Well I do appreciate feedback, whether negative or not. In fact its often the negatives that give me the most insight, so I've learned to put up with them for that reason. Nitpicky stuff included.

Sometimes I wish I'd get this kind of feedback before I release things instead of after, though. tongue.gif

You misspelled flare as flair in the Gargula Cave.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kumano on 2006-07-14 at 11:44:48
I found the plains kind of easy, I had 13:37 (lol) minutes at the end of it (not even intentionally). Gargula is still kind of overpowered even though it's easier (I don't need to save/load anymore), I needed 3 heals to beat him (I managed to do all the waves using no heals to get 1000 gas, and then got the last 500 from killing him a ton of times), and then I saved up 1000 gas, and when I beat the Bio-Guardian, I got the BFG which made the last boss way easier than the Bio-Guardian, which seems kind of stupid to me. Last 2 bosses are fun though.

For Gargula's cave, I usually try getting fully upgraded magnum and 11 armor, that way he kills you in 2 hits not one and you can kill him in 2 hits also. Whenever is close sound goes off I just shoot around myself like mad and start walking again if he doesnt show up quickly (I don't even use flares, which is probably the only reason it gives me trouble at all).

WoW!!! nice map, dude. It's the best I've seen. You rulzzz!!! there is only a problem: Best and most known maps are played in BNet, and the map's size is very big for play in Net. Anyway, dude I'll do all my friends play it. It's awesome. Special efects too. I'm in the first boss yet (I left him in 10% disgust.gif ). But the map is really adicting. I don't know what is your secret, all those trigger working should be lagging the map, or shooting slower, but they don't O_O

Music rulez too! happy.gif

Just only, multiplayer game with 4 player should be amazing, so sad you only can play with 8 players (counting comps) in a game. This map played with 4 people should be amazing... ranting.gif disgust.gif

Yea, I wish Rush 2 would be 2 player except both are defilers (you would share kills and money etc.)

I don't think he would be able to use 4 players because the 6 comps in this version are there to count how much damage a unit has taken, that's why they change colory.

I'm not saying that I couldn't beat gargula if I went back and tried it. If I had gotten my 3rd heal off in time, I would have probably beaten it my first time.

I'm saying that I don't want to because even though I'm sure the rest of the game is great, I don't want to sit there bored and annoyed silly for 20 minutes to get to the rest of the game.

My advice for your next map is take out all the stupid parts and leave in all the A+++ amazing parts smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2006-07-14 at 15:10:02
Well that's the drawback of a linear game. You can't avoid the dull parts without cheating. There is a way to skip the turret chapter altogether, like I described in the walkthrough, but you might want the gas from it so I don't recommend it.

Anyway it really does get better later on, so you probably should stick with it even past the hard/dull parts. There's a trick to everything, so don't give up.

Jesus.  Shut.  Up.

The fact that there is so much to talk about this map, makes it a work of art.  Quit complaining.  Seriously.  Most of you are nitpicking about worthless things, even moreover this is a one-of-a-kind map that 99% won't even be able to achieve, i.e. you're complaining just to complain.  He made a map that uses shooter type skills in an RTS map.  Show me one map that does this with the same degree of execution.

Yea, I hate grumpy's caverns. If you have enough armor, it doesn't do 1hit k/o

EDIT: LOL, whoops, wrong quote.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Laser_Dude on 2006-07-15 at 15:38:03
There's one reason not to make it multiplayer only, that is latency. It kills (literally), especially in gargula's cave. By the time I get to shoot, he's already killed me in one hit.

But excellent map. It would've taken me 100 years, every idea already written out, the terrain already done, and 10,000 switches.

I hope you don't mind, I opened it up to figure out how you did it without 10,000 switches. Death counts, never would've thought of that.

P.S. how much time do you need to live in survival mode? I've never made it past 3:00
There's also a glitch that happens once in a while in survival, you get shotgun, and a mutalisk appears.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kumano on 2006-07-15 at 16:12:35
I think you need to get 5:00 for the first bonus, which really annoys me because I got to 4:55 (which makes me think that the survival mode is way too hard considering I can beat the entire thing easily).

A lot of people seem to have trouble with the cavern section, including me. Tux, I'd suggest that you tone down the difficultly of that section a tad. You could do this by pinging the Ultralisk a little before he gets too close. Also, making it so just one shot will drive him off every time would help as well. I've read your walkthrough for that chapter and it didn't help me much at all. It's just something to consider for V2, I guess.

Though, I might as well add I did beat the cave once out of luck, but I didn't keep the code for the cliffs or the plains afterwards. Didn't save ethier. I'm not that interested in replaying the cave section again. Anyone want to give me the code for the plains? tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Scheisse on 2006-07-15 at 18:37:40
Codes for every chapter (if you want to spoil the game go ahead and use these...)

1. ACBDB
2. CDABA
3. DBBCA
4. ADABAC
5. DCBDDA
6. CBCABC

Good luck... Sorry Tux, but it's only to help your map get more popular. smile.gif

For the cave try to get 11 armor and fully upgraded magnum, and just shoot like mad whenever you hear his close sound, and continue walking (after reloading of course) if he doesnt pop up.

Not a bad map. However I find myself meleeing more than actually shooting anything except for the bosses. Very hard if your Hand/Dark Swarm coordination sucks. With one player, however; its gets boring very quickly. Co-Op would make it better. At least be able to have one buddy to play with. I like the music. The terraining is very nice. Overall great map. A little repetitive though.

Tux maps are always fun!
Very innovative, I saw a lot of nifty things that were put together very, very well. Even though it does get repetitive, still very entertaining. Haven't gotten through the entire things just yet, will keep trying though. I've really got to get my hand steady.

At the side
It's a shame to see how a lot of the great map makers I know have finally come to their slow streak. Innovations in the map making world seem to have come slower and slower, and there are only a small handful of great projects I can't wait to see come out. But right, everything Tux said is right. To do maps to see if you could come with a breakthrough comes with much less reward than if you would. I don't believe it's necessarily bad to try to achieve what no one else has done before, but not for that purpose solely. It should be, above all, self-satisfactory. Or perhaps even better -- to create a map that everyone will be satisfied with -- it is, after all, entertainment.

Well they are now that you've quoted them. tongue.gif I don't really care, though I'd still prefer people to at least try to play without them. Or to find them on their own by looking through the triggers, if they're so determined.

If you say this map is repetitive, you are only meaning in normal path, when you should kill only monsters. I've found a different challenge in every part of the map. Boss, wind, Gargula, include missiles dodging. Its difficulty is well set, at least for me, I have good combination burrow/Swarm (U and J). It's a very good map, best I've seen.

Oh crap... OK, now I understand taht the templars are nothing compared to the Caverns... tongue.gif

To Tuxlar: Isn't this a bug - I see that ultralisk in the caves (taht has 110 DMG), shoot hiw with automatic level 3, and he doesen't teleport away from me and kills me sad.gif

About the Plains: I've found a "glitch" about the rush. It seems like when it starts, you center location on the heroe, and order Suicide Terrans to attack it. So, if you move away after it (the rush) starts, they will stay where you were some time ago, and you can shoot them down from the distance.

But still, I can't pass the Plains sad.gif
