2005-2006 will be one hell of a busy year for gamers. With not one, two, but 3 consoles launching at nearly the same time,
Xenon or Xbox 2 or Xbox Next, is end of THIS YEAR Ps3 and Revolution end of next year, taht's not close to each otehr

With the PS3, you have the new blu-ray technology which can hold much more than DVD discs could... the question is can the developers use all that space? With the Xbox Next, you have the anticipated Halo 2.5, and possibly, great specs. The Revolution is a mystery that could be one the of biggest surprises of the year with gyroscopes, holograms... you name it.
They said that they would should previews of it like they did with the DS. So we'll find out. (Revolution)
Ps3, how can they not use it? GTA will obviously use it, they preasured what it could hold on Ps2, but other games, who knows, maybe they won't have short short games anymore (Medal Gear Soild

Gaming has evolved from gameplay to graphics throughout the past 20 years. I think at a certain point, graphics will achieve saturation and the suceeding consoles will only have minor graphical improvements... However, gameplay types are always expanding and that is why I think it's going to take more than specs to win customers in the future...
Living around our time is one of the better ones, our children will play all the stale games "Oo realistic holograms, but the plot has been done before, pff, boring"

So choose a console or two and tell us why you prefer it... Hopefully prices won't be as dramatic as when the first Xbox and PS2's came out ($300!).

I'll be getting an Xbox 2 because I like it, but not it's fans. And it's Halo 3, not Halo 2.5 (According to EGM)
and a Ps3.
As for expectations, I fear that Revolutions won't make it, after Zelda, they aren't making anymore games, and by not making anymore games meaning, it's not funded by nintendo at all. They putting all money into the revolutions, which could damage them. However RE4 is getting incredblie reviews and they say it might be game of the year already. Zelda is suppose to be fantastic, other then that, they already put out there big hitters.
Ps3 I think should have 4 controller slots, although you could get a multitap I just like it to be there without multitap. Xbox 2 is nothing speical, like Ps1 and Ps2 change, just better harddrive and taht's it, although they proabbly do that with Ps3 also. Revolutions is dissapointing me already:

Also one question, what does backward compatible mean?
