Starcraft 2
I have recently stumbled upon your forum in my surfing of the internet from work. I am currently a low level employee for a small Canadian Game Media Company. The following information free to be posted on any sites you wish. I prefer to be anonymous for several reasons and hope that this does not harm my credibility. I will be posting this information on various sites in hopes of clarifying any false information I can dismiss.
Rumor #1: Starcraft 2 was started the same time as Starcraft: Ghost.
Truth: Starcraft 2 was not actually started until the summer of 2003. Blizzard originally planned on seeing how well the Ghost series would be accepted before they progressed into the new RTS. After several rumors and attempts at forging information to prove this Blizzard producers finally decided to give the public what they wanted and started the SC2 project. The goal was then to release the game in the 2005 holiday season after the release of Starcraft: Ghost.
Rumor #2: Starcraft 2 will feature 4 or 5 playable races.
Truth: Starcraft 2 will feature 4 playable races, and also incorporate a 5th purchasable race (Like the Pandaren race in WC3:FT) the incorporation of the playable race is not designated yet.
Rumor #3: The 4th Race is a Protoss/Zerg Hybrid known as the Vanix.
Truth: Starcraft 2 will indeed have a 4th race, but it is not the Vanix (Protoss/Zerg Hybrid) the actual species is called the Xel Naga (Name is subject to change as there may be confusion between the Xel Naga and the Naga in WC3L: FT) This species will offer an entirely new way of playing Starcraft and will impress Veterans of the Starcraft series as well as bring enjoyment to people who are new to the series. As for the Protoss/Zerg Hybrid there are two branches of this sort of unit. The first is the mercenary based unit which will be a supposed "Terran Experiment Gone wrong." These units will be offered to the Protoss and even usable in a level in the Terran Campaign. Also it will now be possible for Zerg to infest Protoss' citadels using a specialized unit nick named "The King". This will allow you to produce two different types of infected protoss units; each with specialized abilities.
Rumor #4: Starcraft 2 will be in 3D like Warcraft 3.
Truth: Starcraft 2 will in fact be 3D, but it will be using a new 3D engine that is far from the "Cartoon" style presented in Warcraft 3 and its expansion. The engine will rely upon a darker tone and be focused on sense of realism. This engine will also feature a new dynamic lighting effect to counter the darker based maps
Rumor #5: There will be no heroes in Starcraft 2.
Truth: This is highly disputed and currently undecided at this point and time. Player feed back on this subject is highly mixed in both ways. In a basic wording… players either love it or hate it. It is undeniable that there will be heroes in the game like the previous versions and there will be "can't die" missions, but it is currently undecided on the factor of an XP system. There is also some thoughts on creating a sort of "make your own hero mode", which is purely idea at the moment.
Rumor #6: The storyline will be based off of the last Starcraft Series.
Truth: This is absolutely true, but there are variables, first of all, if everything goes as planned both Starcraft 2 and Starcraft: Ghost's storylines will co-inside with each other. It is even planned that you may run into situations were the two storylines meet now and then. As far as any information on the storyline, I am unable to supply any information on its content.
Rumor #7: Starcraft 2 will not be released at the same time as Starcraft: Ghost due to financial reasons.
Truth: This is untrue; it is the plan of Blizzard to release the two titles at least a month apart from each other. Blizzard is focusing the Ghost series to be a console game and focusing the Starcraft 2 series to be PC. Statistics show that 89.7% of all PC gamers own a Console system. It is most likely that both games would be purchased and neither would harm the success of the other, only strengthen each others sales. Blizzard plans on the intense storyline to pull people into wanting to learn more by playing the alternate titles.
A sad Note: This is the unfortunate section of this post. Starcraft 2 and Starcraft: Ghost is postponed indefinitely due to the pulling out of Nihilistic from the Ghost Development Team. While this buys Starcraft 2 developers more time, it also makes it a longer wait for the Fans of Starcraft. It is also sad to say several employees have been lost in the recent cut backs, but luckily this did not affect Blizzard or Valve Studios (Developers of Half-Life).
I hope this was helpful in some way. In time new information will be posted.
TLP
its logical but i dont really think blizzard will ever get around to make it
A number of sites have the proposed release date of SC2 to be sometime in 2k7.
Whether or not to believe them, is a disputable fact.
BUT NO W3 HEROES!
I know someone that has alot of immagination!
*cough*
Who voted for: "it's real?" huh?
Unless Blizzard say it themselves, SC2 is not being worked out.
all that is written there is either obvious or reasonable, just think of it -
SC2 will be 3D... duh! every CD game made in those days is 3D.
Stroyline will continue from SCoriginal... duh! they're not going to create a new storyline when they already have a good existing one.
There will be a Xel'Naga race... DUH!!! WC1 - 2 races, WC2 - 2 races, Diablo I - 3 characters, Starcraft - 3 races, WC3 - 4 races, Starcraft - ???
2,2,3,3,4,???
You don't need a supreme IQ to see that blizzard's next game gonna have 4 or 5 races...
and about all the SC ghost related information... that guy is dreaming too often.
Blizzard announced every game they've made (except WC1 which was their first game) a long time before it was started, they created trialers and movies, making sure that many people will buy the game when it's out.
They won't just keep SC2 in secret.
And if they were keeping SC2 in secret, where will the rumers come from ehh?
As with these speculative posts, I wanna see SOURCES.
If blizzard were making SC2, they would tell the public. They wouldn't just have it private, why would they do that? Plus, if they didn't, people wouldn't know it was coming out, and it wouldn't get as much sales income as it could. Besides, when has blizzard ever kept a new game a secret? I don't think that this is true news, however, I do believe that blizzard will eventually make an SC2, they know how successful SC was, and it would be a mistake not to make SC2.
Ive said this before there is a video of a blizzard repsentative on gamespy or fileplanet one of the two anyway in that he says that if they are working on sc2 they will announce it either in 2006 or after they've finished wc3 ft and wow. Which both they have so maybe it will be announced at g3?
ADDITION:

They don't announce games they are working on right away. When they do announce something, they usually have a massive trailier of in-game play. You'd have to be working on something for quite awhile to be able to make a video of something playable.
All companies usually announce stuff at e3 or whatever, don't they?
I personally mailed blizzard a letter about this exactly. This was a year or two ago so it may have changed but it said they don't have plans for it now, they do intend to make at some point in time. Hopfully that will put an end to this.
isolated is exactly right, companies do not annouce when they are making games, they usually tell everyone about the game once its playable. then the next E3, they display the game and then it goes on the news everywhere, and most of the preview moives you see for th egames are from E3's, you can tell this because you cna hear tons of other games in the backround and lots people talking, and or maby a repesentitive. most companies like to keep things secret, then have a big showcase. who knows, maby blizzard is doing something new, and not revealing it at all untilll its done, or needs betta testing.
yeah some r true and all but r they going do all that SC2 until 2007?
I hope it doesn't come out untill I get a new computer...
Otherwise I can't play it

we will have to just wait and see at E3 if its gonna come or not.
I cant remember where this who psted this or, in what topic.. but to paraphrase that person... Wow, i went to the lbizzard site and i saw that they were hgihering a whole lot, i havent seen them higher in mass like this sense they started making warcraft 3... and this is way after they would be hiring for ghost... could imply starcraft 2... also the new patch would be a way of checking to see if their is still a lot of interest in the starcraft franchise... plus the mystery map invitational... all this stuff in a relativly short amount of time when blizzad hasnt tocuhed starcraft in so long... seems a bit odd... maybe just coincadence.
Hmmm... it says there that they're hiring a new person for pretty much every job related to making a game... anything from Game Master to Cinematic Tools Programmer.
I wonder what this points to? SURELY not StarCraft 2!
Well, your info was very interesting to read and I hope it really is true. Definately no heros like in WC I hope. Even if they were to release SC2 when ghost comes out, they've already postponed it so much, right now ghost is going to come out like in June right?
Lol you have me quoted in your signature -.- and quotes dont add to your post count anyway right?
I think it would be horrible if starcraft 2 had hero units with exp like that in warcraft 3.... thats the only reason i dont play that game is because i dont like the hero system... it's also why i still regard starcraft as a better game.

Odd, I didnt even know E3 previewed PC games, sweet.
E3 show alot of new things yet to come some times they show PC games.
Yes, this is logical, but thing about this being logical is because the information is too on the surface and also the general ideas the public would already have predicted - that's why its logical. But the general and broad information also means this is not supported solidly enough to be true.

I seriusoly doubt that the exact infromation given is acurate for the above mentioned reasons, but i dont think it would be unreasonable to surmise that starcraft 2 is indeed going to be made/ i the process of being made.
