Alright... due to massive growth in # of forums, something needs to be done.

What if I...
  • Deleted the gray crap under the forum table?
  • Moved the "Forum Led By: XXXXX" into the description? (No line break)... or moved it somewhere off to the side somewhere.
  • Changed the clan forums into...
    Forum 1 | Forum 2
    Forum 3 | Forum 4
    instead of
    Forum 1
    Forum 2
    Forum 3
  • Did that with all the other forums.
  • Made it ONE table instead of One table per category. This would be accomplished by moving the white table cells to the top, making one 'maintitle' at the top, and all the forum category names into smaller cells (with less padding) { edit : I just noticed blizzforums does this }
  • Deleted or moved the search function thingy so it doesn't take up space and reinterate when you last visited... twice
  • Dropped the forum statistics out of "your board panel" because... it's stated twice (again)
Question: Why do we have a forum for faq's and regulations when we have a script ("forum help") that does the same thing... somewhat better. I can even make this look prettier and more convient.

What if we moved all the download related forums into a subcategory that launches it's own forum index page. Sorta like how invisionize does their whole forum.
...What if we did that with the clan forums.

Just tossing ideas around.

One thing I plan on doing with the clan forums is have it so...
/---------------\ Desc Line 1
| Clan button| Desc Line 2
\---------------/ Forum Led By: XXX
That'll be sexy and take up a lot less room smile.gif

Fix the ugly header.

The My controls Menu is hard to read and overlaps the main title. "My Acount" is offset to the side away from the actual links for My Acount. But worse is the word saying Navigation. It is way on the far right of the screen and the drop down menus are like center left and spaced way to far appart.

Why don't you put My Acount like it used to be or put it in a drop down menu too.

I have finally caught my balance on the wire of happiness, I only fear is being pushed off

I like the forum horizontal idea.

BTW, maybe we should call "My controls" something like "Control Panel". It confuses new people of where their stuff is.

Fix the header? That's like... totally off topic crazy.gif.

Calling "My Controls" control panel will push it right into the "Staredit Network v4.1"...
However, we could move "Log out" right next to your account name...

And placing it ALL into a drop down menu is definitely a possibility. I actually thought about it but then was like nah... because... placing new message link inside a drop down? Could possibly make "My Account" into an area that displays a link to new messages... if you have any. That'll all get kinda complicated, but probably doable.

Bolt, post a screenie of your "my account" area? I think I may know the reason for it, I think I aligned the text to the right instead of the center.

Forum horizontal idea?
Forum 1 | Forums 2?
That might get ugly.

Not really, just can the forum icons. They aren't needed anyway.

And activity too, what use is that? Wow, this forum is 18% active ... ok.

Can those two things, move the forum led by in the description and make it the horizontal format and you'll have saved tons of room.

wtf is that bolt...
lolololol

It just might have to do with the fact you have ff .8, not sure though...
I will redo the control panel though because it doesn't look right in my member account. If that doesn't fix it, you need to upgrade ff (which you really should be doing anyways)

I use your same resolution Bolt and I don't get that ugly header error but one thing with this resolution is that the navigation bar is very empty.

The Title "My Account" is somewhat too much to the left and not centralized.

Deleting that gray bar at the forum tables would be OK, since anyone hardly notices I noticed like 2 weeks ago.

I don't think Horizontal Forums would be the best idea because the newer people will overlook the forums on the left thinking it would be like additional info of that forum.

New people should feel like they know where everything is and thats the vertical forums that you see everywhere. I do suggest doing it with clan forums because there could be more clans in the future and right now, it's getting crowded.

If you make it one table instead of one table per category it'll be hard to find some forums because there will be no visible distinction at first glance between them.

Well upgrading to Firefox 1.0 worked. But now i have to redo my bookmarks and all those other settings damn it.

I bet alot of people have that same problem as I did though.

You can't just export / import the settings?

Actually, there should have been an option to import settings from Firefox/Mozilla/IE before you installed it, or when you first opened it.

*ahem*

Anyways...

Clans are now formatted so sexy..

So, something like this possibly? (very little tweaking done because I can't censored.gif around with boards.php without affecting the rest of the users)
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?act=idx&skinid=8

I'll probably put activity back by the forum title... that mineral is looking naked...
And resplit the posts / topics beause it's kinda ugly like that.
But you get the general idea.

skin_global ~ My Account is now aligned with everyone... instead of only people who have full My Account options smile.gif.

Personally, I feel we can combine the "Melee Map Making" and "UMS Map Making" categories. Just rename it to "Map Making" and stick melee at the bottom. I don't see why a new category was needed.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2005-02-02 at 17:01:32
It wasn't i was going to say that too. I was going to suggest have it be a sub forum under Mapmaking Assistance actually.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-02-02 at 17:06:55
Well, there might be more melee sub forums sooner or later. It really doesn't look that bad by itself in http://www.staredit.net/index.php?act=idx&skinid=8

Just fix the colors in the op staredit.net box. The default font appears to have kicked in.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-02-02 at 18:18:47
See... that box has nothing to do with the forum listing skin (which I found out is actually skin_board and not skin_forum).
