Staredit Network -> Games -> List maps that became altered after patch 1.2
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Screwed on 2005-02-17 at 02:40:07
Make a list of the maps that became 'different' after the recent patch.

Do it in this format:

Map Name:
Map Size:
Special Information: (Extended players, extended units, strange sprites etc.)
Details of special information:
Effects delt to map after patch: (Speed change, effects gone, map crash etc.)
Possible Reason for Crashing/ Altering: The extended unit/ players etc. (State whether it's confirmed or unconfirmed)

Sadly for me, I was just checking my After Earth Trailer out after the patch and I found it crashed intantly into the game.

Map Name: After Earth Trailer
Map Size: 192x192
Special Information: Contains many tricks such as roaming scarabs etc., but the most important is probably the odd unit 2008 that causes units to fire at it from far away.
Effects delt to map after patch: Map crashed intantly into game. (checked 3 times)
Possible Reason for Crashing/ Altering: Unit 2008 (Unconfirmed)

Changed Maps List:
- After Earth Trailer: Crashed

I will update this thread when the time comes

Some maps that the minimap ping doesn't work at all

Moved to Games. Nothing in the patch changed programs like Staredit or how they function.

But it might have changed some buffer overflows.

If a map in our downloads database no longer works because it crashes upon startup, give me the link and it will be removed.

Yoshi... Some people may have older patches

Why on earth would you have an older patch?

This site keeps up with the latest of everything. Blizzard says we cant do certain things anymore, we dont do em. We'll exploit whatever we can to make our maps more fun, but if blizzard says no no, then maps for older version go bye bye (map makers can easily update their maps to be compatible with the new patch on the downloads database).

There are sites like sc.org which host a greater number of maps than us but don't actually regulate whats in there. You have a higher chance of finding maps you're looking for in there.

Some people sometimes don't goto battle.net and they just play with friends at Local Area Network (Only if computers are connected together) have multiplayers for 8 and still may have internet. LAN can be offline tongue.gif (That where I test some of my maps)

So They could've played LAN and never used Battle.net but downloads our maps and maybe never got the latest patches

Yes well we have to think about the greater majority. And the greater majority will surely complain if one of the maps in our DLDB crashes during their game.

Instead of removing them, you could put them in a seperate category, so that people know they're downloading messed-up maps...

I don't know about the minimap ping. In my limited two-day experience, it's always been near-perfect.

Granted, there is a bit of lag between me Alt-Clicking and it actually pinging, but that's to be expected.

Overall, I would have to say that there are no maps that I regularly play that exploit the certain tricks that 1.12 has presumably countered.

dont remove them, Im dling some maps because at this comp I cant play sc online and can just change the patch (there is a patch selector actually, never bothered to use it though)
