Will the mechanic general (or whatever the name is) have an ability to temporarily stop an opponents machine from working (pretty much a lockdown smile.gif ) Could a Biotech general create a unit which serves as a living blockade? (sorta like a creep colony or large neutral unit.. not a sunken..) Hmm.. does morale change with just the factor of time? You know.. people can get plain bored out in the middle of nowhere waiting 1/2 hour to ambush someone. Are there generals that are better at increasing morale for their troops than others?

So many questions.. so many ideas..

Is there only 1 general per team? Have you created any way for players to win against a stronger army? (could morale affect it? Is there many levels of terrain? Could a strong army just do a frontal assault against a base and win?)

I was thinking about a large Building represent A Cover spy agency!
They bring you some information, then you can carrie such new building, abilities, Hero, vision, report on their advancement! You can upgrade the agency!

Still think you should add it where you get better soldiers with high morale and get weaker soldiers with low morale. Its a good feature and adds more realism to it. You will be short on units maybe to do this but its a great thing that could be really good.

There are 2 Generals per Faction...beside the 3rd one it's a 4 player game.

I haven't considered effects based on the number of CP's your faction has... great idea, and even better because the conditions are simple to detect. You're pretty good at this, Fu Leng! Definitely a usable idea.

Only way to do this in this situation is HP percentages, which are kind of a bad option. How about a Psionics superweapon that fries the minds of lots of organic units and makes them capturable? That sounds more like a General ability though.. perhaps a constant ability for the Psi general that converts or neutralizes a nearby unit every few seconds, or a chunk of men, hmm.

They're supposedly guerilla warfare type people, so their weaponry is similar but less in number.. All 3 sides (4 including civilian population) tend to draw upon the non-hero Terran unit set, the zergling (attack dog), and sometimes the Protoss non-hero set (particularly strong units, common at high levels). This means that I'm kinda at a loss of options for "unique" units for them.. unless I include mutant units as enemies around the map.. I'm really open as to who the enemies are in this map, because I don't have many in yet.

Distance limiting, good, but unnecessary work because most the base weapons are in the form of air drops, which use aircraft and can be shot down after long distance flight.

The two factions are equal. The Generals are what determine uniqueness.

So some sort of Mech General EMP? Awesome! I'll note it. Living blockade, excellent excellent idea but there's a catch.. There's preplaced "Armored Blockades" (Machine Shops), placed semioverlapping terrain to actually block movement, but no general has the ability to create them because created blockades don't overlap any terrain borders, making spaces for units to get around. Morale changing with time is a double edged sword because players don't tend to like the "countdown to death" idea in maps that much. And I haven't planned on making certain generals better with morale than others but it's a possibility.

I'll be posting two more General's abilities lists for my next post, so keep the ideas flowing! Currently noted and considering:

- Terrain height modifier for Sniper Rifle firing distance.
- Radar or Scanner item, detects all incoming and nearby unallied units
- A handful of missions and rewards
- Nuke Beacon item
- Weather?
- Mech General EMP

Ok I said I would post abilities in my next post but I need to respond to that one quickly. I am carefully creating and selecting ideas out of a huge pool, and my eye is constantly on SC's limits. I check the number of available strings all the time, I know how many locations I have left, etc etc. Don't worry, I've been doing this for a long time. wink.gif

lol I almost always think of at least something to here it is...

1-For items how about a detonation pack? like you drop it then after a couple seconds it explodes.

2-Since I keep thinking of things about where the stuff is carried by bombers and thing but I keep saying stuff that reach across the field here is something. You can make 5 or 6 or less or more critical places. Later when you advance in rank you can pay to start an attack. They can only attack the key locations if there are no other key location before it or if the enemy owns it. ex:You order an attack to the HQ but the Armory or w/e blocks your way so it cancels. lol this must work IT MUST!!!!!!! otherwise I just thought of another thing totally irrevelant. Of course an invasoin or attack like this would cost alot of money and high rank.

3-For Covert Ops abilities how bout you make it like they can infiltrate the enemy base to destroy some minor places (not places like the HQ, more like maybe a CP in the middle of the map). Like they can create maybe a distraction or give it to another player so the comps don't attack him while he goes into the base, then you give the unit back and you can make him attack the things you need to.

4-For Pyro you can make it like he spins around spewing fire around him. The range depends like what rank he is.

5-For the Psi he can like make 1 unit go to your side and the effect could be better with more ranks. I got this idea from the game psi ops..I forget the full name but I know i'ts called Psi Ops. He can like take control of one unit then you put ally only once to the enemy that way they don't know your MC'ed but if you attack they will start to attack you automatically since it's only one trigger that makes them ally instead of preserve. Like if you attack someone anyone near the unit you attacked or you will start to attack the MC'ed unit. Tell me if you can't really understand this perfectly. Cus it's kind of hard to explain.

6-For bombardment maybe he can like drop bombs and things on top of units. Then he could change what kind of bombs he drops like a reg bomb, napalm, or scatter.

But seriously is the Observer targeter for the Sniper suppose to be Reticle, Reticule, or Reciticule?

expanding on what leng wrote... how about a detonation pack that you get to trigger manually.. or multiple ones of them so you can create a line and lure the enemy into a trap!

Mpstark's Suggestions and Questions

1. How is morale going to work? I've seen it in other maps, but it always falls flat.

2. A.I. in Starcraft is always a little sketchy. How are you going to get around all of the weird A.I. things implanted in SC?

3. Sniper general sounds a little overpowered. He can wipe out BOTH infantry and mechanical?

4. Where's the storyline? What caused this war anyways?

5. Are the General's abilities going to be timered? Is there going to be something like mana?

6. Random events, like rioting from the mall, could be cool. Maybe the third faction could provide random attacks with suicide bombers and snipers.

7. Are you going to use a dropship spell system? I would like that!

8. Seeing how this is going to be a mostly private map, why not put music in there?

9. While we are on sounds, are you going to have any?

10. Mothership sounds really cool. Ever played Space Pirate Wars? I think it should be like that.

11. One more thing, you should have fun with this. Don't give up and hurry up with that beta! biggrin.gif We are waiting for what could be the best map of all time.

Here is my suggestions for each of the generals.

Sniper-
Like I said before, he seems a little overpowered. I think that maybe he should have an ability that makes him see farther, like binoclurs.

Bio-Tech-
This guy sounds fun! It would be cool for this guy to have some of the queen's abilities, like insnare and spawn broodling. Maybe one of this guys abilities could have a high level ability that sprays the ground with toxin and kills all the infantry that go into the area for a time. He could also have a clone ability that clones a non-mechanical unit.

Mech-
Nothing like a little Battletech! This guy should definitly be able to shoot missles and such. Maybe he could have abilities that 'upgraded' his mech, like an auto-repair thing, or a auto-defence thing. Self-destruct would be an interesting thing to have on this dude, killing/damaging all buildings and units near him.

Infantry-
When I think of this General, I think of an army sergent. Whipping nearby infantry into shape and massing the front line. This guy could have a rally ability were all units go to him and are healed or something. This guy will by the newb's favorate so watch out!

Technology-
Maybe this guy can plant bombs and hack vehicals. A high level ability could be to disable a building for awile. Cash Hack comes to mind. Maybe mechanical units are helped by him? Disable bombs and mines?

Nuclear-
BOOM! This guy could nuke the heck out of people. But... thats about it. Can't think of anything else.

Black Ops-
Sneaking around and killing infantry, this guy will be the dread of the other generals. He could have ablities that kills nearby units, and he could take over enemy tanks and such. Maybe he could sneak into enemy buildings and disable them or plant bombs on them.

Pyro-
Fire! Bane of mass infantry. This guy could have abilities that burned down buildings. Firestorm sounds like a perfect high level ability.

Plasma-
I think of big bombs and big guns. BFG time baby! (No one plays Doom?) High damage and destro-abilities will make this guy very popular. Maybe he could shoot plasma onto a large groups, burning them.

Psi-
Your namesake, Psi. Defintly mind control, and a high level ability could be to stop an enemy general from doing anything. Psi blast would kill nearby pilots and infantry. Yuri lives!

Disease-
Anthrax comes to mind. I think of anthrax bombs and lots of disease spreading broodlings. Yummy!

Bombardment-
Fuel air bombs, carpet bombing, scud strom, and just plain old butt-kicking come to mind. This guy could be a great building destroyer.

I think the way Psi is doing his abilities like the sniper is when he uses it gas goes down by 100 beacause .50 calibur bullets take 100, because 1 rank = 100 gas. The gas fills back up after so long. this enables it to make it have restrictions while still leaving minerals to be able to buy things. I'm not sure but I also think the snipers can't move when there aiming.



lol alot of peoples ideas come from C&C I wonder why...I've never played it so I wouldn't know...I only look at the box then pass it by.....Yuri, Anthrax, Carpet bombing, hacking cash from comps, scud storm, vehicle hack.

I'll wait to post new ideas till you've checked the ones already here beside this one.

-For the Infantry General why not make it like when he kills like 10 units a random low lvl unit comes out of a building. This is like a variation to the all general ability when I said he rallies people out of buildings although you said that wasn't realistic in a way. Then we he increases in ranks he can then rally stronger men or maybe more men or both depending on your choosing.

MP you never played my crappy yet good Forts map that had a Morale feature that worked and well if u fight all the time in that your morale is always low unless you overwhelm ur enemy.

Well I think that the sniper should have to buy his ammo, instead of having a never-ending supply of .50 cal bullets that only take 100 gas. I also think the weather could effect gameplay without killing things. such as make it so your radar (some1 suggested it) from working, make it so you can't nuke because of the storm... my clan leader Alpha(MC) has some nice thunderstorm sounds, also rain sounds then he has rain and thunder mixed.

Umm I already think he has that in already. Its not like you get free bullets when you get to the right rank. I'm pretty sure you already have to buy it. Check previous posts.

for the sniping and the observers you can have like an option for auto lock-on
where it locks onto a random target if you like unload sumtin from a dropship
