I always turn off my computer when it is time for me to go to bed. I am like the only person in my area that does; most of my friends have their computers on for like 9 straight days.

That isn't the point.  Sure, sometimes things will black out.  But electricity is renewable

So therefor, we will never run out of any.  All we would have to do is build a new and improved power plant.

Uhhh.. Never run out of any? Most of the electricity and mostly in the United States are created with the help of Oil. We have reached the oil peak now..And in less than half 40 years , the oil will be deplete. Whatever the case, the prices will go higher and higher during these years. This means factories will be shut down because oil will become too pricey etc.

I know there is Hydro electricity too, but remember I said "Most".

The only way if NA dose go into complete black out is the day The Rock is turned back into a prision lol

Really, if it was even possible that means that EVERY Nuclear, solar, hydro, oil, coal, wind, geothermal power plant goes over their capacity and also the back up ones too as well as the neighboring country's as well. If it dose happen, wtf is Bush doing?

Ice, not sure if you've noticed yet, but once people start blaming Bush for everything in this world, including things that aren't his fault, it spreads and everyone starts to do it.

Again with the getting off the topic....

Oil is in very, very, very large quantities. Where do you get your bull :poo:?

ON TOPIC

I guess only the big big cities have black outs. I only have blackouts when there is a really, really ominous storm.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-07-22 at 13:19:11
I used to have blackouts once every few weeks, but then they repaired some faulty electrical line right near my house and I haven't had a blackout in over a year. Personally I think that nuclear is much better than oil right now, but it's very hard to clean up, and the spent fuel rods have a half life of like 700 million years (ala History Channel). However, nuclear energy only has like a 3% efficiency rating or something, and hydrogen-fueled energy has a much higher efficiency rating. Besides, 90% of matter is hydrogen, and it takes very little energy to obtain hydrogen fuel and then do whatever process to create electricity. We could essentially have hydrogen reactors running themselves, eternally recycling the water. It's the rave of the future. In fact, I saw a GM commercial talking about Hydrogen cars coming out very soon. It made me excited. Hydrogen is cheap, efficient, and perfectly clean. Energy costs will fall by a great amount, and the only product of this will be water, which can then be split apart to be reused. I think that we'll finally see global powering.

Remember all the pictures of smog around large cities, especially in China and Japan? They'll clean up with Hydrogen fuel. The environment will be stupidly clean. We'll have no use for oil. At all. There are a thousand different lubricants and a thousand different ways to get plastics and stuff. Oil was only used because it was already being drilled in large amounts to fuel the world. Goodbye you crude tree killing fuel.

Well... Except for that one hot week on the beach... (Air Conditioning!)

Felagund, even though hydrogen is the most abudadent element, you need PURE HYDROGEN in order to run things. In order to get pure hydrogen, you have to extract it from existing things. This is a hectic process, in which turn CREATES MORE POLLUTION which is equal to if not more, so in the end, you're doing the same thing as if you were using an alternative fossil fuel. So to supposely stop global warming with hydrogen, you have to create more. Woot.

Oh your talking about the millions of sites Google has. Oh, would you find me a more Profession search engine? I would be pleased to use it. It really doesn't take a brainer that the oil production will be gone in less than 40 years.

By the way, In a matter of seconds, I found quite alot of sites:

http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil
http://www.energybulletin.net/primer.php
http://www.copad.org/
http://camwest.pps.com.au/projects/oil.html
http://www.gaianxaos.com/SpecialReports_files/oilcurve.htm
http://nuclearfree.lynx.co.nz/peakoil.htm
http://www.globalpublicmedia.com/content/peak_oil
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0508-24.htm

By the way, Google is *The* most popular search engine now and has Millions and millions of sites registered on it. Its ok though, I see you choose not to believe even if you have A ton of sites that say otherwise. Whatever the search engine, you will find this information. You will start to see prices for the oil start going up. Like I said, its no brainer that We've reached the oil peak.

Once again, I will not try to convince you again, If you just simply do not wish to see the truth, so be it.

And Parthx who keeps saying I would be talking as if oil was like blood etc..

That is extremely immature and you do not understand the magnitude of this. This will create an economical crash. Its extremely important for people to be aware so they can prepare.

Um... How old are you?

And by the time "Oil depletes" we will have an alternate source of energy and fuel >.<

When something bad is about to happen, people ban together and research the hell out of things...

And don't call me immature when you don't even know how old I am and just cause I don't agree with you. Ignorante po........ disgust.gif

Uhh sorry, I wasn't clear enough, I was talking to Parthx when i said the "Immature" part.

Actually I agree with you on the part that we will have an alternate source. The problem is, not enough people believe that oil will deplete soon. Not enough people will have changed to an alternate source of power. Thats why I'm trying to raise awareness.

And really, the age doesn't player a major part in this. I wouldn't care if you are 40, but if you act immaturaly, your imature. I'm not pointing you out by the way.
