Beer is now a DLDB Keeper again, but his secondary group is Global moderator. I just want to insure that everyone is aware of his job, but he can keep his moderating job at the same time.
Mini moose is now a global moderator. We did not see a need for having an entire staff group...except for having moose in it. We decided putting him as a global moderator would not actually change what he does here (he has dldb keeper and tutorials manager as secondary groups, incase something needs to be quickly changed). We'd rather limit the number of people with AdminCP access to make sure our website stays secure (nothing is in there really anyway).
I know moose is going to come in here and complain
Yeah, thats my point
Me and IP decided we wouldn't put anyone on as offical staff, and it seemed kind of useless for one member to have their own group with admin cp access, so it got BALETED!
Oh sure, post right after I delete my post to make a more constructive arguement.
ADDITION:
I'm just saying Admin CP access for me did way more good than harm. (ie, 1 > 0 in this case.
)
ADDITION:
WTF, my staff page entry too? Why don't you just fire me while you're at it?
ADDITION:
Actually, that isn't important. But ACP was very useful.
You are in staff... we just left the top for admin stuff because we end up coding and managing most of it. You cant say you've done as much work as us
You haven't done anything in ACP that was so important that it required you right away.
The choice was, admin or global mod since we were moving you. Since you don't really code, we decided to keep you as a global mod with super abilities (better than a normal global mod). The only thing you DONT have is a flashy staff entry, an orange name, and ACP access.
So, let me get this straight. I can use FTP to take out the entire site if I felt like it (well, not the backups
), but I can't access a control panel? And taking away the control panel which I couldn't use against you anyway makes it more secure? I'm seeing some logic flaws or trust issues here.
If you left you account logged in somewhere, yeah, that would be a problem. We've had untrustworthy family members do this stuff before.
Mainly, we just wanted to get rid of the staff group.
Nobody who lives in my house would do ever do that. I don't even leave sites around in my address bar (history = 0 days tongue.gif). Moose does not like to be traced. wink.gif ACP needs password access EVERY time it is accessed anyway. I never leave things like that open when I leave.
I had some time to think about this. Yes, I have been slacking, I'll admit it. Yes, I can act like a little kid. I can whine. I can
. I can scream. I can type out lists of crap I can do and have done with it. Here's what it comes down to: If you and isolated are willing to handle the additional workload (which you really shouldn't do when you're the ones that are busy coding) and you really don't think it will happen that there would be a situation I could've handled hours before one of you came around, then so be it. I believe that three heads are better than two, when they're good cooperative heads. tongue.gif
Yoshi you forgot to give me Mod access to the Shoutbox.
BTW: What is FTP?
FTP = File Transfer Protocol.
Basically, it allows you to edit a website remotely through a program, ie, uploading, downloading, delete, rename, create, edit, etc. File management, as if you were using Windows, with some extra features (because its a website, ex. CHMOD (permissions)).
Nice, I only thought that was possible through AdminCP.
Anyways you guys might be thinking not to give me Shoutbax access beacsue Global Mod is my secondary job but look at this:
1) I already saw Cd-key distrobution today
2) Flaming
3) No one did anything about it, I was waiting for the other Mods/Admins to do something.
To my knowledge, I do not have access to moderation in the shoutbox.
If it was... venku or whoever who spammed 3 times for cd keys, i banned him from the shoutbox for awhile when I saw it.
I'll give you moderation access though.
Actually, it was already done, much to what I thought:
Group: Global Moderators
Shoutbox Moderator: Y
An FTP is basicly like a remote harddrive. You litteraly see the files and folders that the webpage uses. Although you don't have to use it for a webpage. The domain links to the hardrive. And at least to the extent of my knowleage the "index" page comes up by default.

It's on a linux box. Chmod is an actual linux command, like, ipconfig is a dos command.
FTP is just a set of commands that FTP programs or server programs recognize and preform operations based off of. It is not specifically linked to websites, linux, or anything else. It is just that.

AKA a protocol
... Of course, a file transfer protocol.
I sort of get it.
Is it a similar concept to me controlling the computer in the next room via the computer I'm sitting in?

I still see no access...
You sure you're going to shoutbox main before you try to look for mod options?
Is there anyway for the normal members to veiw the secondary statis of us. Cause i noticed that BeerKeg isn't listed under the Global Mods and it doesn't list two status anywhere that i can tell.
Cool thanks for pointing that out.

Yes. All I see below the Shouts are "Ignore" and i can't see the other options.
