Mac is based on Unix, meaning no holes. On a unix system, you CANNOT get remote access even if you have the root login. You have to be actually on the system to use the root functions. With windows, you can screw with everything remotely. Don't say PROBABLY if you really have no idea what you are talking about.

Oh, and you've never gotten a virus that you KNOW OF.

Lol, You can log in as remote root, you've always been able to. Besides, a virus can be `on' your computer.

And so what is my pc? 1300 above top of the line.

Overpriced.

Actually I still would like to complain about mac mice. I have to tell Steve Jobs to put clickwheels on them instead. Clickwheels are sexy.

And doodle, the only macs I've ever seen in a school are OS7 or earlier. So maybe things are different where you live.

Nah, I've never even seen OS7 (though we have a unused Apple II), 3 years ago my school was using os9, and now they use OSX, but the computers still crash 24/7.

And don't get me wrong, I dislike macs to. But for better reasons.

apple comps cant outperform pcs man. you see 6 grand comps? yeah.
3 gigs of memory, liquid coolin 500 sumtin watt power, 256mb vid ( change it when it rises ) - Intel Dual core, <-- rawk.
( you can get it way cheaper if you order it from the producers )

pretty much IBM based comps owns apple.

Apple has missed a few opportunities, but so have a lot of companies. Apple was responsible for introducing the first user-friendly personal computer, and it has done many things right since then. Why focus on the negative?

I would say they have been "babes in the wood" in the past, commercially, but what they have succeeded at has been truly awesome. When your business fan base spawns multiple MacWorld conferences globally, what sucks?

OK, they may be a bit behind Microsoft in terms of the scoreboard... But then so is everyone else.

He mentioned more than a processor, you do know that, right?

And I've said this like 5 times by now...

You will not have any problems with security on your computer if you have a legitimate virus protection and firewall, and do not do anything extremely stupid.

To bad you're wrong.

Make a trojan that bypasses open ports. And if the virus does in fact bypass it, it will be brand new, meaning your virus protection will not have definitions for it, meaning it will screw your computer up.

Sorry, you lose.

Do you know often does this happen? I do, and the answer is not very often.
This doesn't even happen if you know what you're doing.

Seriously, as long as you're not running java applets from some stupid warez site, or downloading some stupid dangerous file, you should be fine.

Thats because Macs use ATI cards. Who said you cant use them for pcs?

Take a Mac, and take a Windows machine, and put them side by side, and just let them run. I wonder which one will crash first.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-04-19 at 11:46:11
Perhaps after a month of running, the Windows will crash. I don't need to run a computer a month straight, and I don't see why anybody else would, either. And what makes you think the Mac won't crash either?

And can we cut the bullshiz with the "LOL MACS SHOW CRISPER GRAFIX LOL!" that's all based on video cards, and hardware. There is no uniform design of the PC.

Thanks! You just blew your own argument out of the water. You just proved that Mac's are superior in hardware because you agree that it's based on video cards and hardware.

It's also proven the graphics are much better on Macintosh computers. That's why all 3d shiz, Professional Photoshop shiz, AutoCAD, ect... is done on Macintosh computers instead of PCs.

Duh.. No way a Mac with a Radeon 7000 is going to have better graphics than a PC with a Radeon x800, though. I was commenting on your you were like "MACS HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS". Better graphics than what? Not every PC has the same video card.

Feel free to site your sources.

I think he's referring to the fact that PowerPC processors were faster than Intel processors at working with graphical applications. I think it was to do with the floating-point speed.

Eve Online (An MMO game) is run on windows servers. They have to have an hour downtime everynight because they are on windows. Windows is the ONLY operating system that will crash itself.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling this difference is minimal.
Also, you'd expect something like that after paying 500 dollars extra dollars for a Mac. -_-

@Demaris: Oh well, I guess you can't run MMORPG servers on Windows as good as Macs.
I don't think that's going to make a difference. Seriously, how often do you do things like this? Don't tell me it'll crash itself when either, because I've left my computer on for over two weeks straight, and it didn't crash, but eventually, it got a bit slower. (It was a 333mhz to begin with -_-)

Honestly, what the hell makes you think that all Mac did was make an Mp3 player? That's the only thing I hate about Mac. Have you ever used a Mac OS X? The graphics kick your ass(Dont say anything about video cards. We have more colors than you, PERIOD), the features kick your ass, the applications kick your ass, and I [will] kick your ass. Windows has 2 advantages over Macs. They have more games and more random applications, because the majority of asses use windows.

I was asking HIM, you see, not somebody who produces professional music, not somebody who produces professional graphics, somebody who uses the Mac as a home computer.

You can check websites, and do mail, with a computer that costs practically 1000 dollars less than a mac.

And as if posting on a forum is any more productive than playing a video game -_-

What you people fail to realize is that a part of the reason why there are almost no viruses for the Mac is because there aren't as many people using it as Windows. It's the same story with Firefox. People create viruses to target the most people - Windows. With the introduction of Windows Vista, I wonder how things will change Macs vs Windows. We'll have to wait and see.

The truth is, you buy an operating system for what you'll use it for. If you'll play games, buy a Windows. If you are going into graphics development or a related industry, use a Mac. If you are going to host a server, DONT EVER USE WINDOWS, use Unix. I don't really think there's much of an argument here, you use a computer for what you'll use it for.

Part of the reason why Macs are so more expensive is because they don't sell their OS to any other supplier.

I have a question for mac users, what kind of video card does the top of a line Mac come with? Please enlighten me smile.gif

Use Linux, its cooler.
Also, I havent experienced a actual crash of windows in about a year. On the other hand, Firefox crashes every two days or so.

Is a graphics card and PCI/AGP? If so here's mine: ATY,Rage128Pro2.

And Carlsagan43 stop trolling. Macs have a built in internet you can go online with your desktop, but it's easier to use a browser. I use safary and all it does is tap into the computers web browser, and it hardly ever crashes. I'm going to buy VPC and I will run game faster than a normal windows. It's just the truth macs are stronger and more realiable and yes pc you can play more games on but that's what Xboxes and other such things are for.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-04-20 at 11:41:21
So you're paying $1200 dollars for a machine so you can browse the web?
That's called overpriced.

And for the "built in internet", Windows has that too..

So in the end, you're going to buy a $300 dollar console, and a $1300 dollar Mac so you can do what a $700 dollar PC can do. Makes a lot of sense.
