is there a way to get a photon cannon just to stand up with out attacking and just keep it that way?

Preserve Junkyarddog on the cannon and have a enemy unit around the cannon is the best you can get. The cannon will go up and down rapidly but will not fire.

or you can just possibly crystal lize it

crystalize it? what do u mean by that?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HeRtZ on 2005-02-17 at 01:09:53
look in the tutorials in the mapping section just take away some of the triggers so the cannon will be crystalized for ever

Crystallizing it will do nothing like what he's asking for. He wants the cannon to constantly act as if its attacking, not change to a clue color.

As far as I know, there isn't much you can do about it unless you do Screwed's method.

If you disiable it(or you don't but any pylons around)so it's unpowered, the little canon top will go a little up and it will not atack, don't know if this is enought out for you.

Crystallizing it does nothing whatsoever, you could have a pylon that has it enabeled and then destroy the pylon to make it stuck while its attacking

Yeah thanks I was about to start suggesting that.

Basically you put a burowed ling next to the cannon, then you see how long it will take for the cannon to attack it. You time the amount of time it takes to lift the center of the cannon to go attack it then you make a trigger like...

C:
Always.

A:
Set doodad state enable Protoss Cannon for player at location.
wait xxxx miliseconds.
Set doodad state disable Protoss Cannon for player at location.

And I think if you did it right it might work.

Yeah it works. I used it for my fence effect in on of my old old bounds (Ferret Bound, it was called).

how long DOES it take for a cannon to attack?

Just experiment on and off with numbers and tests. It'll come up eventually. I would do it myself except that my cd drive is doing weird things at the moment.
