Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Grrr... My Boulder thing not working
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Neiji on 2005-01-28 at 22:23:47
Hi, It's me again, with a new map. I'm taking a break on my RPG and starting to do this map. This is Helm's Deep, cept you're not a hero, but u are a regular man at the war. This starts after the blowing of the wall with the spark carrier. I will get the terrain cleaned up, but now I need to work on this boulder thing. Basically, u can do stuff in the environment, and this is what I have a problem with. I put Lurker(Boulder) and next to it is a Drone(Rope holding Boulder) and u kill the drone and the lurker supposed to be ordered to move. The lurker does NOTHING and doesn't even move. Actually, I don't think the trigger even works. This is the last 4 triggers for player 6.

Remember, I'll get the terrain cleaned up, so don't complain that the terrain sucks.

Here's an attatchment of the map, don't steal.

Okay I am plying right now. Very hard to fight uruk-hais if you are allied to them. I had to click attack for everyone of them. Can I change the aliance status so you are enemy to them?

umm yea i cant find the lurker ur talking about

The lurker is at the upper part of the tower. There is a pruple 1/1 hp drone behind it. I don't quite get the problem. I had to survive the 10 minutes with power overwhelming and then nothing happened. It just got flooded with all the orcs.

Kill 20 Uruk-Hai, so u click and attack. It's harder that way, but u kil them in one hit. I'll add them to Mission obj.
Follow the Mission in text messages. I'll change them to a different color so it's not grey.

Also, you should do it so they attack you whenever. Right now they only attack you if you attack them. And surviving for 10 minutes is close to impossible. I could not survive 10 mintues without Power overwhelming.

Holy Damn! KaboomHahahein is right! That's a royal censored.gif to play w/o cheating! However, I can't seem to find the problem either (?). But yea, tone it down a bit.

Well, rather than ordering the lurker, you could do something like...

Conditions: Kill 1 Drone at Boulder 1

Actions: Remove 1 Lurker for Current Player at Boulder 1
Create 1 Boulder at Boulder 1
Order 1 Boulder at Boulder 1 to Move to Boulder Crash Location (make the boulder an air unit, like a Sci Vessel)

Then-

Conditions: Player(who owns boulder) brings at least 1 Boulder to Boulder Crash Loacation

Actions: Destroy all any unit owned by all players at Boulder Crash Location
Wait #### milliseconds
Create 1 Drone at Boulder1
Create 1 (Boulder Item, like crystal or whatever)
Create 1 Lurker at Boulder 1

So then, what it does is check for when you killed the drone, removes the lurker, creates the boulder, makes the boulder "fall" down and kill anything under it, and recreates the whole trap after a certain amount of time

Anyways, thanks, Ubernewb. So, anyone like my map, or does it suck?

The terrain is pretty good. The rest is pretty good, I just don't reallylike the 10 minutes defence thing because it is not doable!

Okay. Thanks. This map'll take a LONG time. 30-50 missions to beat the game ...

First of all make sure the player who is useing the lurker is a computer or player IN GAME

I havent played map and thats a big reason why Some triggers dont work... You could always use something that isn't a lurker and try that also

Oh, about the 10 minute thing, it's impossible now because there are so little traps right now (3 i think, 2 stone throwing and 1 boulder) and in the final version, ther'll be catapult (seige tank) and many more traps like boiling water, more boulders, and horseriding...

Anyone solve the lurker problem?!?!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-02-05 at 10:37:37
I tried, I seriously think the terrain or something is preventing it from moving. The triggers are sound.

K, thanks, should I make the ladder bigger?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-02-05 at 20:26:56
I don't know about that, try using some normal terrain (like dirt or something) before you start changing the whole look of that area. Because I seriously doubt size matters in this situation.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Neiji on 2005-02-06 at 22:29:32
Oh, okay. What's a good normal terrain for there? How about temple? Ruins?

Just some questions because I am too lazy to dl the map:
is burrow researched for the player who owns the Lurker?
what is it ordered to do? Attack Move or Patrol? (Patrol works best I think)
does the type of terrain change where it has to move? like Dirt to Rocky Ground (it makes units act funny when crossing borders of diferent types)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Neiji on 2005-02-08 at 16:52:37
it's the terrain that's a dodad on ruins like it looks like a disc on the ground where it looks like a face smiling... (You can walk over it)

Burrow does not need to be researched and the lurker will burrow. On default it gets burrow. And Burrow has nothing to do with his problem. He want the lurker to move to another place. Not burrow.

Lurker never burrows, how can you ppl not solve this problem? ARe the really good ppl ignoring this?

Man, The title sounds like a noob problem, but I really want this fixed...
