2005-2006 will be one hell of a busy year for gamers. With not one, two, but 3 consoles launching at nearly the same time, gamers will have a hard decision. With the PS3, you have the new blu-ray technology which can hold much more than DVD discs could... the question is can the developers use all that space? With the Xbox Next, you have the anticipated Halo 2.5, and possibly, great specs. The Revolution is a mystery that could be one the of biggest surprises of the year with gyroscopes, holograms... you name it.

Gaming has evolved from gameplay to graphics throughout the past 20 years. I think at a certain point, graphics will achieve saturation and the suceeding consoles will only have minor graphical improvements... However, gameplay types are always expanding and that is why I think it's going to take more than specs to win customers in the future...

So choose a console or two and tell us why you prefer it... Hopefully prices won't be as dramatic as when the first Xbox and PS2's came out ($300!).

accually your wrong, first of all 2006-2007 not 2005-2006 and i know the estamit price of the systems
Ps3:400
X-Box Next(or what ever it's called):450

these are a little pricy, thats why i'm gona stay with my X-Box and Ps2 untill the price goes down o 300 or at least 350, i'm not the richest man on the block(or the world)
i'm lower then middle, i have a low paying job, but i love my job so i guess it's ok, anyway ummm yeah

I'm sure as hell all 3 consoles will release at about the same time. It would not make sense if they launched it one year after, I mean look at the PS2. They had the 1 year advantage and because of that, they remain #1.

Anyway, post what your expectations of what a next gen console will be like. For me, the consoles that are currently out are pretty much maxed out in many things. I mean there is already enough buttons, any more and it would be too hard to memorize what does what. Graphics wise, RE4 has satisfied my needs, but I guess there could be improvements here. I hope there are new features to be added such as 6 or maybe 8 controller ports... memory cards that can link with your PC... Controllers that are wireless and have rechargable batteries... Who knows?

yeah i'm not sure abut if this is true or not but i was reading this wesbtie forum thingy and it said for the ps3 you can load more than 1 disk, like u can have 1-5 disks in the ps3(kinda like a car stereo) and then if u have more than one, the start-up screen will as u which game u want to play..that would be pretty cool. I aslo heard that when you buy the Ps3 it coems with a memory card(well duh) and a wireless controll so again that would be pretty cool 2 sly.gif

They said that they would should previews of it like they did with the DS. So we'll find out. (Revolution)
Ps3, how can they not use it? GTA will obviously use it, they preasured what it could hold on Ps2, but other games, who knows, maybe they won't have short short games anymore (Medal Gear Soild smile.gif)

Living around our time is one of the better ones, our children will play all the stale games "Oo realistic holograms, but the plot has been done before, pff, boring"

I'll be getting an Xbox 2 because I like it, but not it's fans. And it's Halo 3, not Halo 2.5 (According to EGM)
and a Ps3.

As for expectations, I fear that Revolutions won't make it, after Zelda, they aren't making anymore games, and by not making anymore games meaning, it's not funded by nintendo at all. They putting all money into the revolutions, which could damage them. However RE4 is getting incredblie reviews and they say it might be game of the year already. Zelda is suppose to be fantastic, other then that, they already put out there big hitters.

Ps3 I think should have 4 controller slots, although you could get a multitap I just like it to be there without multitap. Xbox 2 is nothing speical, like Ps1 and Ps2 change, just better harddrive and taht's it, although they proabbly do that with Ps3 also. Revolutions is dissapointing me already:
"Customers do not want online games"
-Nintendo President Satoru

Also one question, what does backward compatible mean?

It means that the company's previous console games can be played on the new system. It's like how gameboy color games can be played on your gameboy advance. I think if Sony and Nintendo are going to wait a year to launch... Xbox will win in America...

YA, id say that if sony and Nintendo waited that long then they would lsoe out majorly. I just hope they ahve way more good rpg's for xbox next then they did for the first generation. They had morrowind, but as far as rpgs go that was about it... kinda sad ;(

Not sure about the XBox2, but since XBox has the built-in 5GB hardrive(1/4 of my crappy comp's), I would think the next one would too, and a stationery 5 GB is good enough for me tongue.gif happy.gif

Agreed.
