Each one is good in its own respect. StarForge is good for making/discovering various tricks (and being able to access more of the map's data, that is, you get to edit it). SCMDraft 2 is good for... Well, being stable, fast, and usually reliable while maintaining some/most of what StarForge can do. SCXE is good for the initial terrain and layout of the map if you choose to use parts of isometrical terrain. It's also good for triggers.

Btw: How exactly is this a concept?

Mind listing your reason why you like SCMDraft 2?

I like starforge for its triggering because it is very fast and easy.
I use SCMDraft for the isometric terraining.
The only think I might use X-tra is ordering the triggers. I harly use X-tra.

Overall: Starforge.

I personally like SF better because it has more features. And really SCM draft is faster but you cant notice on a program like it. I use Xtra for simple triggers, and some times unit placing. Other wise I use SF.

I like X-tra because it is most like the original Starcraft Campaign Editor.
SF is for copy and paste because TrigEdit doesn't work so well and I don't really use SCMDraft2.

Would anyone like to tell me why this is actually in concepts?

But anyway, I prefer Starforge. Reasons: I can easily avoid any errors now that I've been using it, so having errors isn't a problem. Having errors is basically the only reason people don't use Starforge. It can do everything extremely well. I also think Starforge is more easier to use than SCMDraft, and has more of a Staredit-looking interface.

Like Dk said, I can get around the bugs and runtime errors. But for me it's becuase I was on the TSE forums =P.

StarForge is the best, becuase it can create a full map all by itself.

i like starforge used with SCXE straight edges many options with over 8 players, colors, mission breifs, straight edges, and stacking, its got everything you would need for a good map. Independent objects is great on starforge, although im not to good at using it...

In my opinion each has its high points and low points. tongue.gif I use them all for different things. Usually I use SF when finishing up a map though.

They all have their Ups and Downs but right now I prefer Starforge but with all the work being put into SCMDraft 2 I think that will be the ne I'll use in the future.

I voted for SCXE. Yes Starforge is good, but i seem to have many problems with it. Sometimes it's got too many variables in it (such as all the weird unit properties) and is hard to sometimes select locations on the map. I also dont like how it only displays trigger comments. I cannt upload sounds for some reason and it keeps deleting it sometimes.

Other than that, it rocks in just about everything else. But i still use SCXE more for my type of maps.

I use SCXE2.6 Update for triggers/isometric terrain and it's main features,
and i use Starforge 2.1 for square terrain, sprites, unit colours, etc.

and i use SCMDraft II after using Starforge because it brings the SCXE pre-placed doodads back to life!

starforge is best for triggering, sprites, square terrain, ect, but tends to crash every now and then. scm draft is good for terrain, especially isom terrain.

i used to use x-tra for triggering, but when i learned how to use starforge i pretty much never used it any more.

Do know that SCMDraft can also undo.
Ctrl+Z
or rightclick+Undo.

I voted Xtra because it has been more important to the map making sociaty the any other program. Think about the most comman Starcraft editor, it's SCXE. It's one of the best, and 1st editors, but starforge is close behind...

I think they all have their advantages and disadvantages, in SCXE, you can have much more options then the normal editor, but still have that same user-friendly interface, which helps alot if you are used to using the standard editor because it's not that big of a jump, plus, it barely crashes and usually never corrupts your maps unless you do something with the triggers to crash it, or put a unit off the map. With Starforge, you can pick from multiple terrain types, and also it has a trigger system that is more like programming code or something, but if you like the standard editor layout, it is quite a jump. Plus it corrupts your maps occasionally and it is not complete yet. Plus you can copy down terrain from the master pallete. With SCMDraft, it is more finished and you can actually undo/redo easily. Also, when you select a unit you can see its wireframe, you can change unit's hp to 0, higher then its hp, and choose from multiple terrain types and choose from a master pallete, however, it is harder to copy down terrain to your map. Overall, I think that they are all equal and should be used around the same amount.

I just prefer sticking with SCXE. StarForge and SCMDraft are both good programs, but I'm not into fancy features like square terrain and sprites. I guess I could say I'm stuck behind times in map making.
