And who deleted my post in the moose thread in garbage? and why?

I deleted it.
All it said was something like "lol", it was the perfect example of a spam post. (except it was in garbage)

Most of the time when i see those kinda post. (a reply without saying anything) I just delete it.

If I thought it was pure spam, I would have deleted it myself . One such post every 200 should be okay...

Maybe that's exactly what I'm talking about, everyone is way too strict in ungodly levels. I mean, somethings outright cross the line, sure, go ahead, nuke them.

I'm not that strict. But if people start complaining I will do something.

Strict? I haven't even banned anyone, ever. I'm lucky if I do anything besides the occasional verbal warning now.

I don't consider deleting useless post as being strict. Its not like I issue warnings about it. (not that i can warn you but you get the point)

I've only banned one person, And thats just because i was the first one to see it.

I didnt ban anyone yet. I'm being really busy lately and all I do is move some topics, or warn when 'report to a moderator' button is pressed

You can be less strict on extremely short posts. They aren't spam, because you get nothing for them. Post count and minerals do not get calculated under 100 characters (please do not tell anyone that, as they will aim for 100 characters just so they get the post count and all).

I hate it when I have to ban people. Up to now I've banned about 3 and warned like 5.

1 20 character post really doesn't matter but what will 100 20 character posts do?

It's quite simple, people would keep seeing those posts and say it's ok and we will start noticeing one we get overwhelmend in short spam posts.

I say spam is spam even if it's 1 character long or 100k characters long.

So yeah, that post is useless but it still bounces the thread and adds extra scroll space.
You can't define spam as posting to receive something.

Spam is a post that lacks content and doesn't add to the conversation end of story.

If i post smiley faces on every thread in the section every 10 minutes it is most defiantly spam. Even though I don't get anything out of it (unless you consider pissing everyone off what i get out of it).



It seems you indicated that it is not allowed In the rules. Now that Isolated did it once you guys act like its time to change the rules. I completely understand that its not a big deal if it happens "One such post every 200" as Isolated says. But what’s the big deal if we delete it? Aren’t we sending a message to people that it is OK if we allow them to sit there.

I deleted it because i wanted to have a Smiley post in there but it did an addition still. I thought it was like after 15 minutes that it wouldn't do an addition anymore.

I can be pretty strict, I've had a couple people complain to me because I warned them and they felt it was unfair, but I only warn/delete/edit for a good reason.

Putting a smilie only puts it for 2 characters:

People do it still it. Some people feel it is important to let everyone know there mood after they read each post.

I wasn't JUST talking about deleting short posts, I was talking about too strict in general.

Do you consider it being strict if a Mod deletes a short post like that every time he sees one? I think you can only be too strict when you’re warning someone. Changing something minor or informing them that they shouldn't do it doesn't qualify because it isn't punishment.

In addition everyone has there own opinion of what is strict or not because not everything bothers all of us to the same degree. For example I wouldn't of warned Wolf for posting a Mp3 Song. (or that’s the story i heard anyways)

Guys, just allow it. If you see someone doing that way too much, just remind them that they get no post count or minerals for it. I can garentee you they'll stop.
