ok i will list everything that is going on and everything that i have done!

1. Starcraft doesn't play anymore because the storm.dll file is missing,
2. SCXE will not open due to the storm.dll also
3. I can't load the disc inataller menu where it let's you install/uninstall SC.


1. a) I think my little sister erased the file and i don't know how to get it back.
b) so far the only way i know how to get it back is by re-installing SC,
(which I can't).
2. a) same reasons as 1.
3. I don't know what I need to do, Can anybody help me!

ALSO:

I am having many problems with the patch 1.12 saying I am missing files. That can only be brought back by re-installing SC>

you are lucky because storm.dll is an easily accesible Hash file which is need for hashing SC bots which you can get from stealthbot.net or even here I think.

it is to late i have no way of getting into SC because i have delted EVERYTHING for it except my map, a couple of sounds and a few files but nothing that will open SC.

U try to reformat ur computer and install Sc? u might lose files though.....
So its a problem.

Just find the Storm.dll hash file and put it into your starcraft folder.
By the way, if it is gone, this is usually done by stealthbot crackers and Unseen Battle.net errors, check your error log. Also this can happen because of spyware infection, which sucks, but goodluck getting the hashfile.

Would Buying a new disc Help at all?

Beofre you try anything, you made sure it wasn't in the Recycle Bin, right? If it's missing their, then I think your sister was trying to get rid of it on purpose; otherwise, you can just resotore it.

Move the map files you made and have downloaded, and any program for SC you use. Uninstall SC. Reinstall SC, and move everything back, then make sure everything still works. You may have to reinstall some of the StarEdits and stuff, but that's not a big problem.

borrow a friend's disc and reinstall, after all you're not gonna get his cd key

If i click on the "install" icon in a window so that the installation menu shows up. It never does.

As of now there is no way i can reinstall SC.

All I am wondering is if i bought a new SC,would that make a difference?

depends if the problem is your disk or your computer. try loading the install window on another computer with the same platform (e.g. windows XP), if it loads then the problem is with your computer, if it doesn't - then its your disk.

Well, the problem is definetly my computer.

I bought a new BW disc and the installation menu deosn't appear!


Now, i have to figure a way to get some memory back on my computer!

I have only 385 MR's of space left and that is out of 13.97 Gig's...

Any suggestions?


Disk Defragmentation doesn't work nor does compress files....

For some reason i think your problem is simple and you're not telling anyone here what we ACTUALLY need to know. But here's some stuff you can do that you havnt clearified that you have done.

1)KIll your sister

2)Get an original sc disc, Uninstall all sc/bw programming(you know you can uninstall starcraft wiuthout losing maps, it gives you that choice when uninstalling)
Make sure it's all uninstalled. Don't make some technical mistake and then go wasting time and money to figure out the problem.

3)As to why your install wont work, there can be a few reasons, they follow as
*Your computer doesn't have enough memory to run it(in which case it will tell u)

*You havn't uninstalled sc, and you have an older disc model that doesn't tell you this.

*You May have uninstalled broodwar only(as the new version of sc allows you to choose as default)

*(The Most technical problem of all) You could have some sort of program, process, or application running on your computer that prevents you from running certain software, or any software from unknown clients. This is easily found out by messing around with your windows task Manager(if you have a MAC, DONT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THIS)Then looking for uneccessary and uneeded applications, or software that is running on your computer.

*You could have been infected with spyware, in which case, i can't help you you'd need a spyware doctor program. To find out if you have spyware, get a website that will scan your comp for spyware.

*Lastly, your computer could simply not be reading the disc in the cd drive.

3)Try plain out installing starcraft, just put disc one in, and try to install it. Unless it says it's already installed, you wont have a problem.

4)Lastly you can always cut/copy your maps in your starcraft folder, move em elsewhere, then delete the entire starcraft folder, then install sc. This is 100% sure to work, unless your comp has some serious infection and overuse issues.

Thanks for the help Tdnfthe1, But as of now my comp has barely any memory left. So there for I am going to have someone come out and get rid of all the crap that we don't need or use. Then I will have them look through my computer for spyware,viruses,trojans, etc.... then as soon as ALL OF THAT gets done I will be very happy then i will be able to get back on task with my map! And i will love finishing that because i really want to finish that map!
