I wouldn't push it. Who am I to decide if everyone should live or die? Life has some good and bad stuff to offer, you just gotta find the good stuff.

No, i would not press the button. I mean what if he was right, then your bestfriends would be gone, your familys would be gone, your girlfriend(if you have one) Would be gone, and YOUR LIFE would be ended and DONE! Would you really risk it all to see if it worked.

Has anyone ever had daydreams of two people (friends/family/etc) on a wall, and you had to decide who would go, person one, person two, or yourself? It's weird, I had those thoughts a few years ago.. it's like this but everyone dies

I would simply press the button. Whether it killed everyone or simply made the homeless man laugh like a nutcase, it doesnt matter. Everyone dies eventually, one way or another.

Most definently, i'd do something very bad, causing me to be on the news. Then i'd laugh as i pressed the button killing everybody and saving the planet earth from being destroyed by us.

The destroying could quite easily set it off accidentaly, seeing as you don't know how it works.

Personally, I would push it, though I would do so after making sure that it is in the middle of an ocean and I am nowhere near it, so I don't have to worry about it being a small explosive, a poison gas, or some other such thing.
I don't see what's wrong with all humans dieing.

As for why I'd be able to throw away the money to go to the middle of the ocean and have it pressed there, I'm going to be rich in the future. Some old lady told me so.

I'd look the hobo straight in the eyes and ask:
"Would you press it if you were in my shoes?"

If he says yes, then that means it's a trick and he would have pressed it already if it's effects were true.
If he says no, then I can take no sure conclusions.
If he does not respond, it's the same as if he said no.

Two things might happen with me:

1. I would simply laugh.

2. I would be so terrified that I would take the button from the man and attempt to destroy it. Unfortunatly, I like hammers, so when I tried to hit it I'd probably press the button...

lol love the 26 people who voted yes. I would never what if there are germs on the button? What if the homeless guy has some sort of new desiese and laughs at you when you push the button? It's not worth it..

I wouldn't push it but i would wonder for like the rest of my life what would "REALLY" happen if I did push it.......

Its like a blue pill or a red pill either way you get a cocequence but what if the button did not kill everyone but cured everyone. Maybe the guy was crazy and told you it did the wrong thing like a burning fosil fuel is good for the ozone????

I wouldn't. For one thing, I sure as heck don't want to die. For another, I wouldn't want to kill everyone else. If it turns out there is an afterlife, I'd be pretty screwed. If there isn't, well, no sense in becoming nonexistent before it's necessary. I would probably take the button and carefully dismantle it.

By the way, does this make anyone else think of the Tom Lehrer song "We Will All Go Together When We Go"?
