What is that?

Also, I think you can do a lot more. A well thought-out PM explaining what they're doing wrong and citing some posts and what you think is wrong with them can go much further than branding them with the idiot label. If you go about it in the right way (nice fatherly, big brotherly, maybe), they might even react positively.

It would work if they didn't think that anything/everything said to them is a flame *CoughKrazyCough*

Most members here are immature and think that you're flaming them, when you just try to help them (From my observation. Not first-hand experience) out.

How would your plan work when their mind-set is: "OH EM GEE! HEE IS FLAMING ME BECAUSE HE IS GEEVING ME CRITIQUE!"??

It hardly works like that. Maybe you can try not calling them a twit, or whatever? smile.gif

Okay, here would be what I say.

Hey, I've seen you posting around here, and I know you're new, so I just want to give you some tips on posting, so you don't get banned or warned. Anyway, you should try to use correct grammar. It helps a lot, and you're not really taken seriously without it.

And so on =\

Kellimus, you call people twist, pathetic, tell them to stfu & leave & you want respect to yourself ? No offence, but I think that you don't accept other points of view. I will rephrase you: "everything is perception". So if everything is perception, different people can understand the same thing differently.

You can explain your opinion & proove somebody wrong in A MANNER WAY.

I agree with Golden-Fist that nobody will become better just becawse someone told "Hey, let's all be nice to eachother!". People need strict controll, like in the classroom - don't controll your students & they will make it hell.

my ideas are the following:

-make less warn levels
-make a list of people that should be controlled more than others
-if a person is flaming/spamming/something else, warn him/her IN THE TOPIC, so people will know, how should they not act
-to avoid posts like "it was not a flame, [mod's name]", increase warn level if the warned peorson will reply to the warn post in the topic. PM instead.
-mods/admins should read all the posts
-to make the all this real, make a fiew more peopel admins (i understand that you are not administrating robots)
-maybe make a topic in every forum SD, LD, N about latest news of warning people & FOR WHAT.

Ok, I may have no idea about how SEN functions, so my ideas can be totally stupid.

My general idea: be stricter & do it infront of the people.

Some may say that SEN will turn into something closer to military dictatorship, but I think you should try. Besides, a good member has nothing to be afraid of.

This thread is for discussing how to fix SeN, not to point out peoples problems.

Less warn log would blow.
They already have it. It's called the Staff Forum. I'm probibly #1 on their list smile.gif
No. That would cause problems because then whiners would complain in the thread; Thus, causing spam.
Most people do that. At least I do.
Impossible. HIGHLY IMPOSSIBLE. Most the authority here are 18+ (Except Ez, Reve and DTBK) and have lives. It's impossible.
Admin? Hell no. That means they have the ability to ban people. They wouldn't do that. Moderators possibly. But no one (Except Camo IMO) meet s the criteria.
It's called announcements. IsolatedPurity already did one when he came back and dropped the boot on everyone.

At least you're trying Abstract Thinking. Most members here don't do that.

Wait... I think I mixed up the meaning of an ADMIN & a MODERATOR

ADMIN just keeps the forums "clean", right ?

MODERATOR does programming + ADMINISTRATION functions, right ?

...I should get out of my cave & shave my beerd... pinch.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kellodood on 2006-05-10 at 13:35:44
Admin is short for Administrator. Administrator is one who Administrates something. Is in charge.

Moderators moderate. Watch over things.

Get it yet? The Admin is the boss, the moderators are their slaves.

Then why is it that most of them [moderators] slack off?  I can give you a perfect example: Cheeze.

Bah on to topic. First we have the part where even if we were to change it won't happen overnight. In all likelyhood it'll probably never happen. Face it we're humans and nobody's perfect.

You can't get banned for being an idiot and making 500 rip offs of SEN Survivior. As long as they're "ON TOPIC".

That's not very hard to get past I go to GameWinners.com and they do this:
QUOTE
Warned for SPAMing

That's great that your dog got dyed red but no one really cares. Do not reply to this post

And if they do reply they got another warn because they obviously don't understand what rules are.

Is that the kind of iron fist we should be putting up?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Golden-Fist on 2006-05-10 at 19:22:15
That Iron fist you speak of is warning people publicly and telling them not to reply to it. Tell me how that's Iron Fist like? Maybe the little sentance I added in was a bit harsh but you could subtitute it with:
"Please refrain from posting off topic in the future kind sir"
But it's not my website.

95% of the problems on this forum are created by newer members. The other 5% are caused mainly by mistakes.

I'd put it entirely the opposite way. A new member's warn log is at most 20%~40%, while many older members have 80% with a very large warn log filled with punishments, Verbal Warns, notes, warns, suspensions and more.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2006-05-10 at 20:41:42
With that, DarkArchon, I'm guessing Devilesk spamming OSMAP links was a mistake. Newer members wouldn't that rediculously bad. It's the older members who don't accept them.
