Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> Terrian Paintbrush

I hope this is a real feature for the next version of SCMdraft, so I suppose I'll ask everyone about this.

YOU'RE the map maker. What kind of features would YOU want to see in the terrian paintbrush editor? heres some of my suggestions:
  • Transparent tiles
  • Categorization for brushes? (example: you put the folder "waterfall", and inside you got brushes for the sides, the waterfall itself, the river, etc)
  • Scrollable terrain editing window. For when you really have a massive brush to make.
  • Save/Load brushes.
  • Transparent tiles... although you are making a square brush, you can still make certain tiles not change, so they reflect on whatever is already on the map there.
Continue...

maybe a brush that allows u to blend terrian?

if you made brushes, you should be able to edit 1 tile of the brush instead of editing it all over again

Just so it's generally known, you can do all these things in Starforge.

I think that you should be able to save a group of tiles so that you can copy and paste the same terrain file every time you want to use it without increasing the size of the map...
I also think that you should be able to make blank tiles so that it doesn't change your terrain...

"Transparent tiles" would mean programming an ISOM relationship for your custom brush so that it could correctly relate to bordering tiles. While possible, I doubt it's within the scope of work that most people are willing to do. There are some tiles, however, like the bridges and stairs, which could be given isom relations easily and then be scalable and flexible up to whatever size, length, and position you wanted.

huh?

transparent tiles in brushes would be quite simple...

are you thinking of scalable brushes or something?

You're saying that it'd be easy to make custom isom brushes?

no, I am saying brushes that aren't square but rather have transparent tiles in them are easy. so say a triangular brush that is easy

Hey if Suicidal_Insanity thinks he can do it, then let him do it. He's the one making SCMDraft so let's let the master work wink.gif

Triangle tiles would be interesting to explore. Such as in the placement of terrain tiles and doodad set tiles you could make it a triangle. Yeah i'd go for that.

triangular brushes, not triangular tiles. minor but significant difference

You knew what i meant. Hmmm, wouldn't it look really bad from hindsight? Since its mixing isom with square ideals?
