Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> Unit Placing

[progress]0[/progress]
Whenever I place certain units in my map they work perfectly...at least until I play StarCraft

but then whenever I open StarCraft they crash the game if they try to attack
I personally think that its a mpq problem cause when I open my map in another editor it says that the unit has no attack...
for example a seige tank says it has no air attack or ground attack
and whenever I play StarCraft the seige tank crashes it

well if you can fix this mpq problem please fix it cause its the worst problem I have found

well yes that is why normal editors dont allow you to place them. If you are using scmdraft it is assumed you know that the nonstandard units can cause erratic behaivior

im not talking about nonstandard units im talking about normal StarCraft units like a seige tank...

the glitch happens whenever they attack a unit

I've never seen this happen, outside StarForge, but I think that if you would simply set their attack to a value other than 0 in another editor it would crash SC whenever they attack.

Its not their attacks being set to 0 that does it...they don't even have an attack
its supposed to say Arclite Shock Cannon for the seige tank on Ground Weapon but instead it says "none" as its attack

no, the tank turrets have the attacks for siege tanks, the base units dont have any attack nor an attack animation

but why do the normal units that people will use mostly not have the attack when the fake units like the tank turrets do...

you dont get it do you?

a "normal" siege tank consists of the tank base and the tank turret combined. the base moves and the turret attacks...

I know that but what im saying is the tank don't even use the tank turret and stuff...it just crashes StarCraft when it attacks

did you check the turret to see if it attacks? the turret and tank are one "creature" combined. liek goliath head and legs(?)...

The extra unit that calls itself the tank turret attacks but when the tank attacks it crashes StarCraft cause it doesnt use the turret...

Thats an annoying feature of SCMDraft, as it sets them into two different units when deciding on how much damage they do, and the Tank Bottom is set to zero at the beginning, place them as a single unit, without giving the TankShell any attack amounts and such and it'll work.

Yeah it should work
but if the tank moves will the tank turret follow it?
good idea but i am not sure if it will work...

you just have to place the tank bottoms

the tank turrets are automatically added by SC on map load, and scmdraft should also automatically display them... (unless you have a beta 0.5.x release which you shouldn't)

StarCraft automatically added them but they still crashed StarCraft when they attacked
and no I do not have a beta version I have the latest version...at least until the next one comes out

For SI, he has done most of it to my knowledge, just ironing out bugs, and their effects at the moment. Most of it already works perfectly.

The next version will not fix your problem.

Do this:

Go to Options > Master Settings.

Remove all all three mpq files. They should look like this:
%SCPATH%Stardat.mpq
%SCPATH%Broodat.mpq
%SCPATH%Patch_rt.mpq

Then browse and find your mpq files and add them so that the list looks like this:
C:\My Shared Folder\Stacraft\Stardat.mpq
C:\My Shared Folder\Stacraft\Broodat.mpq
C:\My Shared Folder\Stacraft\Patch_rt.mpq

Then click save settings, close the program. Then re-open the program.

He may have to edit the ini file directly, I'm not sure if it will let you edit settings if it failed loading the main MPQs

Missed out the R in StaRcraft, and it'lll only help him if thats where his put them. The *.ini file is the best option, don't see why it should though...

can you make the next version so I can change its path to StarCraft?
oh yeah and by the way it still says unable to find the file even though I have it on the correct folder

It doesn't matter if its in the same folder if it thinks the location should be somewhere else, tell me the exact location of it, by directory.
