No, I'm afraid I do not have a CD player....

I don't judge games by graphics neccessarily but good graphics make the game more realistic, and I like games that are realistic. Also, I want to play games that I've seen on the Playstation 2... like GTA and stuff... have you ever seen a Grand Theft Auto game for a Nintendo sytem?

Yes. I have.

I just read about GTA on the PSP and I'm disappointed. Apparently, it's called Libery City Stories, meaning it takes place in the SAME world as GTA3, only 3 years before GTA3.

Unlike GTA:SA, you won't have character stats, no swimming or minigames. Basically, it's a lowgrade version of GTA:SA, which means, if I had a PSP, I wouldn't get this game anyway. GTA:SA is much better in every regard, whether it's content, graphics, or innovation.

I'm sorry if I have to compare it to the PS2, but it is basically a port out of GTA3, and it doesn't do anything new, to make itself different from the PS2's GTA:SA. Since both versions cost $50, I'd say the smarter thing is to go with San Andreas.

Of course if GTA:LCS had online play...

Thats the thing, you can't compare the two. One is on a console and one is on a handheld. They are two different types of systems. It's just as bad as comparing the GTA for GBA to GTA:LC.

I dont care how much more powerful the PSP is over the GBA the point is that the PSP isn't going to be as powerful as the PS2. It's barely better than the PS1.

Both suck.

Prove it.

I think the PSP is better. It has a wide variety of functions and capabilities. It has better graphics and you can practically make your own applications to run on it.

I dislike the DS's touch screen and game-only functionality, but I like how classic Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, and Gameboy Advance games can be played on it.

I'd go for the DS, based on the comparision of the gameboy Advance and the PS2 as a handheld, and in the end, i'd much rather play my gameboy than anything else. Here's the reasons why:

1. The simplisity of the games, not too many buttons, simple games. but do those games ever have depth! Im talking about final fantasy tactics advance, or fire emblem, Golden sun 1&2, and the list can go on and on.

2. The PS2/PSP has one annoying feature that I hate, that takes the game to a lower level. the "mmmmm!" sound at the start of a game, and suddenly, Playstaion2 pops up. It just drains the energy. It's just annoying. The gameboy is more of an uplifhting (i'f your mentaly sane) noice, of a bell. happy.gif

3. I'd rather play with something that I can trust that wont break than something that has been know to wear down quickly. The R and L buttons are busted on my PS2 controller, its nuts! It breaks, I can take out the R1! But not a problem with the game boy, I dropeed that many times, a few on hardwood, a couple on kitchen flooring, twice on pavement, and dozens of dozens of times on the carpet. All I'm saying, I can trust these guys, Sony, well, I dunno.... ermm.gif

4. Face it, all Sony truly wants is the money. They simply said: "Well, look at Nintendo, their making lots of money with their handhelds, let's make some too!" There the unoriginal PSP was born. Im getting the originativity part in a minute or two. At least Nintendo, if all they're trying to make is money, then they're doing it the right way. Putting they're heart into it.

5. What classics does Sony have? what games will we truly remember and tell our children and grand-children and say: "I remember back in my day, we played Pac-man and the arcade, day and night, it was the hotest game till that fighting game, mortal kombat." What i'm saying is, whos ganna remember....what there is no games to remember, Please not that my mom works at a movie/games store, so I can rent whatever game I want for a toonie, and I rent the newest, and most publisized games. Sure, they're good, but nothing spectacular.

6. To back up my previous point, Nintendo has had megaman, one of my favorites for a long time, he was(and still is) a hot item. Mario and Link get lots of fan support. So does Metroid Prime! Resident Evil, Wario Ware, Star Fox, and more. What Heroes does Sony have? Dante? Jak? That Atv rider? The unknown in GTA? Spiro? Nothing, Nadda! Nintendo has the heroes. Nintendo has the heart. smile.gif

7. What I really liked about DS was that you are able to interact almost litterally with the game, with the touch screen, voice recongnition, it comes to the gamer was no gaming system ever has. What does PSP does to come to the gamer? Another O on the board for Sony. Looks like Ds is winning the ball game going into the 8th inning. biggrin.gif

8. Price. When it comes down to two great systems, it often comes down to the price. I'd rather pay around 150.00$ for the same things I want as a gamer than the PSP, I'm not looking for an MP3 player on my gaming system, or a movie player, or an internet connection. I look for games. Always have, always will. I could proboly get the same ammount of stuff on the PSP for less money for seperate things such as and MP3 player, a Digital camara and a cell phone.

9. What do you really want? A gaming system with voice recongnition, touch screen, folding system, All the game heroes you can trust, 10-20 hours of battary life, and a company that knows what they are doing, and all for 150$ With a free game? Or how about A regular handheld system, supped up graphics, an Mp3 player, movie player, internet connection, and poor battery life, all for 300$ and with a free movie? You make the choice, but it has a silver linning around it, the DS has the gaming edge. Keep it where it belongs. Nintendo's got game tongue.gif !

Thanks, I needed to let off some steam somehow, over many weak "good" points said about the PSP. Call me a Nintendo dork or whatever, but case closed, in Nintendo I trust.

Cant save properly? Ejects discs randomly? Why haven't I heard of this and why doesn't this happen to me?

Regular gameboy games can't be played on it? They can be played on the Gameboy Advance... I don't know why they can't be played on the DS.

That would make the Gameboy Advance better than the DS in my opinion.

Please no fanboys Jelly. If you are going to help, do so with facts.

AFAIK, psp has no problems saving.

Second, the disk only pops out if you twist it, but which PSP owners do that?

I did to see if Sony fixed that problem. It took a great deal of force to get that disc to pop out. I even had a couple other people try to do it also and only one other person could. So as far as I can tell Sony fixed the problem when it came to the US by re-inforcing it.

The PSP has no problems saving but with some games it does have a problem when you turn the power switch off and come back to the game later (like sleep mode on Nintendo's handhelds only less 'official'). I don't know if the problem is on the developers end or Sony though but I would bet it has something to do with loading from the UMD.

DS is better price-wise, but PSP is better if you have like over 400$ and absolutely nothing to do with it.

You know, the DS doesn't feel comfortable. I just realized this after playing a couple minutes of a good game (Metroid Fusion) and my left thumb was VERY SORE. It could also be that I have big hands...

The DS was a new concept that really fitted its handheld status. It utilizes many different and innovative technologies to create innovative games.

The PSP is a console wannabe fused with a movie, cell phone, music, and movie center, which has limited functionality due to the memory limit, unless you buy a 1gb card.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-08-28 at 05:37:21
Limited functionality? It has more functionality than the DS so then the DS is worse?

Well another fact is that all these cool games are coming out for PSP now ... both Megaman legends I hear (I never got a chance to play either), GTA, a new Final Fantasy 7 based game (Crisis Core), a new Lemmings, a new Worms, a new Ghost in the Shell game. Heh yeah I'm looking forward to the future lineup.

If I had the DS I would be looking forward to Metroid, Castlevania, and ... Nanostray. Thats it.

He means you can't use the features to the full potential due to the small space of the included 32mb memory stick.

I'm looking forward to: Advance Wars DS, Kirby Canvas Curse, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles DS, Castlevania DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, Age of Empires DS, Mario Kart DS, and maybe Animal Crossing DS.

Quite a selection for me.
