If I were to count the recent members of SEN--that is, not including the staff members/admins they are begging for change from--who have complained about the necessity for change in moderation policy and a swift turnaround in attitudes, we could easily have a healthy-running message board.
That being said, why do all these members, on an individual level, push so hard to promote change in other members by means of stricter moderation or less restriction (and therefore seemingly harassing the moderators and admins), when they all seem to be in agreement with one another?
If all these members want change, would it be too much to ask to, well, change? Why force the staff into some system of moderation unnecessarily, when so many of these members, who others consider violators, could simply save time, effort, etc., and change themselves?
I am calling for a drastic upheaval of the current mindset of the memberbase, immediately. If the members are who the members are complaining about, why don't the members themselves simply change?
The onus falls on us, members. Not the staffers. They don't decide how the atmosphere and condition of this board become. We do.
----
I know that it seems that I am the one harrassing and I have seen it happen by myself, but if we really want change. We must do it, not the staff enforcing.
That was sort of hard to read
But I guess I sort of agree :\
Finally, some responsibility. Let the revolution begin!
Faith in humanity +1
Look for much better defined and concrete policy in v5, though. That's what I call teamwork.
Viva la revolution!1!11 Let's get to work on this.

Thank you Moose, I'm glad you seem to approve.

I agree. The members here have to straighten there act. If you know it is against the rules, don't waste your time, the members time and the staffers time to ban you.
K THNX!

We're not heavenly at all, as that be like us being Nazi's.
You know the real reason why Kellimus & I "flame?" it's because we're tired of people moaning about change when they don't do anything about it, I know it seems hypocritical, but so far, no change has happened.
So I want to enforce the part where people will come in and say "Then why aren't you doing anything about it?", but you know what?
You have to help in the process, no one member can change the whole message board atmosphere.
I also agree on that, I always see people yelling about how things should change in the world, when them thereselves are just sitting there acting like there effecting something when flaming at others.
Finally, if you want something done, you do it.

So you want others to change before you do it?
You're leaders, you're do it first

I just started it, no I don't need others before me, I need others
with me.
I think that you should get one free promotion. Let's say you were a regular, you could use that to get to elite, but you can't use it again. Maybe you need to be here for more than a year, I don't know.

Mr.Camo = Member ID 349.
He used to be a moderator. Why not give him another chance? Maybe he is the diamond in the rough(sp?)???
Well I'm willing to stop doing wrong stuff, and it looks like you have a few people who agree with you and are willing to change.
And meh, I'm at 80% warns so might as well do this anyway.
true.dat at what Camo said.
The Staff and Admins have tried all that is seemingly logically possible to improve the state of our Forums. But there is a limit that most of us think has been achieved. We can put down rules and tell you what you can and can't do, but we can't tell you how to write your own post. It is up to the members themselves to promote a better or worse forum.
I'm down with this, not as a Staff member, but as a 2 year old member that has been trying to promote better posts since day 1.
It's all very true - essentially you need to have good members to have a good site. Moderators can only do so much.
atleast members with manners.
And the best step in which to start doing things is using proper spelling and punctuation. I'm not asking for 100% error free gramatical freaks, but at least using commas, sentences, capitalization and not trying to abreviate everything into Internet speak is a good start.
I can't count the amount of times I've skipped a post because of these.
Moderators are necessary to start the revolution. The members who as of right now not 'up-to-standards' won't exactly strive to change themselves, would they? We just need moderation changes to start the revolution; the members will continue it from there.
I agree about the grammar. I remember coming here and using battle net slang for a while (until Chuos said that it makes me look stupid). It was still much more readable then the posts of a considerable amount of members.
We also need moderators to ban the spammers and such. Members can't do that, and do you really think those who are the spammers and such would try to fix themselves?
Finally. Someone who isn't scared to say that the moderators need to do their job.
Thank you!
I agree with Camo. This is exactly what I've wanted since I have "begun whining about change", he just said it better than I did.
I agree with what's been said so far. The members need to change, and the moderation team needs to start handing out stricter punishments to... encourage... that change.
Yes, I think that the punishment should be more strict.
Threads like these have been attempted, but at least this one takes thought. At least this one isn't acting all rebelious
.
Nice word Camo.

One person can do nothing against an army. I want people to stop acting like idiots and posting stupid crap, there's not a way in hell I can stop them though. I don't have locking ablities or anything, and if I attempt to tell people that the crap there posting is stupid I get warned. How do you suggest I "change" that will make people say "HMM MAYBE I SHOULD STOP BEING AN IDIOT". (That's not directed towards anyone)

I think if they said that we could only make posts that were about Tom Cruies, I think the atmosphere would change pretty damn quick. They do decide the atomsphere to some extent, they're not 100% responsible but they have a bigger part then anyone else on the fourm.

Duh he approves your basically saying that the mods don't have to do anything, why would he object to that?
And plus juding by the recent ideas being put into SEN that are never accepted chances are this thread will go on for 5 pages with a bunch of people saying: YEAH ALRIGHT!!
And nothing will happen. No one will change we just had our 5 minutes of agreement now let's go back to our lives.

Golden-Fist, I
do object to that. Damn straight moderators need to do their job. Why else would we have moderators? There wouldn't be any purpose to hiring moderators if they didn't have jobs to do.

I disagree completely. The atmosphere wouldn't change very much at first. It would LOOK like it were changing, but that's only because every post not about Tom Cruise would be deleted.

First off, while yes, no change
may happen, that's very cynical. Even at the worst, something like this may not help, but it can't hurt.
