Ok this is a map i made last night and this morning, i set out designing this map with one thing in mind at first, having a 1v1 map where the start locations are not opposite corners or cross map. So i tried putting the start locations in the upper corners. I found out that thier are no ramp imbalances setting up the map this way. While making this i also wanted to make a map that would change over the course of the game, Much like Coulee and Detonation_Xnote. While the map ceartinly isnt focused on this aspect, its in there. That is why the 4 mineral patch in your main base is blocking a ramp, so once it is mined out, it could be easier to repel an attack on your expansion down the ramp or could make it easier for the enemy to get into your base. Also taking inspiration from Rose.of.Dream's map Requiem, i made a barrier of minerals that you cant build around, but i also made the patches of 8-16 minerals so if you wish to change it during the course of the game that option is open to you. I also like to have in maps that i make a choice on which expansion you take first, while maps like lost temple basically make it only one option. i think my map gives you 2. The safe but not very rewarding 4 mineral patch, or the 7 mineral and that oh so needed 2nd gas. I also feel that the map is race balanced so far. large unbuildable center makes pvt much more doable. My only concern about balance is the closeness of the bases in the aspect of drops/corsair, wraith rushes.

But i consider this map a first version, will be changed based on feedback from multiple sources and playtesting which i hope some people could help me with in the next week.

Edit: o ya, i know that the mineral setups are stupid looking, thats cause i didnt feel like working on them right now, but it represents the number i want at eatch location

If you removed the start locationes I would swear that this a rigged 4 player map. Terran will have a hard time beacuse most of the map are wide open spaces except for the chokepoints at the base. I dont like the idea that much.

Like I said before Terran would get owned here. Add some ramps and cliffs on those HUGE wide open spaces

To me it look's pretty cool, But it could be a little better, But besides that it doe's lack balance. And some other thing's that I can't point out...

It would be far too easy to disrupt the mineral-only expansion near the bottom ramp by simply parking a Siege Tank or two there.

Hell, even Marines would wreak havoc in that situation.

first of all just cause it has wide open spaces its unbalanced x_x, it has much less open space as compared to some other pro maps (luna) i think that taking out the doddads in the middle would make it too wide, but with them there i think its quite balanced.

if your talking about the mineral only closest to the bottom of the map, i dont see a problem with marines being able to hit it, it just makes securing the cliff important.

No, that's not what I mean. I'm talking about the mineral-only expansion at the bottom of the TOP cliff.

1) this is not rigged he just gave two hills on the bottom corners.
2)Terran would ROMP everyone(on defence). Tanks across the bottom of wither base and turrets on the edge, no one would get through that.

Pope good job on this map, ill test it with you later. i can dl it right now cause im on a school computer. But personnaly i dont really like the idea of have tons of space at the bottom.
that effected the score for me, 8/10 it could have been 9 if the bottom wasnt so big.

I'll give a 7/10. Its pretty original, it looks weeeeeird but pretty cool I don't like the expansions directly below the start locations.

I'm not saying its rigged. I'm saying that if the blue and red colored boxes wouldn't be there it would look like a rigged FOUR player map because the bottom expansions look like bases but are different from the top ones, way different.

Nice map, but I still thinks it's cheating to make a perfectly balanced map by reflecting it about the y-axis. tongue.gif

meh, ive never seen another map do it so at least im finding an original way to cheat, and i did it all by hand cool1.gif
