I didn't even say ANYTHING about graphics. Why? Because I don't care. For me, flicking a stick up and down on a screen isn't "innovation" it's a thing called "stupid". How fun can hours of monotonous, mechanical hand movements with the only gratification being a high score be? Oh yeah... not at all. I'd rather have my hands stapled together then play something that sells solely on a "touch screen".
Hey, you want to know what else utilizes a touch screen? The self serve checkout lines at Walmart. It's not innovative to use a touch screen, I know they've been around for atleast five years.
If you're playing games for 12 hours straight, there's something wrong with you. I think the PSP would be best with an hour life of five hours, and some kind of cover.

As I said before, there are games where you do NOT have to use the touch screen at all. If you don't want to use the touch screen, buy games that don't USE it. I wonder how hard that is to understand. In other words, you aren't FORCED to use the touch screen.
Next, it's humorous how you assume everyone here plays 12 hours STRAIGHT. We take breaks, or maybe we are off somewhere where there is no electricity available.
Finally, there are other innovations such as dual screens, a microphone and fold design, which protects both screen.
As for my opinion, I didn't buy the DS, mainly because it is portable. I bought it because I wanted to try new gaming concepts that utilize touch screen and microphone technology. I wanted to see what kind of games would churn out. So far, I'm not impressed, but at least there are efforts. We will see in the future.
