Just look at the features, you can preview what the Player will see, including the Computer, allowing you to check what they can and cannot see. You can also increase the size of the distance away from the Terrain screen, seeing more of the map, for usefulness.

Pictures don't give you minerals.

Computers have complete vision of the entire map, as if they own a map hack of some sort. If you blind a computer unit, it will act as if it wasn't blinded and can still attack from long distances even though you don't attack it.

I don't particularly care about regular doodads, zooming, or sight range. But what about custom doodads, that can store sprites with it?

Anyway if you're open for suggestions...

Make that incredibly annoying terrin box dockable, or allow users to permanently get rid of it. Every time I close it, it will come back up after doing some action.

Those dropdown boxes that have numbers in them(Brush size, players, owners, colours, etc.), make it so users can put their own number in it, instead of being restricted to the ones in the dropdown.

Add a unit ID box and that 4 byte "unknown" thing. As well as two boxes for changing the X and Y position of the unit.

The sprite properties are a mess. All you need for them are the owner, X position, Y position, sprite ID, Disabled checkbox, and Draw as sprite checkbox.

Have hotkeys so when you press a number it changes to that player, just like it does in normal Staredit.

I've been using version Beta 0.4.5 so these suggestions are based on that.

if you mod the tileset files to add doodads they show up, this has been tested.

maybe a new thread?

it comes back when switching to terrain mode, it may be changed once basic terrain stuff is in the unit treee

Those dropdown boxes that have numbers in them(Brush size, players, owners, colours, etc.), make it so users can put their own number in it, instead of being restricted to the ones in the dropdown.
may add that

Add a unit ID box and that 4 byte "unknown" thing. As well as two boxes for changing the X and Y position of the unit.
cant do this, these are used for their intended purposes by scmdraft. X and Y I may add, currently 0.5.0 has shift arrows and ctrl arrows to move

The sprite properties are a mess. All you need for them are the owner, X position, Y position, sprite ID, Disabled checkbox, and Draw as sprite checkbox.
why do you want all the extra useless info by units and not here?

It has had this for a while

anyhow next update will first be for mac since DW has more time than I do, I will be preparing the engine for new features for him tho.

I was refering to the post before mine. SCMDraft 2 had the text displays and a couple of other things before a stable version of Starforge was every released (if you want to consider any version of Starforge 'stable'). He was posting like this was something new, when really it has been like that for a while.

Sorry to nitpick, but that's just not true. SI announced he was working on SCMD2 on 9/21/03, and didn't release a public version until 11/3/03. Starforge was announced sometime around january '03 and the first public release was 8/18/03.

Yeah but, if I remember correctly, the first version of Starforge sucked so much I refused to use it and opted for SCMDraf 2 instead. tongue.gif

thats possible, it wasn't annouced and publicly released in ages because I wanted to make sure the isom code was working properly, that was the condition I had set myself for making a future version.
Scmdraft 1 on the other hand.... that was back in the old camsys days, was even announced before the relaunch in 2001 I think it was... or maybe 2002

I meant like being able to put a doodad together, save it, and anyone can load it. A more user-friendly way... I guess.

Since I could just have the explanation of how computers see things and the suggestions all in one post, I didn't bother.

Useless? You're saying the very values that connect addons to their base buildings and connecting two nydus canals together are useless? Speaking of useless, the window I'm seeing(sprite properties) has a bunch of check boxes, especially the 'flipped' option which is more useless. Only two boxes actually make a difference in Starcraft, the draw as sprite and disabled... unless I'm missing something?

QUOTE

Ah I just noticed it did... partially. It won't switch when you have a unit about to be placed, but it does when you have some units selected.

Brushes will be added whenever I have time to finish the next release, I had annoucned this earlier

No I'm saying scmdraft connects the building with the add on and the nydus canals for you so letting the user also edit this is pointless.

I believe they affect whether the sprite acts as cover for various terrain levels and possible also fog of war

I think it just doesn't update the cursor, when you place it should still be for the new player

I have yet to see it fail on a map which has not been screwed up by editors that destroy the isom section
