. No triggers were removed or anything when you opened the maps.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by l)ark_13 on 2005-07-25 at 16:53:48
So did you use a hex editor? Because there is a trigger in starforge, but you just cant open it without starforge crashing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-07-25 at 16:58:55
I used a hex editor until heimdal showed me how to be able to put in numbers for the unit.

Here's the Starforge trigger definitions. Backup the files in your Starforge\Data\ folder and replace the actions and conditions files with these: [attachmentid=12051]

Starforge never crashed for me...

And good luck.
Can we average users help you in any way?

LMAO! -29788? So, could I just input random triggs now and see what happens? I unno about that, but Starforge doesn't crash anymore.

I would also like to help in away way I can. this is one, if not thee, most important discoveries in SC! You could litterally mod SC with triggers, except for maybe the unit graphics.

Well it's not much help if you don't know how to use a memory searcher...
Legacy might make a program to generate the triggers needed for this stuff.
I'm still making a list...

That is so utterly insanely awesome DK, you're really a genius, this is some truely revolutionary stuff. Keep up the insanely good work!!
Addition: Tell me where to get one, and I WILL learn how to use a memory searcher!

I don't really understand why this happens, But what other things can you do, Could you make marines shoot like Missles or something?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by l)ark_13 on 2005-07-25 at 17:43:03
You should be able to change the units weapon sprite. I mean, you can change the marines shields, so probably. I just dont think you could import your own graphics. (you can only edit starcraft files)

Wow this would be great, You could make weapon changes (Like in a RPG or something) without even having to change the unit.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-07-25 at 19:29:59
Yes, it's totally possible to change which graphics the unit uses and which weapons it uses. I want to look into many other things, right now I think I'll write down the #of pauses left thing, then look at things like map size.

Marines with shields!

Play this on battle net and watch moderatly exsperanced map makers go gaga.
And n00bs going all like OMG DK IS A H4X0R!1!!one11!!

1. How'd you find this out?
2. Were you really born 15 March 1989?! blink.gif (obviously age doesn't really say much about anything but still)

3. ... will you be my school's tech teacher instead?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-07-25 at 21:48:41
1. With a memory editor, Arsenal III, Starforge, Starcraft, and advanced knowledge about Starcraft.

2. Yes, why?

3. No.

Damn. If that's true, that could indeed be significant.

I just wonder, before I have a look, if that applies to one or all units of that type.

I had a feeling something like this was possible, but it definitely deserves extensive research. It might turn out to by highly buggy, or produce other unexpected results.

We should get a team together for this.

Maybe this could be a project for the Staredit Mapping Team?
