Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> Scmdraft 2 Mac Edition

You know this is the wrong topic to post that in, right? This thread pertains to a supposed ScmDraft 2 Mac edition. I assume you're on a PC.

I am sorry I didn't wanted to intrerupt any activities, but I really needed that answer. I am sorry again.

Oh its no problem. You're the first person to post something relevant here in a long while, anyway.

wow...scmdraft on a mac...its good to contrubuite to the mac map maker community i guess..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-05-12 at 02:04:50
Well considering we have no program that can change player colors, protect maps (obsolete now, I guess), make 1x1 tiles, change stats to 123/4, etc, it would be great to have ScmDraft on Mac. The problem is, this project is taking over 6 months to do, and we have no idea about what's going on with it.

I'd be happy just to place square tiles.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-05-12 at 04:59:29
Yeah, to be honest that's all I'm looking forward to. I don't really care about the sprites and all, I just want to be able to place my own square terrain rather than commandeering a friend's PC to do it. God that would make life so much easier.

Word. I'm held up with my map at less than a third done overall because I can't do any extended terrain stuff, and StarFire Edit isn't exactly the best for terrain anyway, running through Classic and such..

Plz Darkwizzard at least give us an update, a new screenshot or something.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-05-13 at 16:49:17
Or at least tell us if this project is dead. From the looks of it, this question is already answered, but an official "ScmDraft Mac will not be completed" would be better than keeping us in suspense. So many people are looking forward to this, and letting them all down by not saying anything is a huge upset.

Hey hey, dont forget about GUEdit. You can change player colors with that, and even protect it too... not saying that it has anything on scmd2me, but...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-05-17 at 03:35:57
GUEdit doesn't work on my computer. sad.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Peyn on 2006-05-17 at 22:53:38
GUEdit is java based. You should be able to use it.

Wait.

Do you mean that it won't load maps directly?

Cause if you just extract staredit\scenario.chk, and load it up in GUEdit, then you can use it just fine. (Well, you still can't edit terrain, but you can still do other things with it.)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-06-12 at 19:06:46
No. GUEdit doesn't work because it cannot find MPQ2k.exe. I have the Mac version of MPQ2k, bu it specifically looks for the .exe version.

And the only reason why I'd want GUEdit to work is for the terrain feature. Its sad, I know, but its better than nothing (which is all us Mac guys have).

I haven't even seen SI update his own site. He visited this place on June 4th, but his last post was on February. What is he up to?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cole on 2006-06-12 at 20:05:30
idk maybe he took a break. I took a break from my program. Just came back to it today and finally got passed a major bug. Anyway once I get this all onto the program I can rewrite everything quickly tonight and take into account all the features im looking to. My dll could really be simplified!!

dll.... you mean .so right? or are you talking about windows?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cole on 2006-06-13 at 09:57:43
Oh sorry went off topic there. My apologies.

Anyway SI does have a life and a break from coding is always very nice and relaxing. Be patient your editor will come. I'm just happy schools out.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-06-13 at 13:47:39
Then again, SI isn't the one making SCM Draft Mac. Its DarkWizzard.

I think we're tired of waiting because its taken over a year. And we were told at least an alpha would be released by last January.

Me? college, RL, trying to make some money, the usual...

as for mac edition, DW mentioned to me once that he might have time in july, however he has a full time job with overtime so I have no idea how likely this is.

devlin, as for you, I'm sorry we do things like work to pay for accomedation, food, etc instead of slaving away on a free editor for you tongue.gif

What the hell? Jobs are for idiots! Give me my damn editor!
...joking...

As I said before, I just want to know if the project is dead or not. I don't mean to be so hasty about getting the program out, I mainly want to know if there is any point in hoping for its release or not.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2006-07-07 at 03:32:17
Just stop hoping, it will make all that much better a surprise when it comes out.

After almost another month, I have decided that hope blows. I will now resort to cutting myself and crying myself to sleep nightly. This seems like the only way to get by now.

If you take this seriously, you deserve to be shot. Twice.
